I would recommend reading the thread.

I'm actually kinda wondering if this is just first batch problems, or what.

It's either teething problems, or its here to stay. Jon Paulson posted at Dakka when he bought some finecast Mandrakes, and said that the air bubble issues his had were due to not dusting the mold with talc before filling it with resin. Talc makes the resin move to the mold better, whch eliminates the majority of the airbubble issues he saw, which were things like toes, knuckles and fingers. Basically all the edges of the mold.

If GW figure this out, or even listed to 'small time' resin casters like him, they should be able to sort this stuff out and put out a good, consistent product.

Hey, more Tyranid second wave rumours.
I have been sitting on some information for a week now about upcoming Tyranid models I've been forgetting to report on.

My contact who allowed me to successfully report Catalyst becoming a psychic power that gave Feel No Pain and the Tervigon's 3D6 spawning ability MONTHS before the release of the Tyranid codex has started talking with me again and has had a few things to report about Tyranid:

First of all, apparently some Tyranid second wave models had to be redone into Finecast so that put an even further delay on anticipated models.

Second, there is currently (well, as of last week) no concrete date set for the models to be released but a general timeframe will be late this summer and early fall.

Third, all the models are done, and many are painted and have had their photos taken for promotional usage, but the release of the models will be staggered among several second waves.

Fourth, the Harpy model has been done for a long LONG time, but apparently there is something that has been holding it back from being released (educated guess is that whole summer of fliers thing that might still happen).

Fifth, the Harpy's rules are looking at getting amended along with several other large flying non-vehicle models ala White Dwarf (who my contact is also affiliated with) some time in the future. These might just be optional rules or a preview of what's to come with 6th, but you never know; they could make White Dwarf useful again. That would be a good way to get people like me to resubscribe.

    I think that was it.

As a Tyranid player myself, I HOPE the Harpy gets amended a bit, because I use 2 of them now and sink 340 points into basically 2 lascannon shots which don't hurt vehicles as easily. That is NOT a good investment and I'd like to see them become less of a liability in the army.
    (...)
The fact that the models are done is somewhat old news anyway. They have been done for a while and other rumor providers have reported that part months ago.

I don't know why they're waiting so long to release them. If I were to take a stab at the logic, it's because Dark Eldar doesn't have as much staying power as Tyranid as far as the base of players go who will buy the models, so they needed to get the Dark Eldar stuff out quickly while the army was still hot (Dark Eldar hadn't been updated for a LONG time and customer response to the new book was better than most other books)... So Dark Eldar took the stage while Tyranid took the far back burner... GW doesn't like to release products too close to one another because of how we the customers work. GW needs to give us time to replenish our expendable income so we can buy more stuff from them. So with each Dark Eldar wave, Fantasy wave, and now that the Grey Knights came out, Tyranid have had a hard time trying to squeeze in their releases.
    (...)
I don't think the Harpy was ever a metal model or had to be converted to Finecast.
    (...)
but yes, the Tervigon/T-fex as a combined kit is currently expected.

Basically, models are done, release delayed because some are moving to Finecast (likely the Doom of Malantai and Parasite models that were rumoured). Harpy has been done for a long time, but release has been delayed. Probably late winter/early autumn, staggered over a couple of waves instead of one big second wave. Because, you know, we haven't waited quite long enough. Harpy might be getting updated rules in white dwarf if the summer of fliers thing ever happens.

Dammit... I wish I could remember the title of this one game... It was grid-based, turn-based strategy with generic space marines where you had to limit your gear based on requisition or somesuch. And it was play by email multiplayer in addition to hotseat (came out between 94-98).

Quick question. I am planing on having a 6 man grey knight paladin squad. Is a apothicary going to be worth the 75 points? Looking at playing 1500 point games mostly.

Also using draigo to make the pally's troops.

Two sneak peeks for the campaign. I am still Ironing out the rules, but here are two little somethings for you:

    Battle for The Aestas System.
The warp storms far to the southeast in the Ultima Segmentum that have obscured the Aestas System for millennia have finally abated. The system is now visible to telepathic scrying, divination, and other forms of long range scans. This system with several lush ancient worlds and strategic location is wanted by any force with a means of getting to it. But what of the original inhabitants? And what happened to cause a warp storm of such strength and duration?

Chaos Gate was pretty descent really.

And yeah, a Deathwatch game would be nice. An Xcom style one would be orgasmic. Hell, a squad based strategy/FPS hybrid would be cool. But based on the info we have, Kill Team sounds pretty mediocre.

So yeah, when you go to the GW section on Wayland games, it says about the embargo, and has 'For customers in the rest of the world, click HERE'.

    Then this message.
    Rest of World Customers

This category is for our Rest of the world customers to shop or GW products. Over the coming weeks this section will be populated with our available stock and updates on availablity.

You should see updates here daily once we reopen after the weekend. We hope you like what you find here over the next few days :)

So they seem to have found a way around it. Seeing as their normal stock isn't there, I assume it's through a loophole. My guess is selling individual stuff as bits, like some ebay stores do. Buy 10 x Space Marine torsoes, legs and backpacks, buy 10 x bolters and arms, etc.
