In other news, I'm going on a work trip to New Orleans but am not staying long enough to do much of anything except meetings and stuffing my face with gumbo.

Last Friday I was told I might have to take a trip out the North Carolina Wednesday with one of our managers for a presentation. Here we are Tuesday 5PM and she just now texts me that she'll send the itinerary I need to book passage. This horribly overpriced ticket better not get absorbed in to my division's end of year assessment.
    It probably will :(

I know teachers working their butt off for $38k a year... in the Bay Area, where that barely enables you to be able to live.

I know wages aren't all that much higher in the UK, but there at least teacher's starting pay was relative to if not higher than what most graduates are able to earn. (Out of the people I know who have graduated in the UK, I was on 13,250 pounds, two other friends were on 14,000 and 16,000, my sister and brother are on minimum wage - and my friend who was a teacher was on 18,000)

I think those numbers in the OP reflect education majors not "teachers" per se.

That's true (although it doesn't state whether it's majors or professions). Either way, I imagine it's pretty representative of the actual career fields.

Whelp out of the 9 places I applied/checked out, I've gotten denied at 4 and the last 5 include:
Going to take forever to get a response
    Probably not going to happen
    Probably going to get denied
    Employment agency
Fast-food place my dad doesn't want me working cause 'I can be making so much more money with my shitty computer skills*'

*I'll be making less because it's through an employment agency

Summer means no more work as an after-school art teacher, which the charts tell me is some sort of hybrid job hydroponically grown in a lab to pay as little as possible.

Nothing crushes the satisfying feeling of responsibly applying for a bunch of retail jobs you know you don't want like hearing about how one of my friends is now suddenly in a successful reggae band and my old roommate is now working at Crystal Dynamics making 60k a year.

    hello job thread

had 2 interviews last week (bar/restaurant) and applied to a shitload of jobs over the 3 day weekend

got 2 calls today with rejections from the interviews

i was 'overqualified' for one position and 'too inexperienced' for the other

applied to pizza hut (lol) and got rejected by an automated email not 15 minutes later (lol lol)

i have 2 weeks to secure employment before i am literally made homeless by my dad who takes 80% of my jobseeker's allowance, thereby keeping me on the verge of fucking poverty

    help???

i have been unemployed since mid-january (counts as long-term here)

i have experience in: customer service, banking, retail, bar/restaurant, admin

should i get my ass into school/onto a course/learn a trade? how can i go about turning my shitheap of a life into something happy and productive? every single day is a dirge of rejections and discouragement and nearing 26 with no money, no house, no car, no s/o and no......enjoyment at all, really

Beasteh, I've just formulated a brilliant plan for us.

...one that will make us boatloads of money.

    It may involve selling meth.
We're going to be cooking and selling meth.

Newest project's legwork more or less done. Drafted the letters to be sent to our customers and vendors to let them know that we need email/fax numbers from'em since we're no longer going to be mailing them stuff. Also looking into EFT transactions for the CFO to further reduce the amount of physical mail we're sending out.
