The other big question hanging is that there's a major relaunch hitting in September, and we haven't heard about the status of "Beyond" just yet. What can you tell us about the future of the series amongst all this change?
I do know what our next arc is going to be, but I can't talk about it yet. I'm in the process of plotting it out, and I even know what the next arc after that will be as well as our next "Legends of the Dark Knight" issue. We're in a pretty good place about what's ahead of us, and if all goes according to plan, we're pretty well set for the next bit of time. And we're going to keep the team in tact as long as we can and keep trying to crank out good stuff.

I was looking through the announcements and saw Blackhawks... *shrugged* moved on and then thought about it. The Blackhawks? As in Lady Blackhawk, Zinda Blake?
Oh damn. You ever have that little side character in a lesser comic that you think is just awesome? That was Lady Blackhawk to me. I love "man out of their time" characters and it looks like they are going to re-vamp my favorite old school pilot to a member of Wilce Portacio's Wetworks.
Right, new and hip.. like in the 90s. Right. No one likes the classics or old school heroes. Hell not even old heroes. Poor Jay Garrick and Alan Scott... will they be relegated to new youth and awesome tech armor like supes? Ugh.
And just as a side note.. That Black Canary costume looks awful. Going to go right back to the same horrid costume from the first Birds of Prey mini are we? Way to be "fresh and new"

I...actually dig the Harley design. It may be a little too skanky, but she looks pretty damn vicious and we may finally get to see a Harley that is a real threat and not just a running joke.
I'm also happy to see that all three members of the Sirens get monthly roles, as I have a soft spot for the Gotham Girls.
If the Super titles meet the rumors, there's a good chance I'd want all four.

Those two new titles don't interest me at all. King Shark goes from Great White to Hammerhead for some reason, and poor, poor Deadshot, why take away his trademark wrist guns? I bet he runs into Grifter for some reason just to have DC gun badass go after Jim Lee's gun badass.

I kind of agree with Tex here. Bedard's recent work hasn't given me total faith in his ability to convey the lighthearted adventures of a teenager with alien tech.

I was wondering what the deal was with having Batman and Batman: The Dark Knight. Does the subtitled series have some implication that more knowledgeable comic fans could expound on? Or is it just a way of having two Batman runs with different authors/artists?

Yeah, was there even a mention of the legacy characters in any of the blurbs? It'll be weird having a DCU without the JSA.
It makes sense, as legacy is probably the most prominent example of continuity, which is now experiencing a backlash. Still, the JSA gave the DC universe a sense of history and complexity that you couldn't really find in Marvel, and it's a shame to seem that unique aspect lost in the redesign.

dropping to 1 superman title seems odd though, unless they purposefully do it to unify the reboot on him before expanding back to add in Superman to the mix.

And of course, all the designs were shaped and refined by the input of a series editor, writer and artist. In the end, we wanted to make sure all the key creators on a title were satisfied with the final look of the characters as the creative teams were the ones who had to live with and draw the new looks on a near daily basis. For instance, on Birds of Prey, the design process started with initial sketches by the series artist Jesus Saiz which Cully and I then used to riff off of. After rounds of input and alterations, the near final looks were then tweaked by Jesus himself at the end. Or on a series like Teen Titans, Brett Booth contributed most of the designs and Cully and I served as sounding boards, tossing out suggestions and visual counterpoints as we hammered out the final looks almost in real time over massive email chains. And lastly, for other titles altogether, the series’ artists did all the designs and Mark and I just chimed in and signed off on the final approvals.
I mean I am sure she will be a major player over in Batwoman, but still. They are outright trying to diversify the DCU and they don't use the hispanic lesbian crimefighter.

Those two new titles don't interest me at all. King Shark goes from Great White to Hammerhead for some reason, and poor, poor Deadshot, why take away his trademark wrist guns? I bet he runs into Grifter for some reason just to have DC gun badass go after Jim Lee's gun badass.

I was wondering what the deal was with having Batman and Batman: The Dark Knight. Does the subtitled series have some implication that more knowledgeable comic fans could expound on? Or is it just a way of having two Batman runs with different authors/artists?
It's bound to royally piss of Alex Ross who will stomp up and down the halls before going to his room and hug his 70's action figures and crying about it.
The thought pleases me.
But I'll wait on Suicide Squad until I hear how Legion of Doom is received.
It makes sense, as legacy is probably the most prominent example of continuity, which is now experiencing a backlash. Still, the JSA gave the DC universe a sense of history and complexity that you couldn't really find in Marvel, and it's a shame to seem that unique aspect lost in the redesign.

and at this point it is almost guaranteed to be Morrison on Action Comics. He has no other books announced that I remember seeing, and why else would they save it for last?
