Damn. I really wish I could get Saints Row 2 to run nice on my pc.
Three different pc's since I bought it and none of them have been able to run the game without massive slowdowns, stuttering and just terrible framerate in general.
I hope SR3 gets a better port than SR2. Not like that would be very difficult.

I'm running it at 1280x720 because there's no support for 1360x768. So I dunno. Just wish I could terrorize some folks.
Yeah. I've done all that. Windows 7 and 7200rpm.
I decided the ninja outfit, while fun, looked a little bulky (even without my fat boss). I came up with this instead, using paintball masks and swat gear.

If you have Realtek HD Audio drivers, have you tried switching to simple stereo? I know that's helped a couple people as a last resort.

How would I do this?
Fair warning: I didn't bother installing them on my system, so this is secondhand knowledge I got from others who said it fixed the stuttering after everything else failed.
My understanding is there's a Realtek HD Audio icon that runs in your system tray that lets you adjust surround sound and all that stuff. Double clicking it gets you into your sound settings where you disable all effects and enhancements and change it from surround to stereo.
Disable ancient occlusion, or whatever that one setting is. Might be anisoptric filter or something to that effect. Also disable motion blur as that's a bit funky.
The more I watch those two leaked vids, the more I like what I see. Some of the animations are rough, and the street is bizarrely shiny, but the game looks fun as hell.
I'm still trying to figure out why the hell your machine won't run it. I mean, with those specs, it should be fine. What about running it in compatibility mode for Vista, or something?
Did you try the new version of powertools that automatically calculates the timescale? Maybe you had it set too high/low? http://saintsrowpowertools.com/beta.html
Do you have at least 2200 Mb Available memory when looking at Task Manager before running sr2?
EDIT:
Have you tried running windowed instead of fullscreen?
What are these rough animations? I only saw one melee QTE glitch.
I don't know, some of the melee animations seemed a little odd, the one melee combo looked like bad pro wrestling, with the Boss's hands nowhere near the guy he was punching. Overall, it looked great.
I just played SR2 for nearly four hours. Such a fun game. I'll be sad when my nephew asks for it back.

I don't know, it's pretty obvious that they are going for a 'pro wrestling' feel with that moveset.

One of those npcs where it looked off was already dead (you could see the blood under her head before the QTE even started.) I think the engine just glitched when it shouldn't have let you continue the beatdown.
It would be hilarious if the boss wasn't hitting him on purpose.
The Boss snaps a neck in an effort to remove a mask, feels slightly embarrassed. He’s not above snapping a neck or two, has no particular affinity for necks, but it wasn’t what he was trying to do in this particular case. In fact, it was quite the opposite: he’d begin the altercation with the idea that if he could remove the mask, its host (this would be the Pierce word for it) might be able to leave, maybe even catch a late movie. Maybe he would see someone at the movie, someone substantially more interesting than the screen. Maybe what seemed like a one-off thing wouldn’t be, because that happens sometimes, and maybe fifty years from now they would be arguing over which bell pepper looked the freshest. Stupid, Goddamn, sticky, stupid masks

Yeah, hopefully that was the case.
Saints Row 2 had... three? four? unique combat styles. I wonder if SR3 will have multiple styles to choose from.
Seems like the majority has been spent on the new pro-wrestling moves, I don't know if we'll get other styles. There seems to be plenty of unique animations though.

I'm not even sure if I'm the one that killed him.
Fun fact: Sometimes if a Saint is driving a chop shop car, they'll scream and drive off in terror as a normal citizen would.
Did you go through the SR2 PC FAQ? There are a few ways to help with the performance problems with the port, and most people can get it to run well now:

Also, what are your specs?

Tried everything I could find.
They show the player dual wielding kobras with lights attached in the leaked videos posted last night in the thread.

That's bizarre. I've got an i5 2500, 8GB RAM, and a GTX 460 and it runs like butter at high settings in 1680 x 1050.
What OS? What hard drive rpm?
Did you clear out prefetch, reboot, and make sure you had nothing else running? Did you use powertools to get the game running at the right speed?
http://steamcommunity.com/id/idolninja
Yeah. I've done all that. Windows 7 and 7200rpm.

You can't see me.
Just so my post isn't too short, have this too. My Boss that kinda reminds me of Bluto from Popeye or something

So I dunno. I guess I'll go play something else while I wait for SR3.
Too bad there aren't sliders for the arms so that you could have giant arms on a skinny guy. That would be amazing with the milkbones cheat.

After you cleared out prefetch and rebooted, did you check the folder and make sure that sr2 created a .pf file after it first ran?

Turn off motion blur and ambient occlusion?

The auto timescale is only working correctly for some users. It seems to be about a 50/50 shot. We're still working on it.
Other than a clean OS reload, I'm officially out of ideas. Sorry man.
