After this game comes out, all we need is a great Predator game and a great Terminator game and the 80's sci-fi triumvirate will be properly represented in games
Just remake the first Terminator DOS game and update it. It was way, way ahead of its time to begin with.

"But the thing we're most excited about is: what can we do with the controller? So the obvious thing for us is that we can do the motion tracker [on the controller screen], or the sentry gun information – all that kind of stuff. That stuff is really sexy for us. Getting the information off the screen and onto this device is a fantastic idea, right? So can we have a HUD-less environment? Yeah, probably. That would be fantastic, right?"
That was my hope from the beginning — the motion tracker on the Wii U controller. You could feel just like Hudson towards the end of the movie, looking up and down from your screen. "Five meters, man. Four!"

Does the WiiU controller have a speaker? If so that would make it more awesome to hear the clicks (then eventually the beeps) coming from it.
The thing I didn't like about the Alien Vs Predator games was that you always had a motion tracker on your hud. I guess I would have liked it better if it was something like the flashlight from Doom 3.
It could beep at your side, and you could take a look at it, but you couldn't always have it on your hud with a weapon ready.
The WiiU controller as the motion tracker though, that will make me get this game easily.

The original AvP had it you could have either night vision up (and the fucking game was dark so you needed it) or the motion tracker, it was definately a nerve wracking decision.

I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
Yeah, I'm planning on buying it unless everyone gives it a 2/10. I can't remember the last time I was this excited about a game... besides Colonial Marines that is.
I was about to pick and choose the best quotes, but I was *this* close to quoting the entire thing. Here are the bullet-points.
- It's a Metroidvania.
- You get a motion tracker.
- You will revisit places from the movies.
- You can permanently die. As in, no restarting.
Hell, I'll quote that part:
In fact, the aliens can completely defeat you. In a bold move, WayForward has created a game that can be lost if you don't play well. That's "lost" as in "total game over." The player can control a squad of up to 19 marines, and if one is lost, he or she is gone forever. When all 19 are gone, there are no more continues.
Losing to a xenomorph isn't always instant death, mind you; sometimes your current marine will be captured and cocooned, but they can be rescued by comrades. Some captured humans will be selected as hosts for facehuggers, though, and at that point that marine is effectively dead (even if it's a matter of time before they realize it).
Sounds damn cool.

Put me down as a sissy if you like, but I'm not the world's biggest fan of permadeath. At least not for this kind of game.
Spelunky, Nethack, that kind of thing is randomized. Here, though, a game over means hours of going through the same stuff you did at the beginning, unless I'm very much misinterpreting.

Theres no way this game will be 2/10. This game is going to be boss.
My only gripe is that since I converted to 3DS, the games visuals are going to suffer on my bigger screen. I know it would be confusing to consumers, but they shoulda put out a 3DS enhanced version.

Which is kinda not the most fun.
I'm guessing you were born post-1990.
In that neighborhood, maybe, but I've served my time in the trenches.
Megaman 2 completed, Mario 1, 3, and Land, Blaster Master, and a lot of those awful forgotten games with impossible to spell names messed about with and good progress made, all that.
And you know what?
Permadeath sucks. And even in those days, games sometimes had the sense to realize it. Mega Man 2, to go for a game with a nice solid reputation in general, had unlimited continues from the start of a level and a healthy password system.
It's not a coddler, but it realized a fairly basic truth most games then didn't, and some still don't. Going through level one again is boring. Once you've mastered a section, odds are you don't want to go back for a bit.
Why someone doesn't do a screenplay treatment of the Stephen Perry book trilogy for a new set of Aliens movies is something that will always baffle me.
True, they are kind of pulply and basically easy reading but the feel is right. They still carry classic Alien/science fiction themes like "man should not meddle with nature, lest he be trod upon by his own creations," but are streamlined enough to encourage scriptwriters to add their own scenes.
See, that 19 marines thing pisses me the hell off. Why? Because I'm massively OCD and the second I lost one marine, even like five feet from the end of the game, I'll have to restart. And I don't think I have the time to do that with games anymore, or patience.
I mean, if you can save (and I don't mean checkpoint or temp saves) fine, cause then I can save and if I lose a marine just go fuck around without having to worry I need to start all over, I can reload AFTER said fucking around. I don't mind that. But if it's some automatic ironman mode permadeath setting, that's nice to have as an OPTION, but there is a reason realism mode in Fallout:NV was an OPTION as well. It's neat, but god I don't want to do it more than once.
Unless this game is incredibly short and arcadey (read: not even worth saving in as you do the whole thing in a sitting), in which case none of this applies, but I hate those kinds of games anyways.

Infestation will be wonderful. It reminds me of the Alien 3 SNES game, and a bit of the AMAZING arcade game.

It's an Aliens game. Marines die sometimes!

Or you could invest in some impulse control and not HAVE to 100% do the game perfectly right. Seriously. Dying doesn't mean you didn't complete the game, it just means you died some. I would actually really appreciate it if game devs would stop catering to this sort of attitude and make it so that in-game failures have actual repercussions. I'm really tired of game design where there's absolutely no downside to failure and 100% "completing" the game is more important than actually completing the game.

I think the whole game looks 120% shit-hot and I just saw it for the first time 10 minutes ago. I fully expect this to be added to my handful of games which justify me keeping a DS around for some time to come.
You actually have "mans". Your 1ups are saving them from cocoons.
It actually reminds me of the system used for the Aliens in AvP on the Atari Jaguar. As an Alien you couldn't heal at all but you could attack and cocoon marines which then began to incubate a chestbuster. When your Alien died, as they always did, if you had a chestbuster matured enough to "hatch" it busted out and that was your new life. Otherwise it was game over man. Game over!
Funny, I'm not a fan of Permadeath in general and I was born in 1980.
Infestation with platforming sounds intriguing, and I'm not saying limited mans is an utter dealbreaker, but that's not a feature I actively seek out either.
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!
You guys know the best way to make a late-night trip through an unlit house infinitely more scary/fun? Having the sound of the motion tracker set as the text alert on your phone.
If we're lucky, both games will have booths at PAX. And the Gearbox panel on Sunday should have something to show as well. Between Duke, Borderlands 2, and Colonial Marines, they should put on a good show.
EDIT: Oh and Brothers In Arms: Furious Four. I almost forgot.
