The catch is, from what they've said, blue/purple doffs and maybe green ones can't die on assignments unless it's one they'll always die on like the Klingon executions, they can only end up in sickbay for a while.

Well phooey, where's the fun of having red shirts on staff if they can't do their job properly?

EDIT: Wait, what about white doffs?

White doffs don't go to sickbay, they die.

    Excellent.

I'm going to have to get the TOS bridge so that my red shirt sacrificing is even more hilarious.

I'd recommend the TOS bridge to any fans of the series. It's easily among the most "trek-feeling" stuff in the game. Kind of like the Galaxy bridge, except the entire ship fits with the theme and you don't feel like a midget inside it.

    Relic of several things.

    A. Originally it was planned for bridges to be part of PVP combat somehow (like your team losing a fight in space would lead to a ground battle as they board one of your ships), so they were scaled to allow for 5v5 firefights.
    B. Their original camera code sucked ridiculously and freaked out in tight quarters. This seems to have been fixed for the most part.
    C. The way the crew stat works, you're likely to have 25-30 dead at any time on your Defiant. Cruiser captains literally have hundreds of corpses stacked up in the corridors. Ships need to be big enough to stack the coffins.

They're also still considered social zones - you can actually pack 70 people into your bridge if you keep sending invites.

The TOS bridge and interior fixes things a lot. It's still upscaled, but its the normal upscaling you see in most 3D games, especially MMOs. It's probably similarly scaled to the hobbit holes in LOTRO, which are still pretty cramped but a tall human or elf can walk around them with head room and won't block doorways.

I would pay serious money for a TNG store set similar to the TOS set. It would include:

    TNG Dress Uniforms
TNG Season 1-2 uniforms that would also be used by enlisted crew
TNG Doctor's uniform with the lab coat
TNG Alternate 1-2 season women's uniform with the skirt thing. Bonus if men can wear it like in the show.
    Rescaled Galaxy class bridge
TNG Galaxy class interior hallways with Ten-forward, sickbay, and engineering that are all show appropriate, filled with crew wearing TNG uniforms.

This would make me very happy.

    Two things.

First, damn this double XP thing kicks ass. Just reminded me my VAs all have those double XP chips, I think I'm going to give them to my two feds I'm leveling, speed things up a bit.

Second, I've had 228 Atari tokens kicking around for awhile now, decided to splurge and buy an Aenar officer. Why did no one tell me it has an awesomely cool power of being able to create a fake copy of itself for use in combat? I mean, there we were, fighting on P'Jem when I see her get engulfed in this huge blue ball of whatever, and next thing you know there's TWO of them....

Need to get me one of those for my tac officer now. Be handy when calling in the red-shirts.

I need to find this room. But only if its full of space hookers and space blow, none of that Earth bullshit.

EDIT: Yeah, I assumed that the interiors were just copy/pasted so all ships have the same insides. I switched to using a Defiant looking bridge and it looks appropriate. A bit wide, but appropriate. I do enjoy running around my ship that has a crew of 50 and no windows and seeing hundreds of people and a bunch of windows though.

They should do Trek-accurate reproductions of all the iconic bridge/ship interiors, and put em in the C-Store. In addition to Timspork's TNG pack, they could have a TMP-era pack with bridge, interior, and perhaps some level-scaling "pulse" phaser banks, as seen in Wrath of Khan.

A lot of that could be gear differentials, as well as a premade team helping each other burst/take advantage of exploits. The thing about cryptic's combat system is that it's mechanics are similar in Ground and space, so once you learn and understand one, it's not too difficult to really have them both click.

I'm gonna be getting a team of us together soon for some test runs of Premade goodness to see if there's any interest in actually doing it in our fleet.. I might be changing fleets if I decide to really play a lot again just to get into some fo the PvP leagues that're out there, will keep me interested in grinding, and keep me sharp as far as builds and what not...

The PvP scene is dictated by flavors of the month, and complimentary strategies.. There's a whole book of complimentrary strategies, an d minutea that make the system have a bit of shelf life, but going into all of it is a bit overwhelming, and boring, so if any of you have more direct questions, just post them on here, or ask me, and I'll answer back ASAP..

As far as the premade, we should try and do it before season 4 drops, so probably sometime next week.. After the Q double XP stuff because PvP isn't too great for rewards, unfortunately (one of the things that if they fixed, would definitely help the game have a bit more life..)

I might bitch about being curbstomped alot in PvP however just had a 15-0 victory in fed versus fed. All down to teamwork. Someone was calling a target and everyone would hit it and smash it flat. That and we had a good tight fedball going.
Normally that should be done every match but often doesn't happen.

Thanks for the team last night Voodoo and Spork. Tons of fun. I would like to try and do it again tonight. I've gotta replay the first Breen mission so I can get my Mk IV Breen Deflector. Once I've got that though we can head into Dividian Space and do those missions/dailies. I'd like to try and hit commander by the end of the event, but hoenstly I think I'll get close enough by the end of tonight. I went from Ltcmdr1 to 3, so I figure I'll be LtCmdr 5 or 6 by the end of tonight.

Should be fun though, means I can run through all the Regulus and Pi Canis missions WAY above the levels I need to be. lol. The XP will be shit, but should be a breeze to play through.

I've been finding that if you're on the ball with mission running, you're gonna end up doing missions below your level anyway. When I finally got into doing the Romulan stuff, I was about 6 levels higher than the missions called for.

Oh well, it just makes my phaser cannon volleys even more hilarious.

I can't wait to get home and get back to it, this game is tons of fun. I'm just kinda annoyed that I'll ship back out to work right on the day Season 4 drops. Boo.

I won't be on till 9cst though. If you can wait till then that would be awesome, but if you can't I understand. I did go ahead and do the first two in the series so you can do those so we don't waste too much time. I can always repeat them if necessary.

I even got a TOS uniform set up for the time travel so we can do it in style.
