Actually, Bixby could probably be a holographic representation now.
Now that would be funny. And very creepy.
That's sort of like meeting someone who couldn't part with a favored pet, so they had them stuffed and mounted in their home after they died. Only in this case, they're practicing a questionable form of necromancy.

Worse, Starfleet command could tap into the holograms logs and find out who's been talking to him and why.

I can see it now. Holo-Bixby, showing up out of nowhere, giving pep talks to down-on-their-luck kids...The same pep talk he gave Picard decades ago, in the same tone, and cadence.
Yeah, we could go places with this. Very disturbing places.

Wait who are we talking about? Jerome Bixby wrote several episodes of the original series including Mirror, mirror.

There was a character in Star Trek named Bixby as well (likely a tribute).
It's been a while, but IIRC he was a grounds keeper or janitor or something at Starfleet Academy who had been working there forever and was always around to give troubled students a pep talk or inspiring word of advice.
Edit: Or the above might be completely wrong and confused with Boothby.

Yeah I was going to say... I was trying to figure out who the hell you were talking about. Boothby on the other hand...
A few people got banned from the STO forums for posting this, but anyway, somebody out there's hacked the data files and managed to pull out the scenery for Starfleet Academy. They sure put a lot of detail into that court yard.
That looks really nice.
I wonder if we'll recruit our first doffs right out of the academy.
That's what they get for pre-patching it. The new Enterprise is probably on there somewhere too....hmm.
Apparently they took the new Enterprise back out, but it was in there... it was accidentally available as a ship costume on Tribble's foundry for a few hours. Only a few people managed to see it because part of the editor was broken at the time and you needed a mission saved in a very specific state or it would crash when you clicked on a map, and nobody will show the screenshots they took.
Interesting Tribble change, they releveled the feature episodes. On initial release and during replay weekends, they'll still start at LT6, but outside of that they fit in higher in the progression. Not sure exactly what levels, but none of them are available to an LTC6 character.

Well considering they supposedly take place on or near DS9 I'd assume that they would be late Commander early Captain.
Just ran into someone claiming to be Steven Erikson (author of the Malazan Books of the Fallen). He sent me a private message saying thanks for reading the books as my character and ship name are from that series. Either its true, or the most polite bit of trolling i've ever seen.
I got to LTC9 today on my Tac. I am actually not looking forward to hitting Commander because that means it will be time to buy nice pretty new weapons and consoles and such. When I hit LTC half of the stuff I got off the trader was bugged and couldn't be equipped.
I really don't want that to happen again.
On the plus side, I probably won't be able to hit Commander until Thursday or Friday at the earliest because my new PC is coming in tomorrow and then I will have to redownload ALL THE THINGS and get it all nice and set up.
So don't expect to see me flying around for a couple days.
So we get stiff once in a while. So we have a little fun. What’s wrong with that? This is a free country, isn’t it? I can take my panda any place I want to. And if I wanna buy it a drink, that’s my business.

Not sure if anyone is interested, but if/when you get a chance, hit my mission on Tribble to review the prototype.
For now I'm trying to grasp the concept of object/effect placement/usage. The core of the story will remain, but the concept is going to be overhauled. I realized today that while the core story is good, the progression is not so much. But the new one I've thought up today, that one will work gloriously.
Foundry on Holodeck is down at the moment. If you go to Tribble it's there, for now.
To get it at you need to go to the missions window, select "Community" or something and become a reviewer. Then go to the "review" one and find mine. Mine will be there until reviewed by enough people. Ideally I don't want it reviewed for now.
I'll be constantly making changes to it, but for now this is its second iteration.
So, what's the verdict on Breen shield vs Reman shield?
On the one hand for the Breen, I need it if I'm going to use the energy drain beam thing that a full set gives.
On the other hand, the Reman shield makes my ship look awesome.
I'm on my VA, so pretty much the only thing left to do is get my ass kicked for a while by the Borg, so that might be taken into account.

While I've been at work I've come to the horrible realization that if I want high end Tetryon weapons, then Imma have to get them made. I can't think of any missions that give out purple Tetryon cannons/turrets.
Speaking of the Aegis set, is there any trick to getting them to down rank? That is to say, if a vice admiral makes them, it seems that they then require a vice admiral rank to use, even after being traded to a lieutenant character. Is there any way to get around that, or is that not how it usually works?
The set has a minimum rank of RA lower half, or 41. Other than that, the VA making them shouldn't change anything. My fed sent them over fine to my fresh 41 Klingon.

There's almost no purple mission rewards at all. Anyway, you do have options besides crafting. The mark of exploration vendor at Battlegroup Omega and the emblem vendor at ESD/Quo'nos have the full run of purple space and ground weapons. Mark of exploration gear is pretty cheap with the emblem trade down available, you can fully kit your ship and crew in a week. Emblem gear is pretty expensive, but it's a more focused grind with a more visible endpoint than scraping up the crafting mats.
just hang on to any of the stuff you pick up, and you should have enough to give someone to craft whatever. Hit me up in-game and we can figure out what you need.
Thanks Avynte, we couldn't figure out why it wasn't going any lower than that. Was really hoping we could pimp out a couple lowbies with the Aegis set. Alas...

Ugh. Going to need to craft some Aegis for my Tac pretty soon. He's almost RA.

I haven't gotten to Battlegroup Omega just yet (that's a Borg sector thing, right?). So I guess the grind won't be too terrible since I'll be pretty new to it. I don't have a lot to grind out anyway besides my guns and consoles and the biggest one there is making sure I get the guns done first due to the rarity damage change in Season 4.

Ah, thanks. Yeah, it was probably lower admiral rank, I was just misremembering. I only heard about the scaling part, and not about the minimum rank. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Okay I'm getting sick of being thrown into Elite level missions when I set to normal.

I wouldn't stress over it too much. The missions in Gamma Orionis were pretty fun and it's not that hard. I think going through my first time I still had green and blue VIII's equipped because the content was going by so fast :P
This time around red side I've only got white X's equipped and it's a complete joke.
Once you hit VA and start seriously looking at tweaked setups for STF's, then it's worth worrying about, hehe.
I'm just peeved at the fleet action debacle. I was excited about doing the big dig on my VA so I would have something to do, and of course now nothing seems to pop, ever. Lame. I hope they get it fixed soon.
So i see this is on sale at direct2drive for 6$ today and I had a question i've heard conflicting reports about, can I buy it, add the key to my already existing account and get another months playtime out of it? I really don't find the game worth 15$ a month but 6? sure why not

Bixby is still there. Watching. He's always watching.
Bixby is an Undine infiltrator-admiral. It worked in Voyager!

2 Grav Wells is sooo sooo much fun.
We should really try that trick in PVP.

There's an issue with some level-matching missions scaling to the wrong difficulties.
On the one hand for the Breen, I need it if I'm going to use the energy drain beam thing that a full set gives.

Well, maybe not the Borg set, but that's up for debate.
