So I picked SF4 up again. I picked up a stick.
And man, am I terrible. After 4 or 5 hours of playing my record is something like 1 win to 45 losses. I used to be decent at Street Fighter back in the day. Of course, I only had like 10 people to play against.
I hope I'm just adjusting to a stick. I have trouble with quarter circles with this thing. The square gate is making me a little crazy. I keep jumping instead of moving forward or backwards. Viper is unplayable because I keep screwing up her fire kick thing because I keep jumping.
Will I eventually get better with a stick, and will I ever win more than one game online? Any advice for a shitty player?

You just have to keep using it. It took me about a month to feel comfortable with my stick and now I'm glad I have it.
Sounds like some shady stuff went down at SBO with Banana Ken and Hsien Chang's team:
• Fubarduck on Twitter explained some drama that happened at the SSF4 AE tournament. Hsien Chang and Banana Ken had won the PlanetZero qualifiers for an SBO spot, but due to an oversight by the staff running SBO, they had too many teams qualify for the tournament, and had to have a pre-tournament game between them and the players from Kuwait to see who would be allowed to enter. Team USA lost this match.
Okay so apparently a friend of mine signed me up for a tournament without telling me.
So here I am about to get destroyed. They are streaming it though so maybe you guys will see me get destroyed.
Its a Chicago tournament. My handle is Zerostar and im probably the only Juri player here.
But if you learn to play with it on your lap you can play with it anywhere comfortably. And the best advice to get used to the stick is to just play with it. It took me a long time before I finally got to the point where I was starting to feel some kind of comfort with a stick. I still have issues with some things, namely dashing right in a quick fashion. For a while I had a really hard time doing quarter circles so in an attempt to get used to it, I'd do simple, silly things like force myself to do twenty straight fireballs from each side. Or fifty straight. Or more than my previous best. Eventually it just became normal. Now the problem that I have is that I spent so much time in training learning the stick but not enough time actually fighting people so I have a harder time with defense and gingerly moving in and out of the position I want to be in. Or rapid series of dashes.
It helps to have friends that are at about your level so that you don't get discouraged and you can just try to have fun while playing with them. I wish I spent more time playing against my buddy just so that I'd have more time in game spent on a stick than in training.
So, been screwing around with the Challenges, as I have no one to play against and Training mode gets boring after a while. Are the combos they give you worth learning, or would I be better off looking on SRK?
And still can't settle on a main. Sagat is okay but damn he's slow, while Sakura is fast but kind of iffy, and I feel lost using anyone but a shoto.
At AiaB, some folks pitched in and we paid for SBO. Daigo was angry as hell.
Daigo was mad at you for paying for SBO?
HE WAS ANGRY AT THE TOURNAMENT!
Though, he might have been angry knowing Americans were watching the stream. They were banning people who spoke anything but Japanese.
Wait, seriously? We welcome them with open arms to our tournaments and streams but us showing up at their stuff is a travesty? Daigo was giving the yanks shit? How the hell did this all come about?

Sagat's got awesome burst speed if you get the hang of Tiger Knee's distances. I use it a lot after a knockdown to close the gap quickly and resume my TIGER TIGER TIGER TIGER TIGERing. You gotta be careful not to overextend yourself though due to his atrocious backpedaling.

No, Daigo was angry at the people behind SBO. Two teams qualified under SBO's rules, but were then denied by officials (one Taiwanese and one US team. The US team was allowed to fight for the 32nd spot, but were defeated by the team from Kuwait (who are really great players by the way)). The mods on the Pay Per View chat were (apparently) banning non-Japanese speakers. And none of the US teams even made it on stream, despite hundreds of US customers blindly figuring their way through the HORRIBLE PPV process in order to pay for the stream.
There was some great play at this year's SBO, but there was also quite a bit of bullshit and drama. That's why Daigo and a few other Japanese players who have crossed the pond to play over here weren't pleased.

Most of the challenges are not something you should ever be using in a match. Bits and pieces of them, yes. The combo they're teaching you in the trial, no. They're often extremely flashy and wasteful and not very practical.
To be fair, there are some combos in the trials that you'll actually want to use with that character like Rose's cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.lk, cr.mp xx ex soul spiral trial.

My stick does shit that your stick wish it could
What are popular websites for specific stick parts? I want an octogonal gate but don't want to be getting a whole new joystick along with it
Also, free stick art at chaoshat.com (that's me).

You bastard, I actually tried to go to that site.

It's flat on my desk.
You can do it!
Ok, question. How the fuck does that zangief player from the tournament videos do a standing and walking 720 zangief/t-hawk ultra?
Seven times and counting.

Never thought of that, though I was wondering why you'ed use one over the other.

Also, Aquapazza? WTF! They didn't even demo the new Persona fighter, but little girls beating the shit out of each other was all the hype...

I don't see any bullshit with that counter. Perhaps the Rufus player would be angry, but it was a fair and well timed move.
