Girlfriend and I are arguing about MLP. She's disgusted with the new series. Says the pony designs are hurtful. She admits it's a nostalgia thing, but she's annoyed that I watch it and like it and don't care about her old ponies or that she doesn't like the new show.
TL;DR Girl sees new ponies as an affront to God and the 80s. Should I prepare the orbital friendship cannon? y/n?
I gotta ask: when was the last time she actually watched the old show. I ask because this sounds like a serious case of Nostalgia Goggles.
Kind of like I had for "Captain N and the Game Masters", before I found it again.
Edit: yes I see the part about her admitting to nostalgia, but I think my question is still valid.

Explain that your taste and hers are very different on this issue, and that she shouldn't take a cartoon so seriously.
Hah, okay yeah. It was just meant as a joke in bad taste not meant to be taken seriously. I wasn't sure if that would fly well in the first place, so I'll just edit that out.
It was funny; it contained the power of laughter.
It was true; it contained the power of honesty.
There is no violence, only acceptance; it contained the power of kindness.
It gives the benefit of the doubt; it contained the power of generosity.
He still stays with her; it contained the power of loyalty.
The girlfriend stays with the guy who likes My Little Pony; Magic.

Then he probably should have saved a less blurry version.
I'm sorry your eyes are so used to brightly colored children's animation that you can't handle the windows snipping tool's interpretation of the screenshot o_O
Man, Opal (Rarity's kitty) is the one critter from MLP: FiM that looks weird to me. Almost all of the other creatures, pony and non-pony alike, are perfectly adorable; but Opal is simultaneously cute yet vaguely creepy-looking to me.

what does this even mean?
Yeah, this sounds very much like someone Taking Things Too Seriously.
I'm going to be generous though, and suggest that maybe it was just a poor choice of words.
this came to mind

wow
Not gonna lie though, I laughed.
Therefore it is part of friendship.
That only balances out 2/3'ds of the misogyny.
Sorry, that's how it converts.

I think it's the football head.
She's got a scarred eye and a kitty in her lap.
It's a James Bond villain, duh. That whole theme is a complete cliche at this point.
As to which villain specifically, I wouldn't know. I'm not even sure the picture itself is a specific character reference.
