FXO to compete as a standalone team. WeMade FOX will compete with their SC2 division combined with 3 foreigners who got Code A seeds. Presumably this includes Naniwa, Thorzain, who are going to GSL Code A for August, + ???? (unannounced so far).
So total team count is 12, who will compete in two groups of 6 in a league format.
By my count, the teams are
1. Incredible Miracle (IM)
2. MVP
3. Old Generation Starcrafters (oGs)
4. STARTALE (ST)
5. Prime
6. ZeNEX
7. for Our utopia (fOu)
8. SlayerS
9. TSL
10. NS_HoSeo
11. FXO
12. WeMadeFox's team, which I think is called F.United.
So the other week I played a few 4v4s, and a couple 2v2s with a friend.
I know i always say I hate them, and I gotta say...
i was right. what was i thinking. what a waste of time that could have been 5 productive 1v1s. Ugh. My random teammates were not terrible, but it was still not very fun. And while it was fun playing with a friend, we would have had more fun doing 1v1s against each other than 2v2s together. Nothing but rushes and stupid things. Our opponents without fail either crushed us with some sort of timed combined all-in, or were completely terrible at this game beyond any shred of belief.
Seriously, watch Day9's dailies on 2v2s. Playing 2v2s without seeing them is stupid.
The worst losses for me are when I'm playing pretty well, keeping up/ahead in macro, and then something happens like a Baneling drop or some rocks get knocked down or my army is out of position and it's just like "I... I didn't account for that". A well-played game ruined because you didn't notice or prepare for one thing.

Those dailies changed the way I look at 2v2. There's still a lot of bullshit that I will never ever beat, but it puts you in weird situations and frequently is more micro intensive than your average 1v1 game. It's a great way to warm up or blow off steam and nothing's better than rushing some poor zerg and then macroing up to kill his partner.

i've watched those dailies, but i just can't shake my general impression that the team game side of things is nothing more than a filler game mode added to please those who don't have the guts to 1v1.
i know thats not true and doesn't make a ton of sense but its how i feel and it colours my enjoyment of those game modes because i feel like i'm wasting time that could be spent playing "real" Starcraft.

You are approaching 2v2s like a 15 year old approaches sex. You have a general idea of what you want to do, but really you are just fumbling around each other's naughty parts.

When I play non-1v1's, I play as Terran, because otherwise I wouldn't get the chance.
Man, their macro is so goddamn easy
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. I have a much easier time macroing as Terran than Protoss. Having to move to something to build units? EULGH.
Yeah yeah warpgate is overpowered and all that but it's so tedious. I prefer my 4qqqqqqqq much more.

I have a lot more trouble with Terran macro. The actual building of units is easier, but when it comes to having enough of the buildings, thats harder, because its soo subjective to what you're doing.
With Protoss, as you take more bases, you generally just add more warpgates. yeah, you might add an extra robo, or an extra forge for double upgrades, or even a templar archives for a tech switch, but generally speaking you pretty much only add warpgates.
Terran, though. Even when going bio, the amount of extra barracks you need depends greatly on what you're producing. Marauders? You need less barracks than you do if producing marines, unless you put a reactor on it, in which case that changes things as well because you're using a lot of minerals but no gas. And what if you're going marine/tank vs Zerg? maybe you should add a second factory on your second base? Its very difficult to know exact numbers.

iNcontroL just let all his colossi die and went mass (0/3/3 as far as I could tell) chargelot/blink stalker/archon and it did really, really well.
FXO have their stream from the GOM house set up, and they're rotating players on it. tgun currently. qxc apparently beat Bomber on the ladder.
Tgun playing, and is softer than the rest of the house. Kind of was like "who is mumbling I can hear everyone in the house"

EBgames (aussie gamestop) has Heart of the Swarm listed for $58 AUD. At the moment the USD is worth slightly less than the AUD, but I'm fairly sure game prices in AUD are still inflated so you guys can probably expect to pay around $40 or even $35 for it, based on that, given that you paid $60 for Wings of Liberty and we paid $99

is FXOtgun's name pronounced like Eff ex oh tee gun?
Or eff ex ott gun, as in the second half of "shotgun". Thats what I always pictured it as, a name intended to work with the FXO label
(T)MMA vs (P)Sage
(Z)Check vs NEXBuja
(T)MarineKing vs (P)Smart
(T)Ryung vs (Z)Leenock
(T)Genius vs (T)Rain
(T)sC vs (T)Gaebyul
(T)SuperNoVa vs (P)IMYonghwa
(Z)DongRaeGu vs (T)Taeja
And the Ro16 is supposed to start today. But I have no fuggin' idea if it's going to be broadcast or not.
Teamliquid thread is as confused as anyone as to whether its going to be broadcasted but most people seem to think its finals only broadcast, on the same day as GSL finals.

Seems strange to not broadcast... you drum up a lot of interest + advertising opportunities.

the leagues don't mean a whole lot, particularly your initial placement. they are a rough approximation of skill, but its especially difficult to quantify objectively
a silver player is better than a bronze player? yeeeahhh mostly, but by how much? hard to say.
So battle.net just went down.
playing a game before the shutdown, just began a TvT. without words i guess we both decided to marine/scv all-in. My tighter early game meant I had 4 marines to his 3, and more scvs.
to his credit, he could have floated a building away and been able to claim a draw when the system went down, but he took his loss

Especially with no super tournament games on this week.
Which is like wat

I beat two terrans 2v1 with them, my ally rolls out with mass vikings later on.
I have no idea what leagues mean basically. All I know is I usually finish games with over a thousand minerals. Sometimes over two.
