I think *most* of the people in the thread play single player. It's still a lot of fun, I prefer it.

I killed the Eater of Worlds (More like the Snacker of kingdoms) and the game is now significantly easier, it seems. I got a full set of Shadow armor and a nightmare pickaxe. I used it to gather the obsidian I made earlier (A tunnel flooded, it was above a lava pool.) thus giving me an obsidian skull. While I gathered the obsidian, a second meteor fell. Going to the first meteor impact site, I found the 2nd one, mined it completely, found a demon altar underneath it, in a cave I never explored.
All I need now is to find the 3rd impact site, stripmine it and get a full meteor armor set.
I actually preferred the full Shadow Armor to the full Meteor Armor, because of the attack speed boost. It really helps when you're trying to block fireballs with your pickaxe.
Meteor Armor kind of sucks, not sure why so many people use it. It's not like magic is that useful especially at that point in the game. The space gun is okay but not great.

It looks neat, with the flaming particle effect.
Edit: I just checked. I'm wearing the Shadow armor, but also the Meteor armor in the "Social" slot, which gives me the light effect while moving on top of the superior defensive capabilities and speed enhancement of the Shadow armor... I think.
So yeah, maybe they're just wearing the meteor armor in the social slot to look cool. (Also, I hadn't noticed how the meteor armor set offered LESS defense than the Shadow armor set.)
Meteor Armor kind of sucks, not sure why so many people use it. It's not like magic is that useful especially at that point in the game. The space gun is okay but not great.
Meteor Armor only affects the laser gun now, not anything else mana related.

Each part of it increases mana regen, though. When I tried the armor, I could summon unlimited darkthorns because the mana regen was faster than the attack speed.

I play single player because I started with a 2-3 other people but they got annoyed at the teleporting mobs from lag. I'm sure it's much better now that I'm in mid-level armor and have spare gear for anyone who would join me.
Ok so now I have a full set of gold everything. Killed the eye a couple times, should I know be working my way towards farming the Eater of Worlds? The gold pick just isn't cutting it. Also, I blew up and orb and a meteor crashed. Should I concentrate on that first?

Also, harpies are annoying!
I would suggest getting a Phaseblade before the Eater of Worlds. So collect a bunch of meteor chunks, something like 15 bars' worth, I think.
But you will need a nightmare pickaxe to REALLY mine the meteor, and to get that, you need to beat the EoW.
mine meteors with dynamite, the mans way of mining.
Mining with dynamite is the Fancy Uncle Moneybags way of mining, you mean.
If you need cash, just hang out near the meteor and farm the meteor enemies, they move slow, and can usually be kited. I just stood there swinging my pickaxe and killed a bunch in no time.

The space gun is only really worth it if you are wearing meteor. IMHO. otherwise it costs too much to use for the dmg output you are getting. Maybe if you use "tims hat" its a better tradeoff.

I consider today's patch the first significant update to the game and man is it fucking rad.
I already gen'd a new world (since a lot of shit required it). Found me a spear in an above-ground (well, in a cave still) chest. Spears are pretty goddamn cool weapons, given how they work.

I'm moving all my crap from my old world to my new world. I built a giant freaking vault for all that stuff... Now I need to organize that shit... Uuurrgggh... Gonna take forever, and won't last very long. Probably gonna go with a "levels" plan or something because this is, like, 5 levels of 5 chests (except at the bottom where I put a table and a piggy bank, eating up lots of space.

Just think of the entire world as ancient ruins, with your secret treasures buried underneath.

On another note, hardcore mode is a bust. You still respawn on death, you just lose stats. Your items, including armor, drop on the ground, and you can even go back and pick them up. For anyone familiar with endgame, gaining health and mana won't be difficult, just tedious. So hardcore mode is more like: "Make it slightly annoying to die" rather than "make every battle a fight for your life."

Well that sucks, because I was trying hardcore right now and enjoying the fact that I simply CANNOT die. I guess those things are still annoying though, and I can still treat it like death is the end.
I guess we need a Harder Core mode.

Also, does this work with a USB 360 pad?
I kinda doubt it since it relies heavily on precise clicking for digging and placing things.
