Elf is a boss killing champ. I try to have an Elf in my party always, and now that I'm finding higer level skellingtons, the Elves I do find have like... crazy amounts of Salamander oil and stuff.
I also accidentally found out how to use item shortcuts yesterday. So much more convenient to go from health potions to magic rings or scrolls now. Figured out the cooking minigame too. I can manage to feed everyone in the 90 seconds they give you. My Dwarf always gets the best meals, but the other party members eat pretty well too. Cooking can be a godsend after your third or fourth consecutive dungeon.
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
In your inventory screen you can press right or left on the d-pad on a selected item. It will assign it to one of the face buttons. Then, while playing, if you push up on the d-pad or analog stick (whichever you use to control your inventory), it will bring up the quick select menu.

Yeah, there's a shortcut system. I haven't entirely cracked it. Although, as a Wizard, it's damn hard figuring out what to prioritize on.
You can set item shortucts by pressing left and right on the dpad on anything you've got equipped. I didn't notice it at first because the icons are so tiny, but you can see little face buttons when you do it. Then you can just hold up and press the button to use that item. If we ever get that patch that the japanese version has, eventually you can hold L1 as well.
"The sausage of Green Earth explodes with flavor like the cannon of culinary delight."
I 'cheat' and have up to 5 shortcut keys. First bag item is one item, say healing potions, which I only need to hit down for. Then the next 3-4 items are my shortcut items, then my equipment. Once I get my 10th bag slot, I'll have the last slot be my extra consumable slot so I can just hit Left to scroll over to it from the default item. I just hate trying to scroll through items during a fight. It doesn't matter if I have healing potions if I have to take my thumb off moving my character for more than an instant to get to them.
I think they teach you about item shortcuts I think when you start out, but I promptly forgot about them as there's no need to actually shortcut anything when they teach you.
You mean items like Heal Potions, Defense Potions and other useful stuff that you should shortcut anyway? Shortcuts have saved my bacon on more than one occasion.
I find it rather annoying that I have to use D-Pad up to trigger the shortcut selection, when there's a perfectly useless L button just sitting there for me to reassign that function to. I don't care if L brings up the map in town, or whatever the hell it does in dungeons - that can be D-Pad up.

Japanese version has had a patch for the longest time that does exactly this, it uses L1.
I've also heard ambiguous translations on the matter, but they also added the ability to reveal those hidden sparkly treasures just by moving the pointer over them, no clicking required.
They've had this patch for at least a week. I don't know what the fuck is taking them so long to bring it over.

So I had a few 'lucky' pick ups from the usual post-run trip to the magic shop to get all my stuff repaired and to grab hopefully a few reserve potions and other consumables with a decent use count. I picked up a medium heal potion that has something like 7 uses per trip (my current target is 4-5) and a small heal potion pack that had... 30 uses per trip (and 30 restock count)
It feels awkward to be holding onto like 15 skill points, but I know I'm only a decent run away from nabbing the last Evade and Bag upgrades and I want them ASAP. Speaking of evading, I'm only playing with randoms at the moment but I'm not noticing a lot of people using evade. Against stuff like the Red Dragon, I've watched my party get annihilated by the AoEs while I'm just hopping around abusing the invincibility frames. Am I just playing with bads?

Generally speaking, yes. I use Evade ALL THE TIME. I mean, I still die if I'm not paying attention to certain things going on in a fight, but on most bosses where there are huge tells to let players know you can evade, I'm ready.

Still figuring out how everything works (specifically the B route stuff? And continuing the adventure?), but my PSN is CustomSpecial. I think @Chadzill1983 and I are going to get a couple hours in tonight around 8:30PST (around level 20-ish).
And to clarify, there's no native way to get voice chat in this game on PS3?
I'm guessing beating Medusa in the Temple Ruins is the way to get the Talisman for that area? I almost had her beat (though I wasn't doing so hot myself), but wound up escaping somehow.

None at all. I've taken to using Facebook with some friends and just keeping my phone nearby with the Messenger app to relay quest info or dungeon targets for talismans. I haven't played much with many of the PA'ers.
I'm guessing beating Medusa in the Temple Ruins is the way to get the Talisman for that area? I almost had her beat (though I wasn't doing so hot myself), but wound up escaping somehow.
All the B routes have a timed safe exit where the fight ends, you don't get treasure or the talisman, but live. Basically a DPS gate for your crew.

Some of the DPS gates can be delayed and/or are much more lenient than others. Chimera can be delayed by stunning the Snake/Goat heads and stop them from casting their spells. There's nothing you can do about the Lion head to stop it from firebombing the place.
Medusa and I think Red Dragon you can take all the time you want in their main rooms, assuming you live long enough.
The Killer Bunny has the best 'time failed' event IMHO.
A bunch of 'friendly' knights come rushing in and there's plenty of Holy Hand Grenades of Antioch bombs to throw at the naughty blighter to blow it to bits
So you have to kill the dragon legit instead of going through that event?
Either or. Kill Red in the room (which you MUST do for one of the quests the guild issues) or kill it in the hallway. But if you escape the halls and make it outside on to the collapsing bridge, you will NOT get the talisman.
However, continue the adventure to do the camp afterwards and make sure you cook the chicken both ways (frying pan and soup pot) to fill out your Gourmand trophy. This is the only way to get chicken to appear in camp.
I dont really understand the cooking minigame at all. I just do meat wine salt garlic over and over and over again haha.
Each type of food gives bonuses to health, attack, defense, and/or points. What it gives is kind of based on the rarity of the item and how you cook it i.e. stewing or frying. You only get bonuses from your specific plate. You get the camp minigame after specific dungeons.
You get a better bonus if the food is "done" and not over or under cooked. If you can stir the food, it's not done yet. When you only have the serve icon it's done and starts to over cook.
From what I can tell, condiments and stirring give some points and speed up the cooking process for that piece of food.
If you don't have a lot of people at the camp, use two of the cooking stations. Load up one with condiments and stir, so you can eat that as soon as possible. Then just leave the other station with a piece of food in it, and let it sit. By the time you're done cooking and eating the one that's heavily seasoned, the one you've left idle is completely done without stirring.

Thunder Dwarf is best Dwarf.
Also, pro solution for voice chat: turn on the Xbox and use party chat. Thanks, Obama.
I can't decide which class i like best on this. I haven't even beaten the normal difficult yet because I haven't had that much chance to play. First, I started Amazon playing local co-op with my friends. I really enjoy the Amazon, she's pretty beast, but I'm level 14 so haven't gotten to try her Brandish which seems like it's probably the best thing about her.
I tried Elf but I don't like anything about it except the bow which does awesome damage, but I just run out of arrows fast on bosses and then I have to use her melee attacks which don't flow very well to me.
I finally tried Fighter, and he seems like a beast. I really enjoy the flow of his attacks, especially his shockwave knock up and his air juggle.

Yup.
Grab mook, toss mook clear across the screen. Dash, jump and catch said mook in mid-air, and power bomb that asshole into a crowd of his buddies. Watch as they all go flying from the shockwave.
Then you just stand there and eat a sausage you found in a treasure chest.
Edit: Also, at least on normal, bosses drop large bundles of arrows quite frequently.

Note: this is just how I play my elf. Depending on your build and general play style, this may or may not be applicable. In other words, IMHO:
I feel that the Elf is really restricted when starting out with a 10 arrow quiver. That's kinda natural because everyone is in the same boat but your kick attacks do enough damage to get by. The arrows are your nukes. Get used to scavenging arrows that drop out when you land a few kicks, and don't be afraid to keep kicking when the boss isn't in a good 'state' for you to wind up the shots. In any case, the Elf has a really good long ranged nuke that has no hard usage limitations nor do you necessarily have to open up into a vulnerable state when you recover (Get the chain evades ASAP. They are very good)
10 arrows is really restrictive. 12 is a little bit better, 14 is starting to get good and there's enough room with those extra four arrows to not have to scramble after every shot. 17 is a comfortable number but you still have to be wary of spamming too many arrows. 20 is very nice; You can fight at nearly full power during a boss fight without having to really ration your arrow usage. 25 is heavenly, but at that point you have to then start to change how you spend your arrows because you can really spam out arrows that that point.
Yeah, the Elf's gatling kick combos are really limited compared to the pure melee fighters, but that's to be expected. Her kicks are mainly there to get mobs out of your face, or get your arrows out of their faces. The Elf's dashing kick is her highest damage melee attack, and it bounces enemies off the screen which sets them up for her flip kick and aerial juggles. The Elf is all about positioning to get good attack lines and bursting when the opportunity presents itself. I can unload all 25 arrows extremely quickly into a boss, and the damage that will deal will be rather spectacular. However, doing that is an all-in tactic that will leave me very weak until I can recover my arrows and even then, I'll come close to burning off my class damage consumable in doing so.
Rapid Fire and just firing non-Power Shots can get you through initially, and it's really nice to snap shoot those pesky mage enemies with a quick rapid fire of 2-3 arrows but its usually best in the interests of conserving arrows that you use Power Shot when possible, especially when the enemies are doing such a nice job of lining up for you. That thing hits so damn hard on bosses because most bosses are big enough that a power shot will hit them multiple times (power shot pierces if you didn't know). Also, yes, Power Shot does scale with your weapon damage. Battle Hardened is a really nice skill for this since you can fire a Power Shot even when the situation isn't 100% clear, but don't get too reckless in picking the opportune targets.
I think Dwarf ruined me for other classes though I'll still try everything.
Like I keep trying to throw things, and I miss their power smash. Like when I used whatever the power attack the Fighter has, I was just... that's it?

With Elf, I'm really starting to want to respec because full Rapid Fire is almost detremental at higher levels since you can eat through your arrow stash super quick, AND each arrow after the first has a decreased amount of damage. If anything, get one or two points, and the last arrow you can charge Power Shot to negate the reduction in damage.
I don't mind using a few points on Deadly Boots for the Elf, since it helps with general melee when you need it. Power Shot is a given, but I don't think Impact Arrow is all that good without a larger radius. Elemental Lore is pretty handy stuff, especially when you have casters with you.

I need you in my games at some point. I'm a damage machine too, but clearly not Amazon-level. I need the timed Hard and Infernal mode trophies.
I agree - this should happen. I'm finding the Chaos Lab to be superhard, though. I got through floor 7 just fine, continued on to eight and don't think I made it past 8-1. The Minotaur just kicked the crap out of me, and usually I can just pop a few cooldowns and rush him down.
'Chance, you are the best kind of whore.' -Henroid
Elemental Lore is awesome for elf. I like keeping torches with me and drop it and just fire off homing fireballs over and over, then pick up torch when done. Clone strike+up charge+oil is where it's really at for bosses. Damage going up, damage going down, and then pillars of DOT damage. For mobs I've heard the midair charge is supposed to be good because you're generally extremely safe hovering up there chaining up to 5 shots with kicks and evades, though my positioning is pretty terrible.
You'll also want battle hardened with all that charging. I'll probably remove all rapid shot and boot points when I get the chance.
She destroyed the Ancient Dragon. Like, in a way that would never be possible as a Dwarf. Quaffed a Strong Draught, literally stood under it's head, charged up some clone arrows with salamander oil. Extinction is apparently very good at super high levels, to vanish enemies with absurd health pools.
Finally, Meteor is a very cool spell, but it takes like six seconds to cast and during that time I could have dropped my full combo on a boss and murderized them.
It may not sound glamorous, but the main thing you bring to the table as a Wizard is Slow. That is way better than it sounds though because Slow is an absurdly powerful spell and it works on bosses. You also do a lot of damage, but nothing you're going to do will match the potency if slowing a boss down so much that they can barely move or attack.

You also do a lot of damage, but nothing you're going to do will match the potency if slowing a boss down so much that they can barely move or attack.
