I have a headset that is pretty much one of these:
It had a good life and served me well, but has been falling apart recently. Namely, the length adjuster parts on both sides have been breaking off, but I've helped it stay together with some duct tape to get another 6 months out of it. But the frame is well and truly fucked now. The earphone piece that is connected to the frame now falls free of the headset itself, and is only connected by a wire. I think it has passed the ability of tape-support to keep it functioning.
For now I have a backup headset left here by my girlfriend, but it doesn't have a mic. I was wondering if its possible to remove this earphone piece that holds the mic from the headset frame itself, and turn it into a clip on mic or something. It would involve having to cut that wire that sits in the frame that connects the headphones to the cable, though. Is that doable/simple? Or should I just go get another headset?
I don't particularly like burning through things, as it makes me feel wasteful, so I try to make them last as long as possible. Plus a home made clip on mic sounds pretty neat.
Thanks.
