We're still getting shafted on the release date but Europe has done pretty well content wise this time. Nearly all retailers give you the bonus and you get it in the Augmented version too.
I wanted to get a couple of friends to join GMG through my referral link so that I could save even more money ordering it, but when I go to the referral thingy in the drop down under my screen name there is no link on that page. Do I have to make a first purchase before I even get one?
I believe you need to spend 5 bucks before a referral link is allowable.

The joys of having shit always released on Fridays.
"Oh hey digital distribution eh? Wanna get that game ASAP? Ha! No! Wait until Friday"
I figured that the $30 deal would be at least 6 months worth of time before it went on sale for cheaper...but I just realized that it's an august game, so 50% might be entirely possible at christmas time

For what it's worth, I know some places with certain games get their Steam codes early.
Like, I preordered BRINK via D2D, and got my Steam key in time to preload a few days ahead of time.

Thinking about playing the original again. What are peoples thoughts on the dx10 renderer compared to the enbseries one, since I heard they were incompatible?
Alrighty, I've started playing Deus Ex for the very first time. No mods, pure vanilla. Took Computers, Rifles and... something else, I think. First mission was tough as balls - I tried to go stealth, but ran out of crossbow ammo and shock prod charge pretty quickly, so resorted to a lot of murder. The reload time on the pistol is brutally slow. I'm not a very good agent. Thinking that I should have taken the sniper rifle instead. Took Microfibial muscle as my first aug, as I don't see myself doing much hand-to-hand. Am I on the right track?

Sounds like even though you were stealth, you tried to take out everyone you could
I just sneak past a lot of the dudes, save ammo
But yeah reload is slow on first mission, gotta upgrade your abilities
You probably should have taken the Sniper if you are doing Rifles

There is no such thing as a "right track." You can do whatever you want. You can beat the game without augs.

I like the way ENB series looks, but it's a love it or hate it thing, and the DX10 renderer is incredibly slick (although it doesn't really make things look nicer aside from AA/AF).

New Vision 1.0 is out. 1.5 gigs, the game looks great with this along with the kentie renderer and exe.

Cheers man. I redid the first mission, took the rifle this time, focused on long range kills and crossbow takedowns. Finished in much better shape than last time. Now... is there anywhere to leave my stuff, like a locker at UNATCO? My inventory is full up and I'm such a hoarder

Honestly, that's the one point in the game where there is a right choice.
The GEP gun might be useful.
(And everything else can be taken from corpses on Liberty Island.)
The game went gold a few weeks ago. It's coming out.
Someone should probably put that in the OP.
There's an OP?
So, who wants to ask Tube to add it to the List Of Those Who Are Forbidden?
But seriously, I can't wait for this to drop, but unfortunately it's going to come out while I'm out of town. As much as my instinct will be to hit the forums once I'm back, I'm going to have to avoid this thread like the plague. Luckily, I fly home on the 25th, so I'll only be a few days behind.
Edit: and I always take the Tranq Crossbow to garner Paul's approval.
... the Greatest Lockpick On Earth (aka: The GEP Gun) shows up later anyway.
Forar on
First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!
So im still on the fence about this for some reason (I really dont know why im not jumping on it yet...I loved system shock and played but didnt finish the first deus ex (Crappy computer at the time) when it came out.
Anyway. I was thinking aboug going with the gamestop edition so i get dues ex 1 to play through while i wait. I've never ordered digitally from gamestop before...how does that work?
1) would i instantly be able to download Deus ex 1 or would i have to wait until the new one comes out
2) Is it like a steam client where i could redownload it anytime i wanted ?

So I tried one time to play Deus Ex and I quickly lost interest. I've reinstalled it, installed the modified EXE and the new renderer. The game actually looks pretty decent already. Should I keep it like this and experience the game as close to the original as possible or should I install the New Visions mod?

If you don't mind how it looks right now I'd go with that, just because New Visions might not be good.
Wow, the difference is very striking compared to the old version, which is what I used when I played the game.
Yes, the difference is quite nice. I had to uninstall the old New Vision because some of the textures were just a clusterfuck on the eyes (particularly various brick buildings) but most of that seems to be fixed. I loaded it up this morning with the new New Vision and the included dx10 renderer and the game looks mighty nice.
Well, compared to how it used to look anyway. It is still a nice coat of paint on what was an arguably ugly game already when it was released. But it sure helps a lot having nicer world textures and better lighting; since I couldn't get dx10 renderers to work before this for whatever reason.
Now HDTP needs to finish up their stuff and release to upgrade all the NPC models and the game will be much prettier and less jarring for newer players who can't get past the extremely dated graphics. They've been saying for about a year that their textures and models are done they're just working on animations but...yeah. I mean, good on them, it's their time and energy and I don't want to act entitled but man just release the textures/models. Or shit, just the textures. As far as I can tell the beta(alpha?) version you can get right now only changes a very very small handful of NPC/items. I'm not sure if I didn't install it right before or if there were just so few things changed I didn't notice.

Nope, nowhere to store stuff. That's part of the fun, managing what you should keep or leave behind
Hmm, I could take this multitool
but then where would I put my forty?

Wow. I just realized I'll be on vacation when this comes out. Which means I'll be at a cottage near the beach with no internet, no good TV, no 360... and no Deus Ex. Argh.

For now. I would not be surprised if it shows up as DLC later. Or at least, I'm hoping it does.

This was pretty much my experience as well
GMG says they'll email you a code to enter into Steam. No word about preloading, but I'm assuming no.

Oh dang that's annoying. Whatever though, $12 off is worth day-of download speeds. I don't need to finish the game night one.
