They should have had a system whereby those precious materials somehow rotated around the galaxy every now and then. Maybe every few months? Gives people an incentive to 'settle down' but (one would hope) disincentivises them wanting to turn a region into a fortress?
That would require totally changing how moon mining is done. Basically the logistics of moving moon mining arrays around/taking them down every month would make an already shitty job, astronomically shitty.
I say tear down that whole stinking anti-fun system and start over then. No idea what, but there's got to be a better way.
Its not even just about the logistics behind moon mining... to expect people to 'move around' every couple of months or not have enough to pay the bills would probably cause the logistical teams of all the alliances to commit suicide.
Not even joking... Logistics in eve is fucking terrible.

I will say this for CCP. They've got some fantastic art directors or whatever stuffed in a cubicle somewhere... their trailers always manage to make incredibly boring, mundane things look super thrilling.

My point was to tear down and rebuild the ENTIRE system of owning space. POS's are a terrible method of ownership, especially in moon-heavy systems. I'd make it so every system had 3 POS 'slots' and whoever owns 2 of the 3 has ownership of the system. Make moon-mining like PI but with more financial investment necessary or some such and do away with that whole exhaustive logistical need in favour of people actually playing a game.
But i'm no developer and I'm sure they'd tell me that all of that is impossible or not feasible.

Your understanding about how sovereignty works in Eve is obsolete.
I think the models are running off of their proprietary engine? The cloth looks really good. Also, I think that was more of a EVE Universe trailer than a EVE Online trailer.
We just killed four titans! You should play this game.

I am curious as to why NCdot decided it was a good idea to use titans alone in US Prime Time when we knew they were coming because we have access to their entire forum.
I would love to see a little video contrasting all these trailers of EVE with the actual gameplay.
It would be hilarious.
are you saying EVE doesnt look like that? pff
I think he means more the actions than the appearance. Like in Dominion, that command ship that warps onto a hostile gate and dies horribly.

It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

Mostly that the fleet fight is depicted as fast-moving, decisive and fun.
None of these are present in the usual fleet fight.
Good Fights are obscenely rare.
Visually as well, but that's a bit more obvious.
Half the screen is filled with numbers and little symbols, and there is no reason to zoom in as close as they are in that video.

CCP is apparently launching an investigation about the part of mittani's speech about scamming a suicidal player. Between that and another goon's recent scamming of 100B isk worth of crap from an apparently bipolar player who bought the stuff with plex it makes me wonder how much pressure CCP will take and still hold to their "scamming is allowed' rule. This is doubly true if their 'video cards for plex' pilot becomes a regular thing.
Scamming game money is one thing, but when someone puts in $3000 for that money (wtf) and the scammer can turn that into video cards that he can put on ebay for $2000 that brings up a lot of issues that I doubt CCP wants to deal with.
Wouldn't be surprising if CCP was pressuring him to step down as well, due to cyber-bullying being a hot button issue. Too many high-strung crazies out there that can't separate internet spaceships from reality. Having one go all :royofca: on themselves is bad press.
And I'm still not sure what I think of it. On the one hand; ouch bullying sucks. On the other hand maybe the guy should get real help instead of having 23 Eve accounts spending his life on an MMO that really doesn't matter. Then there's the fact we have no idea if the guy genuinely was suicidal IRL.
But then maybe it's time everyone realised that there comes a time when we need to step back and just be cool to each other instead of doing the goon thing and being monsters. And finally; freedom of speech etc.
Conflicted...

Pretty much what I thought when I read about it. EvE makes everything possible after all. One day your jacking some moron's corp from under him, next day you yourself are on the receiving end of a shit sandwich. This kind of thing is inevitable. But it's better to have this and know when to stop then to have the boring, carefully controlled alternative.
I don't think it's mental health issue that has me annoyed, it's the fact that representative and liaison for the community, during a public event has called out for his fellow community members to harass a member of said community for that he or she would commit suicide.
Regardless of the consequences Mittens should receive I'm pretty irritated at the people who aren't taking his apology at face value and instead as some completely Machiavellian political move, even if I can understand it from people who have pretty much never encountered any facet of him outside of his in-game persona. But then in spite of countless people telling them that there's more to him than this and them dismissing those people as just brainwashed goons or compatriots in some vast political conspiracy...ugh. Not to say that it wasn't a completely horrible thing he said, I seriously considered whether I really wanted to be a part of this alliance when I saw that part of the presentation.
It's an ugly event and it's really going to suck if this results in the game getting worse due to a lack of a CSM representative (not necessarily chairman) such as Mitanni. If they do have to sack him/he resigns from the CSM entirely I hope CCP keeps in mind the interests of those who voted for him even on a council without him, since if this game somehow reverts to supercaps online/eve as it was a year ago I'm not going to keep playing it.

I pretty much agree with you.
Really, the only part I found disturbing about that panel was the whole suicide thing, had Mittani not encouraged the trolling/harassment, nothing would of stuck out. People losing their shit over this really need to step back and take a breath. It is only a video game, the goon's actions were sanctioned by the creators of the video game, scamming has been a key part of Eve for years. This person is mentally disturbed and from their actions (20+ accounts, discussing suicide with strangers, etc.) obviously needs some help. He is not really a victim so much as his own abuser in this scenario, and I truly hope that CCP takes the initiative to help this guy.
But yeah, Mittani getting off the CSM is a good move and really, his apology is about all he can do at this point. Other than that, it's a relatively non-issue that people are blowing way out of proportion.

The victim in question has actually been pretty cool about the whole thing. Turns out no one mailed him and he didn't even know about the whole affair until some random guy told him.
I just resubbed today. While I wait for my app to be accepted, I'm thinking about what to do with my 3 accounts. Pvp/incursions/anomaly ratting? maybe a carrier alt?

I saw one of these contrasting the Dominion trailer with the usual shit that happens in a fleet fight.
Crap, I actually forgot all about these. Shows how much attention I've been giving the game.
My point still stands on moon mining though. POS's are terrible when compared to PI's relative ease.
