Meh. I like the show. It's fun, funny, and a pleasant blast of optimism in an increasingly grimdark media landscape, while still keeping meaningful conflicts.

Yeah, when Applejack and Rarity got into a fight over muddly galoshes, that was super meaningful

I don't mean meaningful as in important, but rather that it's THERE with some prominence. It can be petty shit and still meaningful conflict.
But hey, whatever. I'm not looking to convert anyone, or step on toes. I just like the show and the fandom around it.
i asked tube privately if i could just make a new account and have the Pony account banned
and he was like "nope"
so
You can take solace that, to me at least, you have cultivated a persona which makes it impossible for me to conflate you with a television program aimed at young girls.
Thom, stay tuned. I'll pull out some other stuff later.
The hard part is that an overview of film theory is really difficult.
Like, Bazin is great and really cultivated auteurist theory, but at the same time could probably be at odds in basic principle with a theorist like Eisenstein.
I guess that's the thing about theory everywhere, it's hard to start with an overview. I'd say look into some theory books in genres and movements that interest you, and then move onto other theorists and movements that are referenced in those works.
Not only does it include a glossary of basic theoretical terminology, but it's also one of the only works that provides an overview broken down by genres and movements. You'll get a great overview of theorists and areas to explore.
If you had to pick up one book, I'd pick up that one.
So, some dude left a note on my car today that said "If you would like to sell your CAR, please call me @[phone number]. I pay CASH!!"
How legit is this dude likely to be? I anticipate he's not expecting much, given that my registration is from 2009, and it's a 1990 Honda Civic. Think the dude is looking for someone to murder?
You guys suck.
Answer my goddamn question!
He is going to murder you and tuck his dick in while wearing your skin

Gonna head down to the bike shop tomorrow, I think. Got a photo project in my head that's gonna need a lot more bikes than I have. Will have to negotiate a way to cheaply access several, or possibly their stockroom, for an hour or two.
There's also a music store nearby, or there was the last time I looked. Will check for its continued existence, and see if they've got any MIDI gear.

Sleepy Mods
I remember the first time my girlfriend saw me do a two thousand yard stare. She thought I was having some sort of stroke, she completely freaked out.
There is only one answer to this.
That's right, I said it.
Like ever.
I've yet to watch that show, but some of the fanart amuses me.
Because you have an injunction to prevent the dilution of your personal brand?
god if only i could be rid of this screen-name
i want nothing to do with that horrid madness
I know how tenuous the Pony thread is in SE++, so I'd refrain from mod teasing and pony macros in the same post, but that's just me :P
What's the most you ever lost on a coin toss?
flip a coin?
Yeah, when Applejack and Rarity got into a fight over muddly galoshes, that was super meaningful
tube's not even doing those right now
and even if it was, i do not trust the objectivity of his coin-toss
i think tube would not allow himself to pass up an opportunity to brand me with something truly stupid just to infuriate me
You question the neutrality of our most sovereign Councilor?
...actually, that's probably a good call.
Rule 34, basically.
no, I think deep down he prides himself on it being truly on the level
it would eat him up if he ever rigged it
but he doesn't show it
haha

and he was like "nope"
so
i'm going to bed
I won't lie, he probably took extra satisfaction in saying nope to you specifically
The only way to get away with that is to have the alt account's name be worse than your original account's name.
Did I just make Pony want to go to bed instead of deal with my presence?
...Huh. Okay, probably not. That's putting too much importance on me.

If you're looking for theory, look no further than:
http://www.amazon.com/What-Cinema-Vol-Andre-Bazin/dp/0520242270/ref=dp_ob_title_bk
It's pretty heavy, but Bazin knows what he's talking about always. It's one of my favorite theory pieces.
Added to my cart. I wish you had been around earler to tell me that when I was buying Sholay.

I would actually HIGHLY recommend this book:
