Also in celebration of hitting 50 I took the 30 plat I had left over after buying my mount and skills and tossed it into the guild bank to help get closer to that second vault thing
Who was it that wanted ice watch plaque things? Manny? I've got one of those if you want it
Also also what do I need to be Raid Ready™? I saw some jerks talking about focus or something but I don't know what numbers I need to shoot for
You can run some t1's if you want. But you can easily get over 100foc/hit right now with crafted and AH items. The sooner you get to running t2's the better. More plaques, and more chances for equivalent or better drops.
Also, at least in my experience, no one seems to queue for T1s. Presumably because as mentioned it's relatively easy to hit the T2 cap by crafting or hitting the AH. Normal and T2 queues pop at least sometimes. I haven't had a T1 queue pop since shortly after they added the LFG tool.
There are some freaking great builds here. Of note, melee and ranged raiding guides, melee and ranged levelling guides, and support guides. I think I'm gonna try some of these out (particularly the melee sab build) and report back.
Also, there's some excellent bard advice in there.
The little guild my friend and I are the main officers in has grown up
Finally have enough 50's for raids, and after like two hours of trying we downed Anrak. Turns out one of our chloros wasn't aoe healing the whole time like he was supposed to, and as soon as he switched, we got Anrak in one try.
I hear the second boss is actually easier, but there's a certain cleric spec for the running phase, and I'm not sure exactly what it is. I made a 42pur/15sent/5ward spec for it, just so I could get every purifier shield and as many instant heals as possible, but I feel like that might not be optimal
any clerics that've main healed the second boss in gp wanna chime in
I find that the running & orb phases are the easy parts of the fight, since Guurloth is channeling instead of attacking the tank. The only problem with the running phase is if you've got Friend of Guurloth or whirlwinds up at the same time. In which case, I think you've got the right idea - either instant direct heals and shields, or go heavy into Warden for lots of HoTs. Not much else you can do on the move.
This is my usual PvE build, if you're curious. Doctrine of Loyalty is generally enough to see everyone through the running phase, but you also have several other instants if need be.
It's definitely a less healing-intensive fight than Anrak, but it's also more likely to go all squirrelly because of the whirlwinds and bad synchronization during the jumping phase.

I want to run T1's just to see the new and upgraded encounters. They should make it more difficult to reach 100 hit for T2 though, so that people have a reason to run T1's.

yeah, do DRRs
every 3 lets you afford a new lesser essence and you might even win some loot doing them
So that means I would switch to dual weapons if I drew aggro and the mob closed range with me? Do I only get the stat bonuses from the weapon I'm actually using? Or do I get the stat bonuses from both my ranged and melee weapons at the same time?
A bit necro'd, but I did want to address this, since people seem to have some questions about weapons. So, here!
Weapons and you! For rogues, warriors, and dps clerics (HAHAHA AS IF):
To determine which weapon a skill is going to use, check this simple test out:
1. Does the skill require a melee weapon? If so, it uses your main hand weapon (or both, if it says so) to determine the damage for any skill that says "weapon plus", regardless of whether it's a ranged attack or not. So, rogue and warrior ranged attacks typically use your melee weapon as the base.
2. Does the skill require a ranged weapon? If so, it uses your ranged weapon to determine the damage. Duh.
3. Does the skill require ANY weapon? If so, who the hell knows. Honestly, there aren't many, and I think they either don't use weapon damage, or specify.
You get stat bonuses from everything you have equipped, regardless of what weapon the skill uses. Ranged weapons tend to be stat sticks for melee classes, and vice versa for ranged. So that sweet gun that adds +physical crit? Awesome even if you're not using it.
This part is important. ALL ATTACKS ARE NORMALIZED.
What the hell does that mean, Ender? Well, I'll explain.
When using a special attack, the game ignores weapon speed. The only value it pays attention to is DPS. Hence, using a special attack with a 50 dps dagger will do the same damage (approximately) as a 50 dps 2h axe. In this regard, weapon speed does not matter, and has no effect on your dps.
There's a caveat, however, and that is when weapon enchants come into play. Things like rogue poisons and other weapon enchants all use a % chance to proc per swing, instead of a proc per minute (ppm) system like WoW uses. Hence, a faster weapon will proc a weapon enchant more often than a slower weapon. So there is some merit to using a faster weapon over a slower one.
That being said, since you're swinging every 1.5 seconds regardless, it doesn't make that much of a difference. Bleeding edge guilds will tell you to use faster weapons though.
So, what's all this mean to you?
As a ranged spec, such as marksman, the DPS on your melee weapons is nowhere near as important as the stats. Upgrading one of your melee weapons to a higher DPS weapon with lower stats is not a good idea. Focus on the stats of your melee weapons rather than the DPS, since you won't be swinging with them.
Conversely, as a melee spec, the same can be said about your ranged weapon. Focus on stats, not on DPS.
Here's an interesting bit of info for you saboteur rogues - NONE of the saboteur attacks use your weapon's DPS. The only stats that affect sab charges are AP and crit. Hence, focusing on the stats of your weapons is more important than the DPS.
However, melee sab specs will want to pay some attention to their melee weapon DPS. I'm not entirely certain how much of their damage comes from white damage/bladedancer specials, so I can't say how much, but do be aware that your weapon DPS has no effect.
As a final note, here's a fun tip: right-clicking on a mob will start autoattack. This will also send your pet in to attack. If you are at ranged, it will start ranged autoattack. Once you run into melee, it will switch to melee autoattack. There is a delay in the switch, and you'll get the annoying "too close" error, but it'll change over pretty quickly once you start using melee attacks.
I think that covers it. If I missed anything, just ask.

Anyone interested in starting an alt or someone that is just starting the game? Im thinking about putting harrower to the side for a little bit to build up some class with Armor/Weapon/Mining.
The three souls I am most interested in:
Cabalist
Paladin
Bard.
Which makes for the funnest combinations?
Cookie Cutter necro lock: Necro until you get Soul Purge, rest in Lock. Zoomancer is a 38/28 necro lock spell with lich form, split personality, and empty the crypts being the focus.

If you plan to level a warrior as a tank Harrower try looking at this page.
Also Harrower: Bards are great fun, but not so much to level as that spec. In dungeons though they are a hoot (at least for me). But butts will never let you use the spec, so don't roll a rogue to be one.

So I won some nice gloves from a DRR and bought some runes and now I can do T2s you guys should do T2s with me
Also I'm going to sort out my roles later (3 unlocked so far): necro/lock for solo, chloro/lock/archon for healing, and I guess pyro/archon/ele for deeps?

These are mine right now. I'm trying out the zoomancer build to see how I like it, but I'll probably change it to Storm/Ele for AoE and DPS for dungeons.
28 Necro / 38 Lock for solo or for single target http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0zwv_.xtfzVzk0c.ecRNkVVx
Spell rotation:
Using Zealot pet
Life leech - Looming Demise - Necrosis - Dark Touch - Defile - Neddra's Grasp - Neddra's Torture - Void bolt spam to keep charge up, then repeat starting at Necrosis.
Alternating void bolt with Soul Purge, but stopping it early to make sure defile stays up. Defile becomes my bread and butter.
38 Necro / 28 Dom to test zoomancer and pvp http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0zws0.EtfzVukzs.RsiubkoMbz
Spell Rotation:
Looming Demise - Necrosis - Spamming Plague bolt and refreshing necrosis till max charge then using all my cooldowns (Exhume, Empty the Crypts, Split Personality, Lich Form) - Necrosis again so that the pets attack the target then casting misc debuffs on the target. If charge is above >60% and neither of my cooldowns are up again, then I do a charge dump with either reflecting or arresting presence.
and 34 Archon / 32 Chloromancer / 0 Warlock for support. I try not to main heal as I'm not that comfortable with it yet, but I heal the rest of the team so the main healer can focus on the tank. But mostly just keeping those buffs up. http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0zzRv.hRssRdiokRz.tdhukhskMR
From what I have read, Storm/Ele is our best AoE DPS, while Pyro/whatever is our best Single Target but loses a lot of maneuverability and survivability compared to necro/lock. I'm probably going to do Storm/Ele for AoE as my 4th slot to be my main form of DPS for rifts and dungeons.
I already know what the spell rotation would be:
Raging Storm - ice shear - lightning strike - lightning field (5x) - Forked Lightning - static flux then repeating starting at ice shear.
OR
Burning Ground - Hailstorm - Lightning Storm - then the same as top starting at ice shear
druid/shaman/justi never ever dies and has great killing power
Is this viable at lower levels (around 20)? What does the build look like? I've been wanting to experiment with a melee cleric, but the talents don't seem to synergize quite as well as caster clerics' talents do. I'm probably just being a nub.

I mean, I only ever die if I screw up and pull too many mobs, but the fact that you're only really pushing 2 buttons over and over gets old pretty quickly.
Bard(8)/Nightblade(13)/Ranger(0) - You get group heals from Cadence, an increase in damage(and heals) from the Nightblade talents, and a tanking pet from Ranger.
Basically, you will be hitting Cadence twice, then Coda of Wrath, while refreshing your two Motifs every 30 seconds. For several levels.
