So I ran RoS for the first time last night and it was great. Though I wish we hadn't bugged Plutonis, I would have liked to see his mechanics and what not.

okay so I didn't even realize that it was a PvP shard

so, some background: I was (and am) attracted to Rift because it was a PvE optimized game. I'm playing SWTOR now and the bias towards PvP is palpable and influences every aspect of PvE, so much that my good buddies would rather PvP and get high-end gear rapidly than play PvE and grind through the hardmodes slowly.

tl;dr: i'm a giant carebear

That shouldn't matter much really, most of us in the guild seem more interested in PvE then PvP and there doesn't seem to be alot of open world PvP. Also, its my understanding that we may be moving servers again before too long.

Well if they move servers it's because the general PvE population on Deepstrike sucks. They are just bad at raiding, and on Dayblind, most GSB/RoS (and some Hammerknell) raids were Pug'd. I was in a fail RoS that couldn't get past Herald and still had issues with Warmaster.

You can switch servers for free, once a week.

FYI TEC is more than likely moving servers again, in a week or so, to a server that might actually have people who know how to pve instead of a server full of people who think 40 people rolling over 2 guys in the jungle is pvp

Nah it was more like the PA guild on the pvp server merged with another guild because we were so small and then trion made everybody transfer to a new pvp server and it turns out the new server is SHIT

So I was a big fan of PvE, tanked the whole way up to 50, but I had no real support network. I started in on T1 content (toughness was adequate) and hit a wall immediately, got frustrated, and did something else. I remember precisely how it felt; I went from rolling over the dudes in a 50 regular (Charmer's Caldera) to just having the floor wiped with me if I pushed too hard (tried to do the one at the top of the waterfall).

Anyway so that means I'll need to build experience / gear before plunging into the loving tentacles of T2, 10 mans, or anything further.

If you have anything close to 150 hit we can put you over the edge with runes and shit, and then carry you through raids on Fridays, wherein we do Greenscale's Blight (20 man) or River Of Souls (20 man). Just make sure you have a bit of cash on you to bid for stuff (not a problem, people will often just GIVE you money to bid on stuff because it makes them and you happy)

Basically, make a decent DPS spec (ask around, but generally two-handed champions are the way to go) and just be ready around 6 server-time on Fridays, or just in general be around on the weekends. Shit happens aaaaaaaaaaaaall weekend.

but the amount of "fuck you got mine" felt pretty high tonight, which is to say nothing of the fact there was a spur of the moment attempt to do HK tonight (ie kill all our farm bosses on an unscheduled night)

I dunno I rode the wave of entitlement to 9 more marks while fandy got banished to the second rotp group that included kezza and possibly a pug

nope

they are ideal tanks, actually, in some situations

every tank class is good right now

cleric tanks aren't bad and haven't been since they fixed the aggro on DoL

warriors are just better in every way

t1 raids are all warrior/rogue, HK/ROTP is warrior/cleric

rogues don't really do much in the way of tanking after ROS
