So I never signed up for the club, figured I should finally do it. Had a couple questions.
1.) What all has codes? And where are the codes found?
2.) Do codes expire? Will games I got years ago like Twilight Princess, Smash Bros, Mario Galaxy, etc. have valid codes?
1.) All new Nintendo-published games have codes via a piece of paper in the disk case. You can also register your consoles, and some Virtual Console/3DS downloadable stuff give them too.
2.) Nope. If you've still got the piece of paper with the codes on it, you can still register them.
So I'm guessing it would be best to not register any of my games immediately, and instead to the "intend to buy" thing for all of them first? Or is there a system in place to keep me from cheating like that?
You can only "intend to buy" games that are coming out in the next month or two. May as well register everything you already own.
Edit: Actually, only register 800 coins worth of stuff. That way you can get next year's platinum reward, and have some coins to put toward platinum the year after that.
Yeah, it's absolutely okay. But holding some codes in reserve so you can apply them toward the next year simply makes it easier to hit platinum next year.
And you do want to hit platinum each year, if possible... doing so gives you a nifty free gift with zero cost (coins or actual money). Last year it was a Mario statue, this year it's a surprisingly nifty SMB button collection.
I thought you could register Gamecube games. When I joined (2 years ago) I'm pretty sure I did and got coins from them. As I recall I could even register my N64 though I didn't get anything from that.
There I was, 3DS: 2621-2671-9899 (Ekera), Wii U: LostCrescendo
Some GCN games were worth coins, but only the very end of them. When the program started it was oh register this game and others like it, get free nintendo power for 3 months or Zelda Collector's Edition.

#2 is not true. Depending on the game, they will not award coins if you register it too far after release. Some games (ex: Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros., etc) last for a really long time - pretty much any really big 1st party title like that. Lesser games do expire (my example, I tried to register Mario vs. DK 2 about a year after it came out and got no coins)
when I did my big registering stint a few years ago they all counted for coins.

Got the new zelda posters ordered for me and thepain73 when the site was up for a bit earlier. I really like how they look. Just don't know where we will find room since we already have all 3 of the old zelda posters and two of the mario ones up already. At least they made the new zelda ones all standard size, unlike the timeline one which is awesome but cost a bit to get framed since it's an odd size and we couldn't just buy a cheap frame.

I ended up getting a frame that was just a bit smaller and cut a tiny bit off the sides (which was just that empty parchment background). Not the best solution but cheaper than a custom frame :P

That's not too bad an idea at all actually. The custom frame was a bit pricy but so worth it for how awesome it looks. We need to do something with the mario timeline poster sometime, hate that they made that one an odd size too.

Yeah, if I'm remembering right I found a frame that was the same height (or perhaps slightly bigger) and about an inch smaller width. I'm totally blanking on what the size was now though.
Woo just got my platinum reward badge set in the mail, 3 days before I fly off back to england. I was worried it wouldn't arrive in time and I'd lose it forever.
Of course I still have 600 unspent coins going to waste

Ugg, common Nintendo! I wanna order those posters! :P I wish they'd hurry up and bring the site back up...
Some games do expire in like 2014 or something. It popped up somewhere for me. And Super Princess Peach didn't give me coins, though games from the same year still did. Older games are a bit of a crapshoot.
I cannot find my PIN for the 3DS. I got the Zelda bundle, and while OOT registered no problem, I feel I may be out a good 160 coins.
You just bought the thing, so if the pin isn't in the box give nintendo a quick email and they'll set you straight. My DSi XL box didn't have one or it got tossed and they hooked me up.
I just did some years old post play surveys to try and get some VC games, when I saw the new T-Shirt.
Holy shit WANT.
I just cashed in 600 points on the DS cartridge case and stylus and am kicking myself. Hopefully I can get 550 out of the stuff Ive never registered (which IS a pretty big amount).

Are 3DS carts the same size as DS ones? Considering getting the game/stylus case.
I'd like the t-shirt a whole lot more if they hadn't written the names of all the characters on it.
Same size, but there's a little nub that sticks out the side near the top to keep it from going into a DS. They fit fine in my DS game case, but because of the nub I have to put the right-most game in upside down so the nub faces away from the side of the case. Depending on how tight the game case is, your results my vary.
So... I'm not sure this is quite the right thread to ask in, but here goes.
My Wii has been dying . It is a launch wii, and it just won't get past the very first "Press A to continue button." In fact, it shows that screen, but it just won't show that message. I hit A anyway, and my remote lights up as if it were connected, but nothing else happens.
Does anyone know a good fix for this? Or how reliable is sending it in to be fixed?
I don't know what you mean by showing the screen and not showing the message.
Sounds proper fucked anyway so I doubt a home fix exists.
How could you doubt sending it to be fixed would be reliable though? It'll cost you but they'll either fix it or transfer your shiz over to a new/refurb without a doubt. The only question will be whether the cost is one you want to pay.
A quick google suggests they may charge as much as $90 but you'll have to phone to find out.

That's the same thing that happened to mine. You'll have to send it to Nintendo, unless you've installed some hax (BootMii) that would let you try to reinstall the System Menu yourself.

I have the blue game case (the 600 point one) if thats what you're asking. Its really nice, and the games are actually in foam cut outs, so it would have no problem holding 3DS games with the nub.
