If they ever do a Majora's Mask remake/re-release they gotta fix the save game situation. Owl statues as they were used sucked, and playing the song of time to save your game for real sucked. They have to let you save whenever you want, especially if they would ever release it on a handheld like OoT.
The worst part is that the game wasn't 100% bug free (I think the memory card made them push the system a little harder than they probably should have). I've lost a shitload of progress before due to hard lockups. The Gamecube version is especially not emulated well and tends to break easily (actual cart is probably more stable, but I swear I've had that lock up on me before too).
Yeah, the GameCube version sucked all around. Wii version was solid.

Yeah, I have the Zelda Collector's Edition for Gamecube and it froze on me right after I completed Stone Tower Temple. You basically have to finish a dungeon in one sitting. If you want to take a break or play another video game your options are to:
Backtrack/warp out the dungeon and find the nearest owl statue to save your progress (at least there was one owl statue near the general area of each dungeon entrance)
Or:
You have to bite the bullet and play the song of time to save forcing the dungeon to be reset if you don't have time to run to an owl statue.
At the very least they can change the owl statues so that your statue saves are like true restore points that you can load any time, not temporary suspend points that are deleted once you load them.
For those thinking of trying Majora's Mask I have an alternative. Punch your self in the dick as hard as you can like a hundred times. This will be more fun. A lot more fun than Majora's Mask could ever be. One of three proper Zelda titles I actually hate.

How far you get sent back depends on how much progress you made in the dungeon. If you managed to obtain the main item/weapon, but failed to finish the level in time, you still have the item on your next try and you can skip major sections that were only required for you to get that item.
I wouldn't be opposed to a new version allowing players to do an "owl save" anywhere, but allowing true saves without resetting to the first day would break the structure of the game.

Yeah... what??? Majora is super fun. As far as story, it's easily the most unique and interesting. The gameplay is similar to Ocarina with a more interesting sidequest setup. Plus various quality of life improvements (speedy bunny mask, bank to avoid wasting rupees, etc). And let me say, I hate timed gameplay as well. But there's a huge difference between "too many mistakes means you cannot win" and "you can repeat this as many times as you like, you DO need to beat it within like... 6 hours real time in one go though."
Edit: Suspend saves anywhere would be great for a handheld version.

How far did you get? It's not my favorite Zelda, but I think it's awesome.
I really hated the first three days before I finally went through the whole thing after getting the collector's disc in late 2003. Now I love it and can't wait for next years MM 3D or HD.

I got fairly far. I have tried many times over the years to complete the game by going back to the same sad gold cartridge. I beat the 4th dungeon the last time I think. I just haven't been able to bring myself to go back to it since then. The deku mask set it on a bad footing with me and never could find the fun afterwards.

Fair enough. Not every game is for everyone. I disliked Chrono Trigger and got to after Frog's Battle with Magus.
BTW, the 4th dungeon in Majora is my favorite dungeon ever.
I remember Majora having allot of craziness with the Goron roll ability. The snow temple and one of the deity levels were totally centered around that game mechanic.
Majora's Mask is the second best game ever created.
The fact we don't have a 3DS version announced after OoT 3DS sold gangbusters is a crime of epic proportions.
Removing suspend saves would break the point of the iterative day progression but they would definitely have to add the ability to save anywhere as concession to it being on a mobile device.
I would also accept an argument for freezing time progression in dungeons because being under pressure to finish them quickly adds little but potential frustration.
I had an epic turning in of the third dungeon fairies with seconds left on the clock that felt awesome at the time, but not awesome enough to counter the near miss of controller smashing frustration that would have occurred had I failed to beat the clock.
I eagerly await Majora getting a nice face lift. They were already pushing the N64 to the limit with that one. The are probably working on it right now.

I doubt that, the Zelda team(s) got their hands full since they're working on three games at the moment. Like I said, next year maybe.

Grezzo is crazy nuts with that Flower Game on Mii Plaza.
"LOOK AT MY FLOWERS! WATER MY PLANTS! IMPREGNATE MY SEEDS!!"
Seriously, that game is scary in-depth for a $5 streetpass title.

The best thing about Flower Town is that it's run by Mr. Mendel. It's probably the one I'll spend the most time with, though I also like the haunted house game.

I'd like some updated Mii features like Mr Mendel's nose. His face looks so much better because it doesn't have a big black line running through it.

majoras mask owns and is fine if you just remember to use the slow time song.
I haven't played it but my friend did as I watched/read guides as necessary as part of playing through every Zelda game.
IIRC he used to really like MM but upon playing it again he was soured on it. I didn't get a very positive impression from it either.
More than once we had to leave a dungeon in the middle of it to go save and rewind time just because of the stupid time thing. There was no functional reason for it, in any other Zelda game we would've just kept playing until we finished it.
There was a lot of stuff like that. "Oh, this is a sidequest but we really don't have time to do it right now...this one too..."
I'm not entirely sure I want yet another poster set despite the Pikmin goodness. How is that Samurai game on the 3DS?
Sakura Samurai is fantastic. It's got a very, very small amount of content (less than even its short length can really sustain), but it's a great game.
Don't redeem your Platinum status for it though. I have a code for Sakura Samurai that I got as my Gold reward that you can have if you want.

Thanks for the offer - that would be great if you really don't have another use for it. Maybe I'll just end up doing the poster set - I just wish the soundtrack was to a game I've actually played.
I've got an extra Club Nintendo card for Fire Emblem (I bought it myself and then for my brother once I realized I would never lend it to him to play) if anyone bought SMTIV and doesn't have Fire Emblem Awakening. I mean you really should buy Fire Emblem (it's fantastic), but I figure someone getting $30 is better then a few extra coins (I don't think I'm allowed to register the same game twice anyways).
I have an extra club nintendo code for the Kirby Dream collection (40 points). If anyone has extra codes for other games and wants to trade let me know.

Could always just ebay the posters. Just keep the tube they come in to ship them out. One auction for the posters plus the cards from last year is going for $37.

Just a game of annoyances, maybe in retrospect.
Sakura Samurai is a lot of fun. It's all about reading tells and knowing when to dodge (and which way!) and when to strike.

Yeah the Mario one looks new, but I know the Peach/Yoshi one was one of the various options.
