Either way, I had fun today as a fed Yorick (laned with a Taric bot) but these changes will make a HUGE difference.
I'd compare him almost to Garen or something with that 20% damage reduction passive.

Yorick should be substantially better with this patch.
1 - Slightly better stats all around. Combined with the lowered mana cost on two of his abilities, he should be much less mana-starved in the early game.
2 - His completely useless passive (tiny improvement to auto-attacks) has been changed into a useful passive (up to 20% damage resistance). And with the extra 5% Health & AD to ghouls, he'll be dealing more damage than he ever did with the old passive as well.
3 - His best regular ability, Omen of Pestilence, has gotten several nice boosts - increased range, lowered mana cost, improved radius, and improved consistency.
4 - Ghouls are more powerful. Not drastically so, but slow immunity and AOE protection should both be big helps with the slightly better AD & Health scaling.
5 - No health decay on his ultimate is huge.
I agree with 1 3 and 5. 2 is irrelevant , his ghouls will still die instantly and still have heath decay. You will never have the bonus for any significant time past laning phase. For the same reasons I doubt 4 will amount to much at all. Ive never had trouble with people using slows on my ghouls , I had trouble with people fucking killing them. I could be wrong , I want to be wrong but I doubt it.
Edit - Also he still has the bonus AD and magic damage scaling , so good luck itemizing for that.

That would make sense but the player gets control when they're reanimated still right?

Yes its his ult and the pet when/if the player is revived. I imagine you still die after a set amount of time but you are more useful during that period. QWE still decay as usual.

Thank the Chaosx guide and priest , I don't know the first thing about Irelia . I prefer Trundle and Renekton for my tanky DPS. I'm glad you are having fun though , its kinda hard to do that in this game sometimes. This reminds me I haven't played jungle trundle in awhile. I should totally do that.

Ryze might actually be good again with this change. His early game was really holding him back.
Rumble will still be crazy OP. You're doing the same base damage by level 5 and higher damage at level 7+. You won't be able to be as aggressive at level 2-3, but you already couldn't do that against a lot of opponents due to creep damage. In teamfights he's more about his ult then his Q, so the ratio nerf probably won't hurt that much.
WW nerf doesn't seem significant enough, but maybe it works out better in-game.
The Jarvan nerfs were (once again) probably justified. I don't know why they keep nerfing Irelia.

While there are bad picks when it comes to team comp, I don't think there are bad champs (yorick aside). I've seen plenty of people pick FOTM champs like alistar and gangplank and do terribly. In one such game, post-nerf evelynn was kicking ass after being bitched at by the gang/alistar.

Yes! I've been wanting this for a long time. It's not a huge deal, but it's kind of the same thing they did with Poppy's charge and it's definitely helpful.
I'm just a bit disappointed that they didn't release the rumored Shen buffs. I don't necessarily think he's underpowered or anything, but I do think they went a bit too crazy with his nerfs.
They basically buffed her Bladesurge. Bladesurge is most valuable during laning and mid game, and it's often leveled last, so reducing the mana cost only helps Irelia out (unless they got rid of the 50% mana reduction on kill, but they didn't say that, and I have yet to test it.)
The only time it will noticeably hurt her is late game, and 10 mana. Woooo. 10 mana on Bladesurge late game. I palpably don't give a shit.
They've just been nerfing the piss out of Transcendent Blades over and over and over to combat a different problem though. Ultimately, they're pissed about her health regen, and keep hammering at her ult to reduce that. If that's what they're pissed at, then go after that, but leave her ult alone.
Her level 1 Ult is now looking very, very lackluster all things considered. It took a 60 damage hit at max level which, while not that significant, will change things for her.
The problem with her R isn't the damage it does, it's how it does the damage. Unlike Ezreal's Ult, Irelia's does full damage to every unit it passes through. During team fights, this can be devastating. That's the true power of Transcendent blades. That you can just walk up to three people and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot them with 1620 Damage. Now you'll still do 1460.
Whatever, they are what they are. I just don't think they're going to get the desired results they want out of this, it's going to end up buffing Irelia's early game, which is pretty strong, and they'll have to enact the appropriate nerf in the future, which will ultimately make her useless, because of all the other nerfs that completely missed the mark.
If you want to change Irelia, fiddle with the cooldown on her Q, or the True Damage / length of her W buff. The only viable change to her ultimate is upping it's cooldown. I could accept that, 40s with CDR is pretty insane.
Also, I'd like to add that people like Irelia, Tryndamere, Jax, Pantheon, among other Tanky DPS have to be strong fighters. They will never be picked competitively if they aren't strong fighters. This is why we didn't see many Irelias (or much TDPS beyond a couple Xin's and an Irelia). TDPS typically brings no CC to the table. You have to reward a team that drops CC by making them effective Nukers. And being that the current meta is full 5 man stun/slow/root comps, this is even more so the case.
Argh. I suppose I'm just cranky that they're changing my favorite champion. Get off my lawn.

I haven't picked irelia in a long time and they keep making me not want to. Xin was just too strong a replacement in my roster
I was just playing a solo queue game as Alistar, trying him out for the first time. The rest of my team was Veigar, Ashe, Twisted Fate, and Caitlyn. Ashe requested solo mid right off the bat, so I went with Veigar to top, and TF and Caitlyn went bottom.
Veigar and I had TF and Kayle to contend with up top, which was a lot of harass for me. Veigar did a pretty good job of stunning, but they managed to kill me while I was still getting used to Alistar's abilities. Things completely broke down, however, around level 10. Everyone else started dying and the other team went into gank mode, and none of my team could really keep up.
Was the main problem that I was the only tank? Ashe kept complaining and only had 1 kill (by the time we surrendered), so I'm thinking they had something to do with it too.
Alistar is a different tank. His job is kindof to keep your team alive longer, punt out their high DPS'er, or punt them out of position into easy kill territory, stun everyone when surrounded, and do that invincible thing after disrupting and causing chaos.
just kindof wish that he could move a bit faster.
Blitz/Amumu are the same types of tanks, close distance, disable, steroid. (bait with blitz as well)
And the good Dr. Mundo is in a class by himself. Nothing too damaging by itself, but with proper outfitting, the man does not die. He runs to the back, takes a 10 s break, and comes back with full health, and again, with proper outfitting, just having Mundo stand in the middle of a group of enemies is deadly.
His biggest drawback, no CC, bad initiation.
And can someone tell me how to Trynd? Is it mostly learn to farm with his Q?
