I was just playing a solo queue game as Alistar, trying him out for the first time. The rest of my team was Veigar, Ashe, Twisted Fate, and Caitlyn. Ashe requested solo mid right off the bat, so I went with Veigar to top, and TF and Caitlyn went bottom.
Veigar and I had TF and Kayle to contend with up top, which was a lot of harass for me. Veigar did a pretty good job of stunning, but they managed to kill me while I was still getting used to Alistar's abilities. Things completely broke down, however, around level 10. Everyone else started dying and the other team went into gank mode, and none of my team could really keep up.
Was the main problem that I was the only tank? Ashe kept complaining and only had 1 kill (by the time we surrendered), so I'm thinking they had something to do with it too.
Alistar is a different tank. His job is kindof to keep your team alive longer, punt out their high DPS'er, or punt them out of position into easy kill territory, stun everyone when surrounded, and do that invincible thing after disrupting and causing chaos.
just kindof wish that he could move a bit faster.
Blitz/Amumu are the same types of tanks, close distance, disable, steroid. (bait with blitz as well)
And the good Dr. Mundo is in a class by himself. Nothing too damaging by itself, but with proper outfitting, the man does not die. He runs to the back, takes a 10 s break, and comes back with full health, and again, with proper outfitting, just having Mundo stand in the middle of a group of enemies is deadly.
His biggest drawback, no CC, bad initiation.
And can someone tell me how to Trynd? Is it mostly learn to farm with his Q?
honestly I consider mundo bulky dps and not a tank like those guys because of the fact that he has no initiation or CC short of cleaver slow

The problem is that the nerf really misses the mark, and will only end up compounding the problem when they do appropriately nerf her.
She can't be a true tank ever because she doesn't have the appropriate kit for it. No hard CC, no taunt, no AoE (other than the give range on her Ult), no support. As a tank, all that she'd have going for her is high health / regen, and low CCability. That isn't enough to make people want to target her though, and she isn't the best of initiators.
As a result, since she can't be a pure tank, nerfing her damage into oblivion isn't the correct choice. Leave her as an assassin, but remove portions of her survivability / sustain. I think she'd still be fine if they completely gutted the heal on her R. Her Q allows her to blink way, way too often. Slap a CD on that, if only a 1.5 second CD.
It's kind of like trying to Nerf Rumble, but deciding that the best place to nerf him is to reduce his shield. Meanwhile, everyone in the community is thinking "You Assholes. The shield is not the problem. It's that Rumble can combo too much too often."
Ultimately, what's at issues is that she does Nocturne levels of Damage, but can kite like Singed and have the best health regen in the game. She can't be a tank with her kit, so either take away the kiting, or take away the sustain.
It's moot at this point anyway though. She might receive a few more balance changes, but she's far, far away from OP status anymore (Despite what Guinsoo might say). The only people that really die to Irelia are people who don't understand she can't be CC'd well. They try to get in her face and just get demolished because they don't have the damage and can't out-sustain her. Good mages put her in her place though.

Kind of disappointed in Leona. Still time for things to change obviously, but it looks like shes going to need max cdr since her abilities are 12, 15, and 12 respectively. I'm thinking philo, hog, ionia's treads, glacial shroud, negatron, giants belt then finish up with frozen heart, fon, and rylais in whatever order makes the most sense for that game. Convert the philo into elisia's, and then i dunno, a randuins if you need more armor, abyssal if you need more mr. This is all kinds of expensive though. Possibly a revolver early on. It's also possible that with enough cdr (and a high enough bonus) her w might supply sufficient defensesive bonuses where you only need to build some light defenses to be tanky enough and can just go hog wild with ap.
I don't even get what to do with her to be honest. Nothing she does screams jungler. Her passive makes it seem like she'd be best in a duo lane, and in the current NA meta that works, but in EU meta (which is gaining popularity here) where you send support and your ad carry bot, it isn't going to fly. She doesn't strike me as a very good solo top option either since nothing she does really lends itself to sustainability, unlike other popular tank options like shen, gragas, cho, alistair and malph (ww, morde and irelia as well if you feel like lumping them in with the tanks).
Kind of a long-winded way of saying that I am not longer that excited about her and will probably wait for her free week before purchase, unless I see some impressive stuff from teammates/enemies.

The passive change is a good start. Pretty much a minimum of 5% damage resist will definitely urge people to Warmog him up. Still though, his Minions only inherit 35% of health. Personally I think this number is bugged. Even at 30%, I had little issue two shotting his minions.
I think he'd be better if they just did away with health decay entirely. Minions exist for X amount of time unless killed. (And perhaps extend that time by 1 or 2 seconds). Hell, maybe even extend that minion uptime by 3-10 seconds, but cap the number of minions he can have out at once to two or something. Or make summoning a second minion kill the 1st minion within 2 seconds, so he can only double buff for a short amount of time.
Just random ideas. I really don't give a fuck about Yorick, but I hate seeing teammates pick him right now because it's just feed feed feed and I'd rather play 4v5 without the useless zombie in bottom lane.

Ali took a bit of a beating with the nerf stick, especially his heal. arg, i may actually have to build tanky items on him now.
doesn't change too much though. still there for the popups and headbutts into danger. heal base is still good, although going AP Ali isn't going to be as much fun. Warmog's, Abyssal and Atmas?
