Banshee's veil, Morgana's shield, Stuns and silences can stop WW's ultimate. Depending on the champions you are fighting against, there could be more spells/abilities that stop the channeling of WW's ult.

As well as quick silver sash and alistair's ult, correct?

QSS does, Alistar's ult doesn't break suppression effects, but will remove everything else.

Gangplank's heal (W) does remove suppression effects however.

So I'm finally back up to level 25ish on my new account. Ditched my old one at 26, only bought 1 champ on it (Tristana, before I knew she was free... doh!). I decided I wanted a clean plate without a 25% win Ratio while learning the game.

The Tier3 runes really, really, really make a difference. Like "Ah my god I can't believe I can get away with some of this shit" difference.

Otherwise, now that I'm back up to 25 and starting to get grouped with 30's more, I find myself in the weirdest matchups ever.

Just got done literally pubcrushing a game as Irelia to the tune of 19/5/21, then, decide to look at who I'm matched up against after the game. Naturally, I think, "Wow, must have been some mighty low level people there."

But no. All 30's. I'm the only one beneath 30. I think the only reason I was grouped with them, is that not a single one of them had less than 25 leaves. Three of them had over 40. (And Jax, with 92 leaves, unsurprisingly, left.) I was astonished. I suddenly felt proud to only have 1 leave in 300 games.

One would think that once people get up to level 30, you could expect a certain level of skill. That would be wrong. I had a game tonight where my team all were level 30 with 250+ wins as an average, one guy with over a 1000 wins, and yet they were doing stuff that level 10 people should know better than to do.

How do you fight him if you're not a tank? I was Tristana and the only way I could get away from him was by firing her canon ball and running like hell.

Master Yi shits out damage if not controlled. Your options are to A) shit out damage even faster than him or B) stun/control him somehow and then murder him.

If you're a Tristana and you haven't farmed as many items as he has, then leaving may just be the way to 1v1 him.

It's worth noting though that Yi is one of those champions who's going to be doing a lot better in a 3v5 than a 5v5, so I wouldn't really treat that as super-indicative of the character.
I can vouch for this; once won a 3v5 as Master Yi because I had an awesome Rammus spearheading our teamfights with a plucky Lux to back us up.

It was bad before, but it's just been unreal for the last couple weeks.

    So it's not just me?

I just assumed I'd hit a rough patch of variance with matchmaking, and just kept getting stuck with some awful people:
    eWHV7T_YXjTnVmlVcXSA.jpg

A week ago I was thrilled I'd hit +300, and I have literally only won 20% of my games since. I seem to have a leaver or rager in every single match for the past 4 or 5 days.

I've also started recognizing the names of my opponents or team members, which used to be very rare. I wonder if the matchmaking pool somehow got futzed up and I got the short end of the stick on said pool.

Dunno. All I know is it's been a frustrating few days.

Still holding out hope that it's just variance and will soon pass.

I open LoL and do other shit instead of solo queing. If I don't get invited to a game, I don't play, I couldn't even fathom doing more than one solo queue a week.

Wait until at least post 10.

1-10 is like the kiddie pool, you can learn some basic stuff, and you shouldnt find yourself in over your head very often.

There is also a number of new players that you can try to group with that are sub 30.

After 30 I had to wait until 200 wins or so before I could group with PA'ers without getting crushed. I grouped with them before that, but skill differential was just too great.

Ugh, this game can be too damn fickle. I was absolutely dominating as Urgot until about 35 minutes in, when all of a sudden I just couldn't kill this damn singed and was getting focused first in every fight. We had all inhibs down and every turret but one nexus turret and just couldn't finish it out, it was ridiculous.

I hate overly defensive players. They are the bane to winning games.

I just played a game where our Garen, who was by far the tankiest and toughest member of our team, refused to initiate, would run early, and would basically sit there running back and forth when we outnumbered the enemy running around in our base, and he says it was because we had a leaver.

I mean, I'm a bit too aggressive, I'll admit it, but it would be nice if Warwick didn't have to engage because our Garen is too much of a coward to. They came back to our base with their whole team, Garen wasn't doing anything and the rest of the team followed suit, so I tried to engage Lux with my ulti, did a little damage, died almost instantly, so the rest of the team gets dragged into the fight, I have done almost no damage, since we had an early leaver it's 3v5. And they won. Barely, but they won, with Vlad left for us and Blitz for them, and Vlad drove blitz off.

Then, later, when they're destroying one of our inhibitor towers, Garen FINALLY goes out alone, and after getting wailed on by the entire enemy team for like 10+ seconds, alone, spins his way out and heals with a quarter of his health left.

    AAAARGGHHHHH.

    Another ranked adventure.

I'm captain, make with the bans, and seeing as no one is up front about jungling, I go Udyr first pick. Our next two pick Blitz and Taric. Alright cool, last two will pick ranged carries, right? I say in chat PICK RANGED AP/AD OK? and they say ok. First guy picks Xin and the other picks Poppy.

    ...

I reason in my head "as long as no one feeds, we have enough CC to chase people down!" What happens? Xin doesn't take middle or top, duos with Poppy and they both feed like crazy. Meanwhile the rest of us try our hardest to stop the other team (Ashe, Karma, Annie, Nasus, Renekton) but it's a losing battle. I keep isolating one of their carries but by the time I kill them, our team has already gotten wiped out.

Warwick is much better initiation than Garen, and should definitely be building tankier than Garen. You can walk away from Garen, but you can't walk away from a Warwick as easily (though you can CC him out of his ult, but it gives your team a chance to move)

I could get the initiate part (though again my team should follow me unto the breach) but tankier than Garen? I've seen a lot of guides for Warwick, mostly to jungle since Warwick is my first jungle champ, but none of the builds seem to imply having as much health as garen. Unless you mean like with his life still which makes sense, though I find it can be hard when there are a lot of stuns/smashes being thrown around, especially when my team isn't there to back me up.
