A flamethrower with half range whose flames drop to the ground and burn on the floor for a half-minute. Anyone standing in the flames takes damage as if they were standing in flamethrower discharge, and are repeatedly set on fire.
If a friendly Sniper dips his Huntsman into a patch of burning ground, the arrow lights on fire as if a Pyro puffed his flamethrower at the weapon.
And thanks Valve, I now have two Strange Pain Trains. I'd like my $5 back.
My Pain Train is at 200 kills.
I have learned to love that thing.
I got my shotgun to 200 kills earlier.
I never really gave gunslinger engineer a chance, and I gotta say it's a ton of fun when you play a balls-out offensive engineer. I just wish my sentry would stop stealing my kills, because I gotta level my shotgun!
The Department of Bad Ideas has beaten you to market with both of your ideas, Enlong.

I mean, I know they're gimmicky ideas, but I guess I just wanted to see what people thought, maybe incite some discussion about them. I wasn't expecting such... pithiness.
So, I just had an insane idea for a Revolver unlock for the Spy.
The Pistolet Rasa.
It's a revolver that deals absolutely no damage. However, when you fire the harmless, invisible bullets, you don't lose your disguise. Instead, it appears as if your disguise fires whatever weapon it has equipped.
That includes melee weapons and stuff like the Flamethrower (hold the fire button to appear to continuously flame).
So you could either fire periodically to complete your disguise, or be especially cruel by stabbing someone right after you "spycheck" them.
That would be really powerful. I don't think dealing zero damage would be nearly enough drawback for this sort of thing.

Well, that's some contrast right there.
Someone on a different forum suggested a distinctive but subtle "wooden" (as I described the gun as a pistol that appears to be made of either wood or stone) sound each time you fire it. Quiet, but not inaudible, so you can recognize it if you're listening closely instead of just watching.
Well, you have to unbox these because they're "strange," so you won't get them on the drop. Why can't I just buy the Strange Direct Hit? Why must I play Valve's version of roulette and "hope" to get it?
I have a strange direct hit I'll trade if you can find a strange shotgun.

Oh, no, you misunderstand. I'm the Department of Bad Ideas. I think if you do a search on that phrase in the boards you'll find dozens of my weird ideas. "A gun that fires a fake version of the weapon the Spy is spoofing" I posted under the name "Despised", and I'm pretty sure I had the same idea of a flamethrower that sticks a burning patch on the ground, too.
Which is a good thing! It means you have a creative mind! Continue to post your thoughts. (It beats people complaining about the maps.)

Oh! OK then! That was pretty much the exact opposite of what I thought was going on. Much better to know that we're thinking alike, instead of being opposed.
I'll need to look up some of your ideas.
In case anyone cares "Pistolet Rasa" is a play on "Tabula Rasa". Except instead of a blank slate, it's a blank gun.
In this case, I think I'll give another idea I had.
A flare gun variant whose shell doesn't set people on fire, but instead clatters to the ground and emits a slowly-damaging noxious cloud for about a half-minute. If anything hot or flaming (flare gun or detonator shells, flamethrower discharge, burning arrows, burning PEOPLE) enter the cloud, it explodes, dealing heavy damage to all within and around the cloud, and setting them on fire.

It might be interesting to give the engineer additional dispenser options too, like slightly overhealing or temporarily giving users minicrits or some other on-hit property. I'm not quite sure how to balance something like that though. Perhaps no or weaker sentry gun for enhanced dispenser or something.
I'd like a Gunslinger variant that ditches the extra HP for increased haul speed.
Call it the Gear Mover or something.
Also I thought up of a pistol called the Gadgeteer's Gat, which has a -25% damage penalty, but gets +5% damage for each point your current sentry has scored (+10% for kills and +5% for assists), up to +40% damage. If your sentry is destroyed, you get mini-crits for, again, how many points that sentry had scored (up to ten seconds).

Crits instead of minicrits. The Flaregun can be played like a ghetto sniper rifle, for 90 damage hits on burning opponents.
...oh really? God I am regretting crafting the det then, used my only flaregun.
just not the shining beacon it was in beta tf2
it should facilitate anyone nicely
It hurts

For those of you who missed it. I highly recommend pre downloading the map. It will save you about 7 minutes of downloading.

from what i tasted its pretty fun though i kept crashing/locking up. no idea as it doesn't happen on any other game at the moment.

A flamethrower that has unlimited range and 400 DPS, but slows down the pyro using it.

edit:
Wait, I thought my Pyro idea was being called useless, not broken. At least, I assume that's what caused this sarcasm.
edit edit: If y'all want me to stop posting weapon ideas, I can.

Oh my god, bear is driving!
And I dunno, I don't really like the idea of ground fires. People will just make walls of the stuff to slow down incoming opponents.
Not a perfect defense against it, but I didn't mean for it to sound overpowered.
And thanks for the clarification. I can't tell, over the internet, when someone's joking, or when they're disappointed with me.
edit: Oh! I just got the joke.
Five on four with spawn camping on sekhmet, which is a shitty map with only one exit from the spawn!
Everyone involved (especially Icy) should be ashamed
(fuck you Icy you fucker)

Oh you missed the pyro update I see. It was like that, but they didn't move slower.
There is some guy that's been playing on honc with a tag like {ICY} or something...

get back to basics you know
my aim is shit, is what i'm getting at
Edit: If that's too powerful, it could only be mini sentries.
Icy was too busy trying to fly:
Give them a sticky launcher, that shoots tiny sticky sentries. They only do 2 damage a hit, but you can have 8 of them.
Also, when the engineer right clicks, they blow up with the force of a 50 megaton bomb (so don't stand within 10 miles of them).
