New Spyro looks hideous. I'm not going to run on about possible implications of that or anything.
But jesus someone hit that poor dragon with the ugly stick.

Fuck the stick, I think they used the whole godamn tree.
I could believe that previous Spyro was a young dragon, this one looks like he's got some kind of growth hormone problem. Like he should be older but he didn't get any bigger. Just uglier.
There's no way the Vita can drop in price. The market Sony is after is happy to pay as much, and expected to be paying more in the first place. Software prices might need to be investigated though - I'm concerned about how such big budget portable games can be profitable without going up to $60.
Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson is in the process of being sued by Bethesda Softworks, though the legal issue has nothing to do with the sandbox indie sensation set to launch later this year. In a blog post explaining the situation today, Notch says Bethesda's attorneys are seeking to stop him from using "Scrolls" for the title of his next upcoming game, stating it infringes on their existing trademark for "The Elder Scrolls" games.
About six months ago, Notch filed trademarks for both Minecraft and his next planned gaming project to be called Scrolls. Shortly after, attorneys for Bethesda contacted him with concerns about the trademark. Notch says he took their concerns seriously and attempted to compromise, though he doesn't believe that his game infringes on their existing trademark.
"The implication that you could own the right to all individual words within a trademark is also a bit scary," he says. "We looked things up and realized they didn't have much of a case, but we still took it seriously. Nothing about Scrolls is meant to in any way derive from or allude to their games." Time passed, and he heard nothing more on the subject until today, when he received a 15-page letter today from Bethesda's legal council threatening a lawsuit if he doesn't stop all use of the name "Scrolls."
Notch says he's a big fan of Bethesda's work, adding "I assume this nonsense is partly just their lawyers being lawyers, and a result of trademark law being the way it is."
He can't change the name to "Magical Paper" because that opens him up to getting sued by the makers of Magical Drop and Paperboy.
He can't change the name to something like "Runes" or "Lore" because that puts him in danger of offending the makers of Runes of Magic or Westwood's Lands of Lore.
He can't call it "Parchment" because of The Seven Parchments of Kandos on ZX Spectrum. I guess maybe that one's less of a risk...
Am I old and senile, or has it always cost $15 for a Gamestop powerup rewards card/renewal? Renewed my card last night, and the guy was all like "Just need $15"
and I'm all "$15?!" and he's "Yeah, its a good deal, huh? *trollface*"
Now I know Edge cards were free...right? I don't remember throwing down any money last year when I got this stupid rewards card..
Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.

It wasn't always but it has been for a good two years or so. That's because you forced to get that awful magazine with it as well now.
So I guess last year when I picked up my Powerup card was the last year they wern't charging. $15 bucks is kind of steep...

Whoa what, it costs $15 to renew Gamestop's stupid card thing? Fuck that shit. I don't even know why I have one in the first place, I never buy used. Especially from them. I think I bought it to get the asses to stop harassing me about getting one.
So I guess last year when I picked up my Powerup card was the last year they wern't charging. $15 bucks is kind of steep...
No, they charged back then. I'm guessing the register biscuit just forgot to charge you or something.
And that magazine is poop from a butt.
No, there is (was?) a free version and a premium version of power up rewards (the free version is new, which seems to be throwing some people). You don't get any discounts with the free version, but you can build up points from buying things and get promotions and such (front of line on game launch nights and such). Should check the website to see if they got rid of it, but I doubt it.

No, they had to charge back then. I've had at least two of the cards for 15$ and haven't had one for over a year now.
Ah yes, the Powerup card. The fact that I didn't have one meant that I had to stand in line behind all the people who had one at the midnight launch of Rock Band 3. And the rewards are laughably paltry considering the up-front fee.
Then again, it's probably making Gamestop bales of money. Grah.
You know what's not making bales of money? DC Universe Online, apparently.
DC Universe Online's rapidly approaching MegaServers unification program will be joining heroic forces together, whether they like it or not. The costumed crime-fighting MMO's 26 worldwide servers are set to be merged into 4 "MegaServers;" 1 PC and 1 PS3 server for the US, with twin servers created for the EU.
Previously hailed as "Super-Servers," MegaServers will give players the ability to switch between PvP and PvE styles of gameplay, and hopefully, new people to actually play with. The merge will begin for EU servers on Monday morning, with US servers following on Tuesday and Wednesday. As is the way with these things, some players will be forced to change their names after the merge, as two characters cannot exist with the same name on the same server.
Ouch. That's Matrix Online levels of cutback there.
I'd buy this game in a heartbeat. An Ork-centric game would be the most god damn hilarious shooter ever.
When you went to check your MP stats, there would only be a "Win" column, and it would just be counting the number of matches you played, all of them wins.

You can view it yourself if you don't believe me. http://www.poweruprewards.com/Home/FAQ There is a free version that started when they started this whole Power Up rewards thing.. the original was always charged around $15, mostly because of the magazine.

Whoa hold your horses there - that's the first time I've seen anyone make this notion (not that I pay close attention). All I've seen for the Vita was what was shown at E3, which was a fair display of original titles (even if one of them is set to an established series).
Not entirely convinced this is "longstanding bias" so much as "bad commercial+awkward mechanics for turning." Given that she was apparently steering more than the other two combined, and bouncing in place would be hard while leaning. And then she starts to bounce again at the end--god forbid the Wii lady looks any less goofy than the Move lady and the Kinect guy.

No no, it's not a cutback, they're just giving their players a huge world changing event. "Crisis on Infinite Servers" where the worlds of the multiverse merge, changing things forever.
I joke, but that would actually be a kind of cool way to handle what is a shitty situation that DC fans might get a kick out of. Chuck the anti monitor in game blowing stuff up or whatever for a while.

At any rate, L.A. Noire and Duke Nukem Forever didn't do much for Take Two.
Grand Theft Auto publisher Take-Two on Monday reported a swing to a loss and a decrease in revenues for the first fiscal quarter ended June 30.
Those losses occurred even as Take-Two released high-profile titles L.A. Noire and Duke Nukem Forever during the period.
Net revenue for the quarter was $334.4 million, down from $375.4 million for the same quarter a year prior, and below Wall Street estimates of $351.2 million, according to Reuters. GAAP losses for the period were $8.6 million, down from profits of $27.4 million year-on-year.
L.A. Noire shipped four million units, Red Dead Redemption's up to 11 million.
On the conference call, CEO Strauss Zelnick swears that Duke Nukem Forever was profitable.
I'm guessing that means L.A. Noire was very not.

After the first 2 million copies of DNF were bought for the sake of remembrance, everyone else listened to the feedback and decided against it. At least that's what I'm going with.

Fair enough, dear sir. The ability to quickly port PS3 content to the Vita (as touted by Sony) has led many to speculate that the early round of Vita titles will be either ports+ (some additional content), or extensive asset reuse with new levels and plot.
Now, I don't necessarily have a problem with this. PS3 games on the go is all I really want from the Vita. New stuff is delicious frosting.

I still plan to pick it up at some point once it goes dirt cheap during a Steam sale. Hopefully they'll have patched the shitty two-weapons system by then (or maybe they already did? :P)
Edit: And yeah, I don't think I've seen much to indicate Vita is a port machine, but then I honestly havn't seen much for Vita at all. Like Henroid said - pretty much just what they showed at e3...

I don't really buy console games anymore though, so the card is moot (I buy PC games on steam/amazon). I bought Catherine. The last game I bought before that was L.A Noire, which, with my old 60gb PS3, I am afraid to play because of the reports out that it can brick your console.
The rumour is apparently true: Team Bondi all assets and IP and be folded into KMM productions, the company owned by Mad Max maker George Miller.
Develop was tipped off by a source who said all staff at Team Bondi had been offered a job within KMM or a severance package.
Whether post-release work will continue on well received crime thriller L.A. Noire was a question refused an answer. Rockstar retains the L.A. Noire IP, Develop noted.
Brendan McNamara, the Team Bondi boss accused of enforcing unfair working practices, is rumoured to be joining KMM. If he does, he'll be reunited with developers who left Team Bondi due to the exhausting conditions before L.A. Noire was completed.
Rumours are also rife that the embattled Sydney, Australia-based Team Bondi had gone bankrupt prior to the KMM deal.
Brendan McNamara was seen touring around the offices of Miller's animation studio Dr D last week. Sources said Team Bondi had been "doomed" by the "scandal" of L.A. Noire's development, and couldn't find another publisher partner, post-Rockstar, to work with.
Rockstar, it was said, had developed "disdain" for Team Bondi during its lengthy relationship as L.A. Noire was made.
