Salary Negotiation

I just finished an interview for a company which was interested in having me perform hard drive diagnostic services for batches of RMA'd drives. I am interested in the job, except they intend to start me off at $13CAD/hr which I find low for the work I'd be doing. I wasn't about to turn the initial interview into a salary negotiation session as I've heard that's something that will essentially kill the interview process, but when is an appropriate time to negotiate a better starting wage and how do I go about it? Also, what sort of pay should I expect from this position? I'm thinking somewhere closer to $17-$20/hr, but I can't think of what an official title for this position would be so I have no idea where to begin looking for a wage comparison.

When the job is offered, that is the time to negotiate.

Just be sure you have some numbers to back it up. Is the HDD thing all you'll be doing? I would say look for HelpDesk Level 1 or HelpDesk Tech to get an idea.

Salary negs come after you have an offer. Their offer should include a pay rate, and you should discuss the rate then.
