Yeah, the forums aren't so attractive but the important thing is that the bigger problems were fixed. It's easier to worry about how it looks after that is taken care of.
It's pretty straightforward. Just download Stylish for your browser (it works in Chrome and Firefox) and install the extension. You can go in pretty easily and change the color scheme to whatever preference you have by going into Tools -> Add-Ons -> User Styles, and clicking "edit" under the "Penny-Arcade - Darkened" scheme.
I figure it'll be easy enough to get accustomed to the new layout, but my immediate initial impression was "man this is going to make browsing the AC kind of shitty"
I wonder if there are any plans to have multiple color schemes or are we going to have to 3rd party it?
Looking at the vanilla forum it seems we are going to have to 3rd party it, but People are already getting to work on making themes..
Alot of the graphics seem oddly pixelated or fuzzy to me. The draft saving is pretty awesome, though.
Dang... it's kind of lame that we have to resort to 3rd parties to keep our eyes from straining. I wish they'd just make the basic color design something decent (it doesn't even have to be as good as the old one) and everyone else can do what they want from there.
I appreciate PA hosting the forums for free and all... but has anything improved with the new forums? If, in the future, they are faster and more reliable, that's certainly a plus. But I don't see why every person has to have "User" next to their names. Don't like the color scheme. I appreciated the subtlety of the old design. Everything here is bold and in your face, which is not an improvement in my opinion. It's not that I'm not used to the new design, I just don't like it. Sorry to be such a complainer.

I feel about the same Nib.
I really did like the way the old forum looked from the first time i stepped in it. This seems like a rather large step back, even with some modding to get the colors the same.
For stability, Im willing to stick it out and hope some of the features are coming back. Its not like the old forums were fully featured right out of the box. The cosmetic stuff I can deal with but some of the basics like code buttons and advanced mode are really sorely missing.

I can definitely understand wanting those things back... but the cosmetic stuff is important to me because i was getting a headache after 15 min or so. That's not really good for a place i want to waste a lot of my time :-))
edit: and this place's smiley system doesn't work... how does that happen (if you select certain smileys from the drop down, it glitches and posts a different one....)

i miss the smiley that had his eyebrows go up and down. He was a bit of a legend around here...
Also, am i the only one being bombarded with emails after bookmarking this thread?
I like the popup windows, but i cannot seem to be able to turn off emailing for bookmarked threads (since there is no checkbox next to it for email)
Huh? I still have all mine, it's just called "Conversations" now. Click the envelope on the top right.
EDIT: Also fuck it's going to drive me up the wall getting a notification every time someone posts in the doodle thread, just because I made the OP for it this time.
One of my coworkers today pointed out that I had lost a lot of weight since I started at this place.
Which was great because I got to go from feeling pretty sour about my weight (having just eaten cold pizza for breakfast) to feeling like maybe I shouldn't beat myself up so much. Overall, a good day.

Not overly fond of staring at an almost pure white background for extended periods of time either.
Oh well!
Someone tap me when the light's subsided.

I liked the old blue.
edit: nvm, that script is done really poorly. IT makes it difficult to distinguish anything. O well. Im sure the shittiness will grow on me.
Anyone know who is responsible for this new layout?
Clicking on the thread title now takes you to the first new post.
Also there are no more blue dots. In order to bookmark a thread, you click on the little flag thing on the far right-hand side

The one I linked was serviceable but I was going to need to dig around in the code and replace all the blue values soon enough.
Speaking of digging around, I delved to the deepest depths of my post-count and am now perusing a doodle thread from 2006.
I wonder what ever happened to Arisa.
I donno but I still have her Halloween drawing. She just completely dropped of the face of the earth one day.
Everyone should try this forum color scheme mod for less whiteness, deathofrats just updated!
Ditto! I'm still sad the halloween drawing she promised me got lost in the mail.
also boooooooooredom... I can't draw for shit lately, can't wait to get home
Yeah, this is perfect. Also much easier to tell at a glance whether there's been any activity in a thread. Edit: Ooof. Thumbs-up is gone.
Yess!!!
