I picked up a kodak Zx1 for free in some sort of give away but when I went to hook it up to my computer it's not being detected at all. I'm on windows 7 and it doesn't show up under computer or devices, and trying to find devices to add brings up nothing. It's conected through a USB. anyone have experience hooking this thing up to their computer?

Stupid question, but do you have it turned on?

chances are you just don't have the drivers/updates for it installed. Kodak's website has a free download of the driver you'll need; that should fix it

Quick thing to check, I've encountered a huge number of Vista and several dozen 7 systems with problems relating to services not starting properly. In the start menu box, run services.msc. Scroll down and make sure the Plug and Play service is started and automatic. If it's not, run services.msc as administrator and go back down to P&P. Right click to start it, then again for properties and set it to automatic.

Hopefully if this is the problem you don't get an Access Denied error when you try to correct the settings.

Failing that, have you tested it on any other computers? The connector on the camera could be shot. I think that's unlikely since it turns on when you hook up the USB, so it's at least getting power, but... When things are free, there's often a reason.
