Going into alt mode just because I dont want this Google-ing up with my screenname, which I use for alot of things.
So In the last 2 years I'd broken 5 vibrators, two bullets, an egg, and two plastic "traditional" style ones. I have one silicone style "realistic" one, but I use it very rarely (and of course, that ones going strong). I paid more than 20 bucks for most of these things (not the egg) But they all seemed pretty cheap once out of packaging, and I find reviews on sites to be pretty goddamn unreliable. Its more like "My wife loves this *WINKY FACE*" than any useful shit.
Alot of these guys ran into simple failures, the screw/on-off component would crack because of crappy plastic, a wire would unseat itself. to So Im considering plopping down just a little more for hardy hardware, but I'd like some reviews that cover longevity, and I have not found any.
Spending
over 100 is just a little too spendy in my situation, and realistically id like to keep it in the 50 dollar range. Pointing me into the direction of excellent reviews would be fine. Also, I guess if my expectations for a toy to be well built and last more than 7 months is off, maybe tell me that too.
I'm interested in the Jimmy Jane toys, but holy hell are they pricey. Also waterproofing is no benefit to me whatsoever.

I have this awesome purple rabbit that came with a bullet with anal attachment that has lasted me about 3 years. The head spins and the shaft has spinning beads that are amazing!!
This is what I sorta have right now. It is slightly different, but same brand and such. That is also the site I usually order from.
Like headphones; You can find Skullcandies for $15-20, better for $50 and best at $100.
Eggs/bullets are a POS unless you're spending like $30.
I sell Vibrators (yes, those kind) for a living. If you want to ask more direct questions, you're welcome to PM me. :]
After purchasing lots of different vibrating sex toys with my wife, and having most of them break, malfunction, or just suck (weak motor, etc.) we decided to go "industrial strength" and got one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Hitachi-HV250R-Magic-Wand-Massager/dp/B0009XNRN0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1309213717&sr=8-1
it's a Hitachi Magic Wand - an AC powered "massager". It's built like a tank, and never runs out of batteries b/c it's plugged into the wall! One addition she liked was a variable speed 'dimmer' type device for it since the two stock speeds didn't seem to satisfy all the time.
I feel like such simple devices should be cheaper, but knowing I'm on the low end does help. I cant afford to make the leap to 100, so I'll try to look at some mid range devices and see what can be done. It is a pretty essential item for my personal well being, so its worth a few extra bucks, I would just hate to shell out and still not see the build quality improve.
It seems like bullets/longer vibes are my favorite, so putting down 30+ on a reliable one would be just fine.
I've considered a magic wand, as my first toy was actually a back massager that I'm pretty sure I stole from my parents, it did last for a long while (6ish years, then the wire frayed) but I decided I wanted to stop holding up such a bulky thing. I was clearly misusing the thing, it had two vibrating nodes and was pretty heavy. I've come to like the lighter buzzy type of vibe over the deeper, rumbly vibe of the old massager though, I dont know what the wand does.
I think they have floor models in brookstone though. I can hold one in my hand and contemplate while im sure making the employees there feel uncomfortable.
Data Is Not The Plural Of Anecdote and all that but they seem to care about their packaging and design and stuff too so I'd hope that would translate into caring about their reputation and thus reliability. (naive?)
I highly recommend saving and spending the money on something better.
If you are looking for something versatile (clitoral / vaginal / and gspot stimulation then I can't recommend one of these enough http://www.amazon.com/Lelo-Gigi-Massager-Petal-Pink/dp/B004RRGERU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1309216089&sr=8-1. It's light and easy to maneuver and can hit any of the spots you've recommended. Yes, it's expensive, but look around at the reviews (and I can speak anecdotally) it's expensive for a reason.
Or you could hit your traditional Rabbit. Though, those are awfully heavy and kind of difficult to change the speeds and such of with one hand.
EDIT: Beaten by 6 minutes. Yeah, Lelo has a great reputation for the reasons the previous poster wrote.
My best toys and things, Ive found while at a local store where I got to see the demo version of things, have the sales people tell me about them, etc. Thankfully my city has an awesome sextoy store that prides itself on being women friendly (mostly it just doesnt have videos around which removes some of the squidgy factor for me) with sales people who know their things and have a model open for almost every thing they sell. I have issues with some of the... squishier textures so being able to determine ahead of time if its going to be a texture that grosses me out
Eden Fantasys has much more extensive reviews than those on adam and eve, which is a nice resource. Adam and Eve apparently has a retail store not to far from me, so That's an option for me too.
I also suggest buying from Adam and Eve .com and signing up for their mailing list. They e-mail insane, like NewEgg level specials, constantly.
Search for a certain sex advice author's name to get a discount too.
But yes, the Rabbit seems to be the one that gets the deed done.
