I've used bittorrent a couple of times but for some reason it just doesn't wanna work anymore. Is there a better client out there? Or rather, what yall suggest?

    Most people would suggest uTorrent.

    uTorrent is pretty good and small/light.

    Some ISPs block BitTorrent traffic, but you can often circumvent it by using encryption and/or random incoming ports. You can turn those things on in uTorrent in options->preferences->
    connection->randomize port each time...
    and
    bittorrent->protocol encryption

    But how do you forward a port if its randomized? If I forward the port uTorrent is set on, I get great speeds, for a while. I assumed that my ISP was blocking it like you said, but if I randomize, I can't port forward.

    Or can I?

    Oh, and sorry for threadjack.

    http://portforward.com/ is the way to go to figure out how to port forward depending on your router and such you are using. I see a significant difference in speeds having my ports forward when d/ling torrents.

    If you have a router that supports UPNP, then it can automatically forward the port utorrent uses. That's what I do.

    Well, what's all this crap bout it's now owned by BitTorrent which is owned by the MPAA? Buncha people being all paraniod on the forums. Go for an older version?

    Okay, Im running the new version. For some reason torrents start to download for about a min and then stop with a access is denied error. I randomized ports and turned encription on. I'm on a DSL line through the phone. Is this my ISP blocking it?

    editededed again: Umm....forced encryption and random port seems to be doing it. Must be the isp then. I just dont think I can call em and ask em can i?

    Oh, I didn't know about that. I did read something about BT working with "hollywood", but it was about making some movie distribution software.

    Anyway, if you're afraid for your privacy then there's always Azureus, which also supports encryption but is open source, so the more paranoid users would probably point out any spying code.
    It's more resource-hungry than uTorrent though, and I find its interface clunky.

    edit: I guess you could ask them, though they probably won't turn the filter off for you :)
    changing the ISP might not be too hard...
