NASL is the bottle depot of starcraft. God bless them giving the less fortunate jobs.
edit: I'm sorry. The NASL has production issues but I am still watching it. They do produce exciting starcraft, and thats actually what I'm here for. I just like making jokes.
they definitely zoom in on the players in ways that you can appreciate their existence more than other regular leagues, making them seem like the real stars they are
Day9 definitely trumps most negativity with his AOE manner
in other news, did anyone else catch that hon is going to be in nasl in season two? so now it's the north american star league, which isn't actually just north america and isn't just starcraft
i mean hon is cool
but it seems kind of random and they don't exactly have a 100% grip on starcraft either

What is wrong with their SC2 tournament? Besides some mess ups for the live event the season was great.
i'm not saying their prerecorded stuff is like terrible shit, but there is still room for improvement
i don't know, i just don't see them exactly in a position to take on something like that (which probably has a much higher logistical component considering hon has five man teams that all need to coordinate together and get on at the same time, etc etc)

i'm a big quibbler though so
I am guessing it will be another team or something, not sure why they brought in HoN especially since I think HoN is a less popularr version of LoL.

while hon has less people playing (at least I'm pretty sure it does) it is 10000000X better for competitive purposes, unless things have massively changed with LoL

The HoN folks might have seen LoL buying themselves a Dreamhack tournament and how much attention it got their game and want in on that.
I didn't realise that every game but one in the Ro16 is Foreigner vs Korean (and the other one is Korean vs Korean). So I guess we'll be lucky to see a single non-Korean in the Ro8.

observer mode, to start
LoL's a stupidly imbalanced and borderline impossible to meaningfully observe game. Not least of which because yeah there's no observer mode.
But I think "Has a giiiiiiiiiiiiiiigantic built in audience" is more important than pretty much anything else if you're adding to your set of gaming leagues.
I mean really, LoL's first foray into Dreamhack with a half-assed observer mode hack and shitty casters dwarfed every other Dreamhack game combined.
kedinik on
I made a game! Hotline Maui. Requires mouse and keyboard.
All the MOBA games are kind of a bummer for esports.
Because MOBA is taking off like whoa.
But all these companies are making MOBA games, so one game might do well for a while, then something new comes out, and I don't think there will be enough time to gather a solid community behind each game.
I dunno, maybe the genre will do well esports-wise

Two (one is white ra and sen, one is boxer MC).
I think Hasu, Sen, and perhaps even Darkforce could win (and most likely to win in that order, too, I'd say).

I think LoL has observer mode now, isn't that what they showed off at dreamhack? They also mentioned replays and other things. I mean they have good intent, but they really are just in it for the money. Simple as that, they ruin the game by releasing 2 champions a month.
I mean they have a really good team with the best intentions I think, but fuck...they game is never the same it is constantly being changed.

I was expecting M$ and other such companies trying to neural parasite their diet cokes and such into our psyches.
Maybe the NASL investor fund is actually really small, and so they're making do with what they have?
Seems like it. Kudos to them.

I hope he knows that he's the best observer in the world. It sounds like a joke but if he's actually doing it I'm going to tune back in
EDIT: v Oh well, Tuned in to see marines trying to shoot broodlings instead of the broodlords and I know Morrow learned a good lesson

that sounds good to me
also of course the koreans are going to beat everyone
Actual tears will be produced.
Yeah, Tyler, Idra, Huk, Ret, are all Korean. Just like all those great Baseball and basketball players, they are all American.

Could do great if he chained together consecutive brilliant performances.
edit: oh right, Select is kind of a foreigner. TL thread has a Korean flag next to his name, confused me.

but to get any observing in lol you basically have to get riot on deck and have them do it for you
it's just infinitely easier to do hon because you don't have to get the game developers to arrange every match for you so you can just watch it
but overrall, i think because of how impossibly hard to spectate the entire genre really isn't cut out for big things
but what do i know
