Pete Hines confirmed that Skyrim will unlock when it is 0:01 in your timezone.
Hmm..buying the game on Steam and pulling an all-nighter just became a lot more attractive.
There's one fatal flaw in your plan though: there's no work waiting for me on Friday, just one class at university..and I don't have to go there, technically...ahem.
I was planning to take Friday off work so the girlfriend and I could spend a three day weekend playing Skyrim, but I'm all out of holiday time and there's no way I can justify an unpaid day off

You can kill a dragon and absorb its powers in Skyrim.

You (probably) can't do this at work.
Justification right there.
Well then. It appears my priorities just got adjusted.
So I take it those screenshots are from the PC version? It looks good. Getting more and more excited for my thief\mage.

You know its actually a good thing Skyrim is being released on a Friday. So when I'm sleep-deprived the next day I'll know I only have to wait a day for the weekend to come.
I'm the worst kind of person. I literally thought, "Fuck, I have to go to a Foo Fighters concert on the 11th."
Bad Toldo! As a punishment, give these tickets to me.
I'm kind of in the same boat, though..one of my best friends is turning 23 on the 11th and he's probably throwing one hell of a party. I find myself not looking forward to it as much as I should.

Now you get to learn what it's like for the UK! All our games come out on Friday. Which is why I order from Shopto, who almost always get it to you a day early!

It's a 2-part zip, so you'll need both files to extract the .flv file. New footage after the intro part at 30mins in.
Also the player in this is a complete asshole, they manage to kill almost everyone in Riverwood.
Anyone found a cheap place to Digital Download this? I'm 90% sure this game will be available for pre-load, so i'm looking for a site that does pre-loads. So far i've found D2D for $55

Wouldn't you just get a code for it from Direct2Drive given that it's a Steamworks title?

Yes. They'll give the code like 2 days before launch, you punch it into steam, and begin the preload. Some game sites, like ones that sell cd keys, will not send you a code before launch day. So you cannot preload the game

They'll probably have the installer downloadable as well, as if you had bought the DVD version. Though why you wouldn't just enter the code in steam and go that route, I don't know.

There is no installer, you will have to run the game through Steam.
The only reason I haven't done a preorder via a digital service is that Bethesda is a local company and gave out swag and was signing game covers at a local store when Fallout 3 came out. I'm basically trying to find out if they plan to do the same for Skyrim again. Normally I'd prefer to not have another disc and box cluttering up the place, but this is a little different.
Of course not, but.... actually. See I've only ever done this once back when Modern Warfare 2 released. I can't for the life of me remember if I COULD install it from the disk, if there was even a damned disk in the case etc.
Yeah, if you buy a physical copy you still get a DVD which you install it off of. Only thing I can't remember is if you sign into Steam as part of the install or when you try to run it the first time..
This is based off of my purchasing a physical copy of Deus Ex, which was Steamworks.
Yeah steamworks games definitely have discs, and they can definitely always be installed off said discs, they'll just patch and update via steam, and you can always just download them entirely from steam.
The thing about that is, they dont always put the game on the disk My friend bought a physical copy of Total War: Shogun 2, and the disc was just an installer to type in cdkey in the box and then you downloaded the game. I know Sega does not equal Bethesda, but it was a Steamworks game.

Next question, obviously, is : Can I hit a man in the ass with a warhammer so hard that his head explodes?

Hats off to whoever it was that provided that quote in the New Vegas thread when the game was released.

The Way of the Future, etc.
I AM curious, if anyone has pre-ordered off of Direct2Drive, did you already receive your code for Steam pre-loading goodness?
it comes preloaded on the disc

Unless I'm mistaken on how Steamworks games work.
You aren't.
Skyrim = Steamworks = you are playing the game on PC through Steam, no exceptions.
I really thought this was common knowledge.

I mean if Bethesda tried to even hint that one of their big franchises weren't moddable I think the fans would flip their shit.
Wonder if you can lop off other limbs, maybe on a crit?
