Anyone found a cheap place to Digital Download this? I'm 90% sure this game will be available for pre-load, so i'm looking for a site that does pre-loads. So far i've found D2D for $55
Wouldn't you just get a code for it from Direct2Drive given that it's a Steamworks title?
They'll probably have the installer downloadable as well, as if you had bought the DVD version. Though why you wouldn't just enter the code in steam and go that route, I don't know.
There is no installer, you will have to run the game through Steam.
Unless I'm mistaken on how Steamworks games work.
I think you misunderstood what I said. Yes you still need Steam, but when you buy the game on a disc, the game data is there. You run an installer when you put the disc in, which installs Steam, and I would imagine pre-loads the game in to Steam, but it doesn't require you to then DL the entire game.
I would imagine D2D will give you both the code, and the option to download the game blob directly from them, as if you had the disc in hand. In the end, you are still DL'ing it, but if you get better straight HTTP/FTP DL's from a service like D2D than you do form Steam, then this may be a DL option for you.
This is how other Steamworks games that come on a disc work.
So some highlights from that stream of the non-spoilery variety:
As Dave said, Zombie Elk. Apparently the raise zomble spell works on any kind of corpse.
They fought and killed a Dragon, not sure what difficulty it's set on, may be cause it was the first one you fight.
I REALLY like the NPC interactions, not sure if it's just because they were (I think) on the main quest, but they spoke to each other about what just happened. When the person used a shout in front of a guard, the guard spoke in awe about it.

I dunno, I don't worry much about spoilers in Bethesda RPG's. The stories are never that strong. I mean, I've beaten Oblivion three times and I can barely tell you what the story was. Dragon gem, fires, hell gates, oh big dragon, okay I win.
Now, if it was Mass Effect 3, I would be turning the internet off for a week :P
It's a 2-part zip, so you'll need both files to extract the .flv file. New footage after the intro part at 30mins in.
Also the player in this is a complete asshole, they manage to kill almost everyone in Riverwood.

NPC #1: What's going on with you?
NPC #2: I ran into a dragon the other day. Annoying creatures.
NPC #1: Goodbye.

Here's a question: do physical copies of Steamworks games also have a disc check, or is the Steam DRM all? Because I hate putting things in my drive.

Sweet robot Jesus, this thing should get game of the year just for having a Raise Zombie spell (that works on actual corpses).
Shut up, Mr. Burton! You were not brought upon this world to get it!
Well from the segment of the stream I allowed myself to watch I have to say I'm pleased by the number of NPCs around the towns, the city seemed like a bustling community with alot of people living there.

It won't be after I'm through.
The reign of Emperor Basilicus Laudanum will be marked by a curiously large Guard to Civilian ratio.
I've read through a bunch of this now; what's the cheapest preorder people are going with on PC? $48 from Newegg?
I believe they've ran that deal twice over a couple weekends. It may not be available any longer.
The cheapest PC deal I know of is Direct2Drive, at $54. If you want a box, and you don't want to drive to a store, Amazon offers release day delivery for $1. Free if you're a Prime member.
I'd just like to voice my polite(FUCKFUCKINGFUCKFUCKYOU) opinion on the matter of selling PC games at $60.
I do not care for it.
Well, you can always wait for price drops, but patience is pain.

I hope someone makes a mod like the Underground Hideout for New Vegas. I loved that - walls with weapon racks where you could collect stuff; a box to deposit ammo in and then press a button that sorted your ammo and put it in neat rows on shelves and stuff. So awesome.

Absolutely. Except I want it to be a log cabin in a remote location I've hewn out of massive timber. Bearskin rug is NOT optional.

According to the chat it's not a legit copy of the game... not sure if I don't feel dirty watching it now =/.
I think all they'd have to do is patch their Construction set.
People are probably already working on mods.
So I'd say it would be just as moddable as Morrowind and Oblivion.

BOOOOO leaked copy! Nobody wants to see that shit before hand, I like to discover things in a Bethesda game first hand...
If any of you guys want to spoil it for yourselves, please use spoiler tags.
I was just looking on Hines twitter and the same link popped up on there. Guess they dealt with it.

Actually I think the stream got shut down by Bethesda.
No disc check, all steam.

It comes out on my birthday, yaaay
But it's also the day that friends are coming in to town so I can't spend ALL DAY playing it (booo)
I have been curious, and I've poked around but just to be sure: There's no type of multiplayer, right?
Crunch Crunch! Munch Munch! Chomp Chomp! Gulp!
Someone did ask about co-op a while ago but they said no to that.

I hope that the mages guild is still as forgiving about their new recruits stealing everything that is isn't locked under plate glass.
The mage guild was a little more generous than the Fighter's Guild.
Pick a lock on a glass case in the Fighters Guild for REPLICA items.
I think it was mentioned somewhere that you can't just take everything that isn't bolted down in a guild's headquarters anymore.
I guess I'll just have to earn money the honest way by killing travelers outside of the first city, then.
*Jumps up and down gleefully*
Wait what? Sorry. It comes out four days before my own birthday, so....
BIRFDAY PRESENT YAY!

I'm normally so good at waiting for price drops. I haven't paid full price for a game all year.
But Skyrim, oh Skyrim. It pulls at my heart. I need it 11.11.11. One day longer SHALL NOT PASS.
