I had a lot of trouble joining the PAers the last time we had this going. There was all kinds of mods and crap being used and I had no idea what to do with them combined with massive lag issues when i did finally join...i ended up giving up sadly =(

All kinds of mods and crap? There was only one mod required with detailed install instructions in the OP. The problem is that the base game is extremely limited with only a handful of maps and gets boring fast. I don't think I would be interested in playing vanilla again, at least not regularly.

I don't mind playing modded or unmodded. Whatever everyone can generally agree on. Assuming enough people become interested. I was looking around and found a couple hosts that do BF2. One of them is shitty from past experience though.

When you guys were playing not too long ago what type of server were you running? As far as privacy and size goes.

It was passworded, but it was one PA regulars would know. I'm not sure what the max size was, but I don't think more than 16 people were ever on. Lots of bots, though.

I'd be interested in playing, but can't really play much during the week. Definitely should be the same modded version we were running before.

It's funny. The multiplayer was really well done (which is good, as that was the focus), The AI in skirmish maps is admittedly not the best certainly a viable play style, but for the love of all things the single player campaign mode has some of the most inane AI I have seen. Unless the goal for the AI is to destroy a particular target (which they go after with single minded abandon), then EVERY enemy AI seems to be programmed to A) find the player and B) Kill the player.

"I have an enemy tank rolling up to me? Nah, I'll go after the trooper on the other side of the map that's nowhere near any objectives. The tank will ignore me anyways."

I remember the PS2 version on Hard being really painful to finish for this exact reason. Never mind that you're almost always on your own and have zero backup to rely on.

    -NECRO-

I've had this game for almost a year, and have yet to give it a real fair bit of play. Maybe only an hour or so, as yet.

Going by this thread, has the multi died, or just no reason for new posts?

we had a PA server up, but it got a bit pricey over time, so now the multi is dormant. lots of us still own the game, though!

So I was browsing the interwebz, looking for a fix for BF2's disturbingly bad HUD, and I happened across this forum topic. I was wondering if I could get in on your steam group, maybe? My Steam name is the same as this one: Darth_Bothersome.
