Can anyone talk a bit about the Frozen Synapse single-player campaign mode? How long does it take to play through? How enjoyable is it compared to the multiplayer modes?
I'm really interested in Frozen Synapse, but I think I'd like to wait until it got a bit cheaper. I'm asking about the SP stuff because if I wait to pick it up, I'm worried the MP might be dead by then.
Ok quick. All I know about Alpha Protocol is from the super old Launch Trailer. How is it? Is it buggy? Story cool? Gameplay? Really tempted but I already spent more than the price of AP on gifts =p
Great story, and perhaps the best implementation of cause-and-effect in a game that's ever been attempted.
I can only remember one significant bug (having to do with the mouse) but I'm pretty sure that's been patched.
The enjoyability of the gameplay varies massively depending on what build you choose for your character. The builds are not balanced at all and so if you make poor choices you might end up in boss fights that you have no real chance of winning. So reading up on the game a bit before starting is recommended.
How is it compared to Fallout 3? Are any of the dlc worth it? Will it trap my soul?
In my opinion New Vegas is the all around better game, to the point where I originally bought it on PS3 and then RE-bought it for PC once I got my new rig up and going.

I love Alpha Protocol, the gameplay is okay (some people hate it, I like it. Just stick with Pistols) but the story, voice-acting and writing are amazing. It's basically a Spy Action RPG and your choices can make a lot of difference with the story.
Edit: It's not that buggy either, I found it quite stable when I played through it a few months ago.
Awesome, thanks! Sounds like something I would enjoy! I shall think about that or New Vegas!
Also Tav, did you get the gift? The purchase acted a little funny but I think it went through.

I love Fallout 3. But I like New Vegas even more than F3. It has a great story, really good gameplay (aiming down the sights adds a lot), good writing and I feel it is more vibrant and colorful and alive than Fallout 3. It has a different feel to it atmosphere-wise. I recommend it.
I just got the DLCs myself so I can't comment on those.
So, I remember Alpha Protocol getting kinda torn apart by reviewers, but I've seen a couple people on my friends list playing it.
Any good?

Whew! Steam plays mercy after I got Brotherhood. The Bionic Commando games are too rich for my blood, most of the rest I have or don't want, save for New Vegas...
Well, I am interested in Fire & Sword... but if the above poster is any indication, it can wait.

Well if you're trying to decide between AP and New Vegas, I'd go with the latter actually. I love AP but it's sort of short(encourages more playthroughs) but NV is long and also encourages multiple playthroughs. I've put 7 hours into AP (beating it once), and 58 hours into AP (beaten it once, playing through it again, the first time through was not a full playthrough. Not including DLCs either.)
Serious Sam is doing that thing they always do: advertising the pack at $7.99, when you can actually get both games for $5.99. The difference is that the $7.99 version comes with the original games, but the new ones are just upgraded, HD remakes; who wants the originals?
Save yourself $2 and click through to the cheaper package.

There are actually some rooms in the originals that just could not be done in the remakes. Namely anti-grav. Plus the HD editions are a bit hard to run. So you could still play the originals while you wait to get a new computer that can run them.
Feels strange, own or have played the vast majority of these. Trine and Frozen Synapse are awesome. Might check out Mount and Blade or Alpha Protocol. Serious Sam kinda interested in as it has been ages since I played the originals.
I've heard good things about Bully, but I don't know
I played Bully long ago on console (though I've heard good things about the PC port). Loved it. Loved it so much I'm sitting here arguing with myself not to buy it on PC, because I know I'll never get around to playing it again, but I just... I just want it. I want to pay them more money because I enjoyed it so much.
1. What's a good serious sam map to "drown" an enemy in?
2. What counts as a "great" sword, and how long would it take me to get a male companion in Warband?
3. How does one stay underwater without taking damage in Trine?
No Jamestown! I'm being tempted by the Doom Pack, but I have a self imposed limit of monies for this sale and I have already used some of it taking care of some honour debts.
But at least I already own Trine, thanks to a nice PA fellow during the thanksgiving sale, so at least I can get one of the gaming tickets.
I have more games thanks to gifts than to my budget during this sale.
C'mon! I want to buy Jamestown!

I have had good results by visiting each individual Game's Steam Forum.
Yes, they don't have a good reputation as boards, but you will find 2 or 3 threads discussing how to get the achievement.
Come on guys, it's been 47 minutes and no one has been talking about how to get the tickets yet for the games most of us have. We are not pleasing the Newell!

So it was a sequel that came out before Serious Sam 2?

They're already in my account to gift, and I already have my own copies.

It's an excellent game. A story that changes based on your decisions (in some cases, drastically).
It has some poor design decisions - bosses, in particular.
Also, there's a sales tax on digital goods in WA?
I need to save money for the rest of the sale, I think. Fifteen dollars on the soundtrack edition of Frozen Synapse just blew my budget for today
Half of my budget gone and six days of sale left. Jesus Christ I'm in trouble

Now... for my initiation into the gift giving, who wants the extra copy? First to add me and post in the thread gets it.

Welp. Honest hearts is mine now.

It's too bad APB bombed the way it did. The design stuff in that game was like a game unto itself. Some really great user-created content in there.
