you can also use the support class' airstrike to get the achievement. i would find a server with 1 or 2 people on it, more than likely its people trying to get teh cheavo and then ask if you can get the cheavo
I'm playing the A.I. War demo and it is staggeringly complex. I've done three tutorial missions and I still don't know how to shoot things. The game also warns me that I will need 7-12 hours to beat the AI with help from my friends. How does anyone play this?
Also can anyone tell me about this Guild Wars thing and if it's any good and if so which one I should buy?
All of them. The trilogy+eyes of the north.
It's a fun MMO type deal, but more interesting because you can play the entire game (Well, 90% of it, some stuff is a bit too complex) with bots and really not even notice the difference.
Getting eye of the north unlocks an achievement type system, these cheevos will carry over benefits into the new guild wars game coming out.. god knows when, and its looking /fantastic/.
So if you have any interest in the awesome sequel, getting the first games to do the cheevos is pretty worth it.
All I can tell you about AI War is that it's absolutely amazing.
And that I can't get past the tutorial.
buy it

Has anyone been having problems with the Steam "authorize your PC with this numeric code" thing? I just reinstalled Windows on my other computer and it is saying the code has been sent, but there's nothing in my email.

I just kept hitting the try to send another code button over and over and over until it eventually sent me one.

It's a pretty great on-line RPG, with some traits of MMOs. Not anywhere near as grindy, all gear is permanent for instance, and effective gear is pretty easily obtained. Getting really shiny stuff can take some doing, but it won't give any kind of advantage. More of a status symbol in-game than anything else. Characters are multiclassed and this makes for really interesting combinations, the skill system is more like a CCG than anything else. There really aren't skill trees or anything and characters can be respecced any time you are in a town, for free. The cooperative and PvP gameplay are both really well done, there is a mother loving ass ton of content, the campaigns are really well done, putting you in the midst of driving events in the games lore. They feel more like single-player cooperative RPGs in that sense. I think Arenanet really did a great thing with Guild Wars. It holds up well, and there are still PAers playing this.
As far as which one to get if you had to choose just one? I'd suggest Nightfall if it's only going to be one. Really though, Trilogy plus Eye of the North is one of the best deals in online RPGs ever at the moment. I have all the stuff and I enjoy it all greatly. Plus no subs means you never feel like you have to commit to the game. It's there for when you want to enjoy it, and it can be played solo if you wish or you can be as social as you like. Arenanet did a good job designing the game to be playable as the player wants to experience it.

Earlier in the thread people were saying Eye of the North can be gotten elsewhere cheaper. I assume this could then be integrated into the Steam-purchased Trilogy. For example, it's $6 at newegg.

Ah, yes, if you can find eye of the north cheaper elsewhere, then its definitely worth just getting there. You register it all the same way.

So now I've completed moved on from wanting the cheap Clear Sky to wanting this. I should just disconnect my modem for the next five days
Oh dangitall I thought I'd found a better use for this old play-and-charge. Okay, that makes more sense. What complete bullshit!
Don't beat yourelf up over it, you'd be surprised how many people have done the same, myself included. The easiest thing to do is to just get wired pads, the wireless adaptor can also have issues with driver compatibility.
And never mind when it shorts out and you have to solder over a fuse or whatever that tiny thing was.

Yeah it looks really good, but I'm holding off until the second game is released soonish as I don't have the time to commit right now when I should be completing my thesis.
Question for those that have had this happen: I made purchases and after submitting the purchases I got an error saying Steam was unable to complete them and to contact support. The purchases show up in my transaction history as having failed. I sent a ticket in, but what I'm wondering is if I try the purchases again later and they go through will I get double billed? Or is my account locked now and I have to wait for the support ticket to be resolved before I can do anything else?

Hmmm kinda pricey for maps, oh well time to buy Vikings and Vikings only and play them every game
I was.
anyone else?
Nope. It's yet to be a daily sale or one of the Daily Camp Activities.
Which now requires you to know the name of a character on your account in order to log in.
I have no idea what my character names from 5-6 years ago were, or are.
So now I get to play the "wait for NCSoft support to email me back" game.
Edit: Holy crap, I actually guessed correctly. Go me!
I'm a poor fool who spent all his money before it went on sale
I'm trying to buy it, but Steam won't accept ma monies

If you're having problems getting the Steam Guard authentication code, quit Steam, restart your router, log back in. I got a new code this way.

2 isn't coming out until at least 2012.
Just to Boss Rush to Beginning Trancefusion
Immediately when it starts, you'll get two gunships. Destroy the turrets, fuck around for a minute. Takes no time at all.
It's a lot more difficult in Survival, so much so that I suspect that this cheevo is designed to push sales of Beat Hazard Ultra.

Play through to the fifth stage, that's the first time water shows up.
Then just jump in, and switch characters when one gets low on oxygen.
I want to say it took me about an hour.
