Over the past couple years my certainty has ratcheted away from "might be" to "probably am" transgendered. Male to female.
I've been seeing a counselor at UHCL for depression, mostly, though she knows about my gender issues as well and wants to be helpful but just doesn't know much about it. A friend has pointed me toward a psychologist, though Google has not made it seem like he specializes in gender issues. I'll call him sometime when my professional life has settled down a bit.
I guess it's a longshot to ask here, but really I'm looking for
any recommendations for a transgendered person in the Houston area. Doctors, support groups, what have you.
Thanks.

@Ceres: Oops. Edited.
@Esh: Been there for a social. Not what I was expecting...really it's a little house, though I think that an org owns/rents it. Have meant to go back.

Their mayor is openly gay, so there definitely is that.
Houston isn't really an exception as well, it's just that nobody really cares enough to be vocal about the issue. So I guess that's kind of a benefit.
And really Houston is pretty tolerant. Partly by virtue of it being big and urban in places. There seems to be a really big LGBT community, but I just keep ending up with small groups that mostly seem concerned with their small group stuff. I could go years without hearing about another fundraiser.
