I make really cute animal hoodies, like taking a grey hoodie and putting raccoon ears on the hood, and hanging a striped tail from the rear. People seem to like them when I go out wearing it, but I'm just not sure there's much market for hoodies customized like critters. Thoughts?

You could try setting up an ETSY shop, but from what I've noticed, it seems like a pretty saturated market. Cute animal hoodies/hats that is.
Make a few prototypes, post the examples up on DA or some other site that has a artist community and a market of furries (fur affinity), if you aren't already. Drum up some interest, and then either take commissions that cover the material costs + hours of work, or make a stock and sell them on etsy.
Don't take my word as gospel. It's just what I've noticed around, but living in Portland, this kind of thing is much more prevalent than a lot of other cities.
Maybe try selling a few at a craft show or something and if that goes well, move up to an artist booth at a comic/anime/nerd convention.

It's still good to have an etsy store just for people that want to buy online. It's a good way to be able to go "here's my card with a link to my store" if someone sees you wearing one of your hoodies and is like "where did you get that"
