heh. So I tell Tayrun that Stubbs apparently doesn't run well on windows 7. I tried the demo and no luck, so i tell him that it does indeed have major issues. He tells me he's gonna spite gift it to me and the classy but evil fella goes through with it.
So now I have my first spite gift that is genuinely working as intended. it'll sit there taunting me forever.
A demo not working doesn't necessarily mean the main game won't; they patch the bugs in the latter, but not the former. Happened to me with EU3.
Who: Me! And possibly you!
What: ATOM ZOMBIE SMASHER
When: From Now until roughly 10 Mountain Time
Where: The Internet!
Anyways, I'll be giving away a copy of Atom Zombie Smasher. This game is a fun little diversion, and a steal for 3 bucks, but since people have been generous with me, I figure I can save someone a few bucjs. Now, this game, as you might now, has zombies. What you might not know, is it has some pretty kicking music. This contest, shall combine the two.
I want the ultimate zombie rock band. Be as in depth as you want, but I want, at the very least, the a name, but you can say, give album titles, band member names, etc. Just make zombies up or create an all star band of deceased real life musicians. Use pictures, puns or prose!
On guitar Bub the zombie
On drums Stubbs the zombie
On vocals Zombie Jackson from Thriller
I was using Jamestown and Terraria as my barriers against impulse purchases. The Terraria obstacle was removed earlier in the sale thanks to Psiberian, which left Jamestown to fight the good fight on its own. Not entirely sure why I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. I guess losing the piece of mind that my wallet was relatively safe is a hard thing to overcome. Am I correct in believing that the chances of it showing up during the replay sale(s) are extremely slim?
I have King's Bounty, but on GOG. Sort of tempted to re-buy the whole collection on Steam, so I can get the expansions which aren't on GOG. But it's a bit silly... Worth doing, or is the vanilla game enough?
Also feel odd for being tempted by The Sims 3... could provide some entertainment of a different nature to that which I'm used to, I guess...

Oh, and CPUGEEK is class. I helped him get an out of region game earlier in the week, in exchange for if Killing Floor ever went on sale, and he did toss that my way as well as a bonus Flight Control HD.

A Flock of Walrus is a scholar and a gentleman - thanks for the gift of Terraria
I don't know if it was a recent thing, as I hadn't played it for about a month maybe. But the map was very different in some sections, than I remember. The very last few minutes in particular.
I remember playing Cold Stream when it was beta. Man, there were a ton of sections that I thought "How the heck is anyone supposed to complete this?" And we literally could not finish it, because there were crashes in the last chapter.
holy gebus. i cant seem to get the beat hazard achievement.
I KNOW i have had 2 bosses de-gunned for over a minute in a single song. ( I watched the countdown timer) they may not have been at the same time (sometimes only 1 boss shows up at a time)
am I missing something here? I love this game but it is getting frustrating.
If you have Ultra, just play the boss rush thing and keep two of the air craft looking things alive for a minute.
couldn't be bothered to pick up ultra yet lol.

I last played the Cold Stream map about 2½ weeks ago with some friends, but we died by the crashed helicopter. That was a brutal map, and we were playing on normal. Has it changed a lot?

According to L4D2, it still is in beta. Today was the first time I ever played it, and aside from incapped bodies being stuck in terrain geometry preventing them from being revived I really liked it. The alarm part is rough.

they took out the crashed chopper... which is a shame because that part was kind of awesome.
So you've got a room full of enemies, barricaded in the room, right? What do you do? Knock on the damn door.
When they open it, there will be a basket of puppies and kittens (because everyone likes those, even damned dirty terrorists).
While they are questioning the audacity of someone to bring them a basket of adorable in the middle of a warzone, you bust in through a side wall with some c4 or whatever those shaped charges are! Bang bang bang! Then you pick the tiny animals up, and hug them victoriously.

Yeah, making that mad dash through the woods was pretty fucking awesome.
Are any of the Sims 3 expansion worth picking up or should I just save myself the money and pick up the base game?
Usually the formula is
1st expansion pack is great, a must own
2nd expansion pack is pretty cool, recommended
3rd pack and on are pretty hit or miss. Sometimes you get a greatly expanded game (hot date) or crap that just gets in the way (unleashed and all pets expansions)
Looking at the list, it looks like they got the 'meh' out of the way quick with world adventures because that seems more like "on the side distraction" than any real changes. Ambitions and Late Night seem great. Generations would be worth researching into first.
Pets can go straight to hell
I like World Adventures just because it added Photography, which is actually pretty cool.

ok... Atom Smasher Zombie is REALLY fun once I figured out what I was doing. You kind of have to luck up on what Merc units you get for July for the achievement, but its still a blast.
Also that put me at 16 total, so now I have a full bar on the profile. I wonder if there will be anything for people who get a full bar or get EVERYTHING...
Atom Zombie Smasher is a lot more fun if you use the included modifiers. Clearing out a 4 star zombie zone while being forced to have the useless helicopter (since there's no civvies to rescue) is a huge pain.
After my lastcontest, I decided to try something bigger and better (???). I'm working on a series of (semi-) PA and Steam related puzzles and, being that I've never really done anything like this, it could be end up being a pretty difficult challenge (though i guess it could also turn out be an easier challenge than I think.) The problem is, I can't really afford much of a prize. If I had the $ I'd love to give away the Valve pack, but the most I can drop is probably $5.
So, I was wondering if their are any classy gents or ladies who would want to contribute some prizes (small or big) to the Sayonara Summer Camp Scavenger Hunt?
If so, send me a PM and I'll give you more details.
Finally heard back from Steam regarding my gifting troubles. My account is theoretically straightened out and is capable of gifting again. A little late considering the DX dailies are over, but at least I don't have to worry about this anymore (for now).

My problem with gifting was solved when I used the steam website over the actual client. Go figure.

That didn't help my issues. But my persistance won
This thread moves pretty fast come sale time, I like it.
I've been pretty good with the sales so far, spent about $30 total, and $15 of that (or was it $10?) was just getting a copy of BC2 on Steam cause I stupidly bought it retail when it came out.

I've ended up in quite the opposite situation. I've been trying to avoid impulse buying the big-budget titles, since the download size and time commitment required to play those games means that they get stuck in the bottom of my backlog. Jamestown is less than 100MB, and while there's a lot less content than other 5 dollar games, odds are, whenever I get bored, I'd rather replay it than wait for a 5GB+ download
I did break down and buy Call of Pyripat for 3.74, due to me owning a copy of STALKER which I haven't even touched yet. Still better than paying 22.50 for GTA IV+Episodes in last summer's steam sale, which I didn't get more than 10 minutes due to me not being able to sign into GFWL
Came back to my computer to find that Emruggs (who may go by a different handle here, I confess I can't remember) had gifted my Jamestown! This gift may a little wasted on a person who can't even competently play 1942 or Tyrian, but from what I've seen I love the style of this little game so I will be charmed and amused as I die at 7-second intervals!
I know nothing about Batman or L4D, I have no idea what to choose. I normally wouldn't buy them on my own, but its going to be a gift which means I can get something outside of my normal comfort zone. I don't have any games with online vs/co-op, so I'm leaning towards L4D.
Thoughts?
mere_immortal, who has previously gifted me Hoard so I can get another ticket, has generously gifted me Zombie Atom Smasher as well! He is one Classy fellow. Three cheers! Which also means I no longer need Zombie Atom Smasher from corpekata's contest.

What kind of games do you normally play?
Batman has less replay value, third-person melee combat. Also, he's Batman.
LFD is a fast paced, multiplayer shooter with crazy zombies.
Both are really fun.
Also TF2 is free now, go get it.

I feel that it is better. Certainly still a lot of fun with friends, less so by yourself.

It is both better and worse
Characters are worse
Atmosphere is worse
Map designs are better
Variety is better
Challenge is better
Weapons are better (minus a nerfed auto shotty)
Modes are better
Gore is better

You can filter servers by difficulty. I made that mistake, my first time playing. Dying was something, that happened a lot.

I fear King's Bounty must wait. Are there other Drakensang games available on the US Steam store? Only one here in the UK.
