People not playing a non-stealth/high chaos run at some point are missing out on an almost completely different experience, including just how awesome the combat in the game is when you have all your lethal gadgets and swordplay and the freedom/desire to use them.
Also, the subtle character differences, and the final level, which has an amazing high chaos atmosphere. This really is a game worth playing at least twice.
And I'm going to speculate that is the Dishonored equivalent to 5th Freedom Mode, where I can get shooty and stabby. Which is good because it was the first time I had to use a gun. I still don't know how to use traps yet, I haven't had to use one.
As a point, killing those still counts for chaos purposes.
The only things in the game that don't are those fucking clam things. Which was a mercy from the developer because why the fuck do those things exist except to piss you off?

Goddammit. Why, god, why?
They're fucking plague infested zombies. It should increase Chaos if I don't kill them. Space Marine logic.
Slightly less of a spoiler (contains information in the first 15 minutes of the game):
The Empress says that she doesn't want Weepers being killed or anything, people with the plague are still people and there is still hope for them. Whether you think she's unjustifiably optimistic or not, the game agrees with her. Once you start killing Weepers, what's next? Killing anyone infected? Killing people who have had contact with the infected? Etc.
Really? Because far as I remember pretty much anything that's mentioned of that subject (some slander from Pendleton and a few written notes) points towards it being true.

Say, when it came to neck stabbing, were any of the guards in the game female? You had a few lady zombies in the end but I can't remember if you ever killed women in the game or was it 100% male targets.
there was one female assassination target and a lot of female civilians if you went for a stabbity stab stab playthrough.
Yeah, but none of the women are armed. I imagine they don't even try to defend themselves; they run away from crazy Corvo.
Sometimes they stumble across you when you're trying to be sneaky. And with no non-lethal melee attack, a few have gotten stabbed to prevent alerts.
Other times I've given up on stealth after taking out guards went loud and just wandered around the maids looting the place. They'd cower in place as I completely ignored them for 5 minutes looking for loose change and canned eel snacks. I surmise they may have been afraid I'd make even more of a mess for them to deal with than the 6 partially burned bodies lying around.

Freezing is a normal response to abject terror dude.

They don't exactly freeze. They won't move on their own but if you walk into them they bowl over and get right back up in their new location and root themselves again. So they can and do move, just not without you playing human Slinky. I actually do like that since it means they won't block your path but it makes for a really weird sight.
Not sure if it's that particular one but I know one of those changes based on whether you are high or low chaos. The high chaos one does not hit the feels.

Okay yeah that is weird. If the object of your terror actually touches you'd expect most people who were freezing temporarily to freak out and switch straight to flight. If they were completely shut down out of terror they'd just stay on the ground. Getting up again before refreezing is definitely odd behavior.

Is it just me or can Knife of Dunwall not be purchased despite coming out tonight?
Not just you, oddly it's not actually listed under the DLC section of the Dishonored store page yet.
I have it from pre-ordered from GMG, no key as of yet though.
Edit: Just got my key.
If you turn on objective markers and walk towards the arrow or whatever you can beat the game pretty fast I assume.
Even with objective markers it's pretty long. I did a mostly assassin run (love that perk that turns killed mooks to ash), and it still took me 15 hours or more. There's so much to find, listen, read, it's amazing.

Man, who is the lying liar who said this game is short? This is taking me a while. What did they do, a Call of Duty run?
I am doing a no kills, ghost and mostly flesh and steel run so not bothering with upgrades. I have found you can get through the game surprisingly fast if you don't give a shit about anything outside of objectives. But then again this is also my third playthrough so......

Ah but when I said "walk towards the arrow or whatever" I meant "do that and nothing else." If you want to ignore most of the game, it lets you - unlock most games these days it doesn't force you to sit through 100 cutscenes worth of story. The short breaks at the pub between missions are all it forces on you and even those you can skip through pretty fast. I love how the game is all about letting you discover things yourself by poking around and exploring.
Well, DLC downloading. I assume it became available about 25 minutes ago, but I just finished up my games of Smite and decided to check. Thought maybe it was supposed to be midnight Pacific again...
Honestly I wish that in second playthroughs you could just flat out skip the pub sections.
It's probably the main barrier to me doing another playthrou

Decided to go ahead and pick up the DLC since I was really impressed with the game and want it to do well. Looking forward to settling in and playing it soon.

I was blotchy from tears of laughter from that part.

I mean the mechanics you use in a balls out murder everything playthough are completely different from a no kills playthrough.

The Empress provides.
Finish the game and you will reconsider that statement.

Also the secret room behind the fireplace in the castle would suggest otherwise.
