i'm pretty sure the superbox is 10 and Terran Conflict is 5
edit - playing X1 and X2 and the original X3 makes no god damned sense anymore at this point though
I keep seeing this, but could someone please explain why? I'm completely unfamiliar with the series and the Wikipedia entry on the game isn't terribly helpful in addressing this. Is all of the content (plots, missions, ships, etc) from previous games in TC, or just the mechanics, or...?

Hah, if you can connect to a normal online game with actual people, you'll have the the achievement within minutes. It took longer to install then to actually get my ticket.
And damn that game is fun. Obviously only in short bursts, but it's a nice game none the less.

they have not aged well, are hard to control, aren't really fun anymore, are missing a ton of features and are hugely hugely hugely complicated
the x games always build on top of each other, x3 tc is still hugely complicated, it would be disastrous to play the old games at this point when you can get the same experience with a much better graphics engine with the ability to do way more
the "story" progresses through the games but it's not like you are missing some sort of epic campaign, it's not that kind of game.

I was hoping more of my games from my wishlist would go on sale as a daily deal, but then again it's just as well they didn't
So, with just $20 left in my steam wallet, I'm trying to decide which game(s) to get:
Morrowind
Oblivion
Drakensang
Drakensang the River of Time
Drakensang 2: Phileasson's Secret
Neverwinter Nights 2
Avencast
Arx Fatalis
Any of these come up on sale fairly often? Which am I more likely to not find on sale, cause those would be the ones I want to get now.

Thanks for the explanation. You popped that up before I could edit my original post, but I definitely appreciate the deeper breakdown. Good to know I can safely skip everything else without missing anything and understand why.
Ok so I gave in on Universe Sandbox this morning before the deals clicked over. I fucking CALLED Portal 2 going on sale today and it diiid. And now I want Terraria as well, but I'll probably have to pass on that due to my impulse Universe-related spending.
So I think I'm going to pick up Portal 2 so I can map for it sometime tonight. I've already played through it, but I reeaally want to mess with doing some level work with it.
X3 is nothing like freelancer. (in that freelancer is a super fun game and x3 will literally destroy you)
also the X3 games don't really have much of a .... campaign. if I recall x1 and X2 didn't even have a campaign at all.
Basically Terran Conflict is a stand alone "expansion" that was built on top of Reunion. It has most (if not all) of reunion in it with a bazilion new features and missions added on
So if I just wanted to explore all 7 gigs of spacey space, maybe snap a few wallpaper pics, would I be robbing myself of much if I just cheated to infinite moneys?
I couldn't resist such a low price on the Terraria 4 Pack, and still have 2 copies left, so it's time for

Post a picture/video/whatever of the Most Awesome House in the world. I don't mean like FLW's Fallingwater, I want to see houses that are unique. Like an abandoned missile silo turned into a mansion or something (I've actually seen that one, so that's out, but there's an example for you).
Alternatively, if you don't know any super awesome unique houses, describe your super awesome unique house that you would build if you became rich beyond your wildest imaginings.
Whichever 2 entries I like best get Terraria. Make sure to add me to steam friends if you enter, and tell me your steam name in your entry if it's different from your forum name. Steam sig is below.
I think......I'll get Dead Space 2. Cheaper, and the multi is more involved. I'm sure Portal 2 will be at least 5 bucks cheaper on the daily sale for Christmas. I wish I could make myself be irresponsible and get both. I already got Retribution, Dragon Age Ultimate, War for Cybertron, and SS Conviction. Plus I haven't touched Warband, Just Cause 2, Civ IV or Colonization from previous sales. =\ Most of my backlog is strategy, so I figure some more mindless explosions from Dead Space 2 will balance it out. Definitely not getting the X Superbox for that reason. I guess I could just wait till winter and hope that DS2 is on sale again....
I'm mostly just trying to decide if I want to bother with Dead Space 1 for 5 dollars more. Any thoughts on the matter?
I have played both. As the guy above says DS1 is spookier. The environments aren't as varied but I thought it had a better sense of dread to it. DS2 has all sorts of different looking places that you are going to but its more of an action game, or so it seems. The story in DS1 is also pretty good with DS2 picking up right after that one ended (minus a few movies in between that you can rent if you want)
Play DS1 first because the mechanics were tweaked in 2 to be smoother that the first so you wont know what you are missing if you don't start with the second.
Is Metro 2033 worth $13 or should I hold off until the next sale? I only ask because I know I'll be getting DoW 2 gold and GTA IV complete (if it goes back on sale) at the very least tomorrow.
I'm now even more amused that the "guide NPC" in Terraria not only isn't very helpful but actively tries to get you killed.
"Oh hey bro, it's stuffy in your little wooden zombie defense hovel, let me open this door and let some of that refreshing night air in. Oh hey, zombies. Who'd have thunk it? Oh, I almost forgot, you should stay indoors at night since there are zombies outside."

Metro 2033 is fun, so long as you don't expect STALKER. But it has a real problem with its core mechanics. It's possible to end up stuck in the game without enough air filters to progress through no fault of your own, due to the way it handles picking them up. Indeed, the more careful you are not to spend too much time outside and to buy every filter you can, the more likely you are to encounter this failure.

Yeah. Mods were clear about it, and I'd rather not get contests/giveaways banned because of it. Posting the winners entry I'm sure would be ok, but encouraging people to spam the thread with pictures and videos isn't.
Edit: And you posted right before I did. Hah. Either way, I'll throw your contest in the OP shortly.

The Dead Space games are excellent and everyone should check them out. I seem to recall that the first one runs kind of crummy on PC until you disable vsync. I highly suggest playing through DS1 first since there are a lot of references to it in the second one. It's not mandatory, but it's helpful in evoking a certain atmosphere as well as messing with you during one particular chapter.
edit: Oh god, I also forgot that DS2 has a moment where I was cringing the whole time. You're forced to do something that....I won't say any more.

It might not use Steamworks, but Metro 2033 can be registered on Steam.

Yeah. Think Minecraft as a 2D sidescroller with something even remotely resembling objectives, and you have Terraria.
Also, hell yeah! Today's dailies fucking suck! I am safe for once.

Also anyone who bought Universe Sandbox should really really check out Space Engine. It will completely destroy your computer.
