I just got 25 assorted infantry stands, and 10 bike stands for Epic Orks. Looking over all this it seems like a bitch to paint, but I am filled with the need to buy hundreds of little trukk's, wagons, and Stompa's.

I didn't realize how downright irritating it was going to be to get Carnifex arms that join in the middle to magnetize properly. I want to run a Devourer/Stranglethorn Cannon Carnifex against my friends footdar, and I just can't get the magnets at the right angle. I think I'll need some plasticard to build it back up.
Either that, or get creative with green stuff tonight. I suppose it might just be easier to 'extend' the tube that connects them.
Frow, I have the baneblade cannon bit. Are any other parts on there from the baneblade kit?
There's also the external fuel tank. That big barrel half makes the perfect "hip joint" to connect legs and torso.
Ideally, if I could find more people who converted Riflemen/Psyflemen Dreads out of the Aegis Defence Line kit, I'd have more than enough of the "box" the quad autocannons should have been built upon to make millions of these things.
The same kind of bitz from the Imperial Bastion laser would work too. Maybe I'll have to look for that Imperial Strongpoint bundle at a huge discount...

Not just for the four small hydraulic bitz which attach the chest to the hips, but because it take three of the blade supports to make both arms and half the legs. It's a common bit, but I go through a lot of them... A small price to pay for making a model which actually looks like it could move under its own power.
Does anyone have Land Raider Redeemer flame cannons they're not using? That could be an alternate gun-arm in place of the Basilisk cannon.

Frow, do you have any closer pics of your dreads? I saw the hood(?) on them in the group shots and it piqued my curiosity.
The hoods are merely Green Stuff over techy looking bitz off of the Apocalypse Command Vehicle sprue. I can take closer photos when I get home from work tonight.

So last night I played a 1k game with Nax. BA vs Nilla SM
Me:
JP Libby w/ Rage and Shield (goes with 1 melta squad)
2x JP priests with infernus pistols (1 goes with melta, one with flamer squads)
3x ASM w/ PFists (2 have 2x melta, 1 has 2x flamers)
Him:
Chapter Master w/ power weapon/iron halo (went with combat squadded flamer rhino)
Tac squad w/ flamer and missile and Rhino
Tac squad w/ melta and multi melta and HB razorback (melta combat squad in metal box)
5x scouts w/ land speeder storm
heavy bolter attack bike
dakka pred
Thunderfire Cannon
Dawn of War - Capture and Control
He deployed across the entire flank with flamer rhino near ruins (his objective), the thunderfire in those ruins and the missile 5 man in the ruins. Dakka pred, MM squad, razorback, storm were on the other flank. Also attack bike was near ruins.
My turn my entire army made their reserve rolls. 1 flamer and 1 melta landed by the ruins (on the other side for cover saves), but my 3rd squad scattered 5'' towards the table (as I was very aggressive with this placement) and had a DS mishap, thankfully I rolled a 5 and back into reserve they went.
I tried to melta the attack bike, but he made his 3+ turboboost saves, but flamers and pistols killed 2 marines from the missile squad (who prompty failed LD test and was escorted off the board a turn later). Being an idiot, I should have ran to scatter a bit, because next turn, his chapter master dropped an orbital barrage on my melta squad without scattering and doing 9 S10 AP2 wounds. So at the end, I had my priest and Pfist alive, who then failed LD and were pinned. Nothing else really happened. His bike charged my flamer squad and died doing nothing in return.
I rolled reserves and my other squad came in. DSed them in the same location and was on target. My pinned squad failed LD due to 25% cas and ran away (becoming unpinned) and then regrouping, letting me run forward to give my other squads the 6'' bubble. My flamer squad jumped into the ruins to setup a multi assault on the thunderfire and the rhino (rolling 1s for my 2 flamers and Pfist, nothing else). Thankfully, libby was there and they still had FC from bubble. DSed melta squad shot at rhino to get at the gubbin inside, but immob'd and stunned it. flamer squad multi assaulted, killing the thunderfire and shaking the rhino.
His turn he got out of the rhino and charged into my newly dropped squad. To wrap things up, combat ended there with a couple less ASM and in the end he drove over a razorback to contest his objective (his scouts taking mine on turn 4 or 5). I killed in and the squad inside and we pulled a draw at the end of turn 6.
Overall, really fun game and I realized I need to remember about krak grenades and learn better priest placement. Also to be cognizant of enemy pie plates so I can run or DS into cover and survive the initial barrage.
Now the question on how to expand to 1250 - adding a squad of TH/SS (3x TH, 2x LC) termis or a squad of sang guard (1 Pfist, 2 infernus pistols).

Also I have some pretty crippling perfectionism and seeing the amazing paint jobs in the painting thread has utterly crushed my desire to paint but I BLAME YOU. Your subtitles were too exquisite and compelling.

Space Marine™ made me start a new Space Marine™ army after bitching about price gouges all summer. Good thing is I sold all my Flames of War, Dystopian Wars, and Firestorm Armada to pay for it.
So as soon as i pack up all my painting/minis to move into my new house I get the painting itch HUGE. I want to finish my red baron valkyrie and assemble/paint this stormraven. I decided I'm still gonna go with space wolves colors on it so whatever.
I almost was going to paint it like southwest airlines colors but i cringe on spending like $65 on a joke vehicle.
I just want to paint Ork's. I have just the LRC left for my Templars since I managed to force myself to paint this last week.
@Dr_Keenbean this is the truth. I'm not the worst painter, but I'm certainly not the best, and my Templars look like ass shoved up another ass. Certainly discouraged painting after posting some stuff and then some one else posting a WiP that puts my final work to shame.
I've been trying to keep myself from spending money on even more Ork's, since I have it in my head that I need to buy 100 AoBR Boyz soon before 6th ed (even though I know that's like a year away) and the deal will vanish. Last thing anyone needs is a mountain of dudes that huge to paint.
@Spherick you have almost exactly half of my 2k BA list there, few wargear swaps different. The rest of my army is 3 dev squads, a tac squad, and an HQ chaplan. Somtimes drop a priest and the chaplan for an HG squad.
Actually got a game with the local Blood Ravens play last weekend with that list. I will write it up when I get a break from work.

Anon, I think you're being overly hard. Your painting doesn't suck, you just have one of the hardest armies to paint. To be honest, I'd rather paint imp fists which are all yellow, than a black templars army, because that shit is ridic.
Thanks Altmann. I'm hoping to finish the LRC by this weekend, and I'll do an expose post in the art thread that will have the whole army.
Then, to assemble the horde! I'm hoping I can buckle down and do these guys right. Drill out all the guns, paint every boy to awesome quality...but I started with that idea on the Templars too...

Boy, I tell ya, when GW drops a model, the entire world drops that model. I'm trying to find a pic of the old beret stormtrooper sergeant holding a power sword and bolt or laspistol. I was hoping someone around here might have an old one they don't need. However, it seems that I can't find one at all. I can locate the sergeant holding two bolt pistols, but not the one with power sword.

I can only find this image online and GW doesn't even sell them anymore. That sucks. When I was collecting before, they would at least cast metal OOP figures and ship them to you for a premium. This is the sgt with laspistol and bolt pistol:

The best part about sticking green stuff on as trim and shit is that if it goes wrong you can just wait for it to set then peel it off. There's no need to actually touch the surface finish of the underlying model at all.
Working with GS is remarkably easy. All it takes is patience.
I've done some work with it and can recommend a few things that no one really told me:
Get some latex (or whatever if you're allergic) gloves and wear them when you work with any modeling putty. It will remove the chance that you get finger prints in the putty and your fingers won't stick to it and ruin hard work.
Buy some sculpting tools. Gale Force 9 makes a great set for cheap, you'll need some pokey, cutty, and slicey tools to get a lot of the results you'll need. Toothpicks, fingers, bits of other objects can work in a pinch, but nothing makes texture as well as a nice formed pick or tool. Keep everything wet. Keep the putty wet, keep your fingers (gloves!) wet, keep your tools wet. Water slows the curing process of GS, and keeps it soft so you can cut or sculpt in what you need. It also keeps it soft enough to smooth two pieces together without lines. I don't mean pour a glass of water on it, just dip your fingers in some water (hell paint water works just fine) and rub it on the GS, or dip your tool. A few drops will work just fine.
Well yeah, but that doesn't really account for artistic talent.

Seriously though, fur is actually one of the easiest things to sculpt; just cover the area to get the fur in soft GS, let it harden a bit (go make a cup of coffee) then stab it randomly with a pointed tool, like a toothpick. You can see how it's done if you look closely at your existing Valhallans.
