Banes obviously being ridiculously cost effective so I barely had enough money to remake my army before he hit me again.

Forcefields counter Banelings pretty hard, just have to make sure you get good ones. If you don't get good ones split your units as much as you can in the split second before the banes hit.

a couple stalkers will stop the banes as I think its like 7-8 banes to kill a stalker (armored). The problem with this is that you have to avoid clumping the stalkers, which leaves you open to surrounds from the flock of slings that he's got....

That's why FFs are the real counter. And really that comes down to what, I personally, dislike most about the Protoss race--good FFs are crucial to PvZ and to a lesser extent PvT. That doesn't make it imbalanced, but there is a definite grain of truth in Sylem's complaining about those matchups. It's quite possible to lose in an instant simply because you didn't get good FFs.

Of course, the solution, rather than complaining about it on the forums, is to practice your forcefield placement. Or switch races if you really, really hate FFs.

    Ok here's the baneling game:

And for added lulz a game where I got yet again wrecked by an early ghost push within a formidable army a few days ago :

you can lose as terran by being unsieged for a second, or even bad siege spreading

you can lose as zerg by badly placed banelings or mutas getting caught

there's little to no room for error in the game no matter which race you play. unless you have a specific distaste for force fields changing won't help you.

Immortals laugh at banelings as well but then they get eaten alive by speedlings. I've actually used Hallucinated for this before.

Yeah, I'm not saying there is nothing like it for the other races, but FFs are a very specific kind of micro and I can understand disliking them. I'm kind of on the fence about them myself. Good ones are really satisfying, but losing because of bad ones is also extremely frustrating.

    for spaffy:

    - after your first push in the pvz, the zerg double expands to the gold and the far natural while making over 30 drones and teching. scout scout scout, free hatcheries!

    - by the first push you're behind the zerg in upgrades, which as someone who's played both sides of the matchup is really frightening for the toss. the more cost-efficient the zerg army gets, assuming equal or likely superior number of bases for the zerg, the more he'll take away from you in army trades and the farther behind you'll get until eventually you just lose.

    - did you know he was still going banelings by the time you went to his gold? I was going to ask why you were still on the gateway mix, but if you aren't scouting it's a pretty simple answer to just remind you to scout more. in general I'd advise you to be further down the robo or templar tech trees by 19 mins in, because zerg t2 steamrolls gateway really efficiently without colossi/ht/huge numbers of blink stalkers.

    - rofl he has almost 80 banes. you have to have colossi/ht, there's no other answer for that and if you had it he'd lose miserably.

posted before I got to the best part of the replay..."ops exploded my banes on accident" burrow and wait. he hit x and got like 5 stalkers with 20 banes, should have just unburrowed and chased you down.

Pros, I understand due to their inhuman abilities.

But Seguer, you feedbacked 3-4 ghosts almost instantly and I was like "no wai he has that accuracy"

nothing personal, just, that level of accuracy, when the ghosts are inside a MMM ball, sounds crazy

    Seguer has top 3 control.

You can't really click on a unit in the minimap though, so if there are both medivacs and ghosts in the army composition, the feedback will target the closest units in succession?

When the hell did I do this?

You need to lead your defenses with your infestors.

If his marine control / placement slips up, they all die for free.

You'll either win decisively or force him to very slowly creep his tanks out ahead of everything else.

Keep in mind that fungal prevents unsieged tanks from sieging and look for a good flank with your lings if you see an opportunity.

Also keep your army out in the open and near the entrance to his base as much possible so that he has to slowly, carefully fight for every inch of ground en route to threatening your econ. Bad, bad scene if a terran just walks up to your base's entrance and sets up shop.

I made a game! Hotline Maui. Requires mouse and keyboard.

alright I made it to level 16 of the marine micro thing. that's gonna be good enough.

it's more that in the moment I just blank, and if you do patrol micro and you're too close to the blings the marines just stop and shoot all clumped. mouse speed is less the problem than brain speed

    Woo got into silver

3-4 for new season, and since I basically gave one of them to someone who was fucking terrible (a toss who begged me repeatedly not to 6 pool, lost 3 obs by flying over the same spore colony, and didn't build a forward pylon) I'm pretty okay with that.

This might be super America centric or something (although I guess common ignorance of each other's cultures is kind of what I'm trying to illustrate), and I am certainly willing to eat humble pie in the event that you know this answer, but do you know what the final battle of the Revolutionary War was? I pick that one because theoretically the American Revolution is kind of a big deal globally and is something important in American history (I do understand the French Revolution is more important on a global scale).

I guess other questions would be: what event brought us into World War 1? World War 2? Turning point of the American Civil War?

I don't honestly expect you to know all those answers, but that's kind of the point. We're all kind of ignorant of the things that other cultures hold dear.

You're better off learning to target siege tanks than split marines. It looks fancy when you take your clump of marines, stim them through your tank line and split them like a pro behind, but all that does is make more tank shots to kill the banelings and while you're splitting and no shooting the mutas and lings are killing your tanks. With better tank targeting micro on the clumped banelings your marines can shoot for longer before having to run.

I know that the revolution is probably the biggest thing in America's own history. I don't know all the fine details of it but i don't know all the fine details of Gallipoli, either. I just don't see how you could actually know what Gallipoli is yet not know its significance to Australia given that it wasn't actually a US-involved battle.

I think it also helps to put it into perspective that it was a war we reluctantly entered at the tail end. I don't think the war as a whole is of much interest to American history specifically. Our shared knowledge of WWII is probably much better since it was an event that really shaped American cultural identity in the decades to come.
