Srsly. You know what has also existed for ages? Map vote plugins that use 5-9 instead of 1-5, you know so it doesn't screw you over in the middle of combat. That would be too sensible though I guess.

Fuck people not choosing random and fuck that ranking plugin. It is poping up with information so often the text chat is buried in a pile of "points".
There's a tendency for 'random' to keep putting the same people on the same teams map after map because they're loading in much the same order. I put random in quotes because, afaik, it assigns people to the team with the fewest players, and putting people on BLU first when the teams are tied in players.
Pretty much. Also people can/will still stack by just waiting until the team they want to join has the fewest players. It's probably easier to use a mod that simply performs a full team scramble at the start of the map/end of waiting for players.
What would be even better is if more people would just man the fuck up and vote scramble when the teams are obviously imbalanced, yes that includes you on the steam rolling team. It's not like there's any fun to be had in a game that presents no challenge whatsoever.

One of the servers I play on will automatically make you vote again if you press one of the keys too soon after it displays or if you just did something like jump shortly after it came up.
It also lets you change your vote with "!revote".
Rollers are red, chargers are blue....omae wa mou shindeiru
I'm still amazed servers hold onto voting plugins and the like when there's one in game that doesn't use the number keys to vote.
Sadly there's no way yet to actually have a mod hook into the core voting system, otherwise I'd be in like Flynn for that. Vastly prefer having population-controlled votes and map groups.
Fairly sure there's a way to skip 1-3, though. Lemme dig. Will look into fixing the scrambles too.

The official Valve map vote system is worse though, as it pops up a vote window that is larger, opague, makes a sound when people vote, and doesn't go away after you've voted. It also lacks an equivalent to the 'nominate' chat command, as far as I know.
I'd rather accidentally vote when in the middle of fighting someone, and !revote later if I have time, than be stuck with a distracting dialogue in the same situation.
On a side note, how do you guys want scrambles to go? Looking at the mod, they can just be random (with a few immunity, like medics who have charges or engineers with buildings up), or scramble by player score, player score per minute, or by player K/D ratios.
EDIT: Oh, hey, that might be handy. Some anti-stacking options like one that makes it so you can't switch to Spectator to stack teams.

Heavies are bullshit, but twelve people on the first point of Steel should be able to deal with a Heavy+Kritz Medic.
Honestly, I'd blame it more on F2Players. I heard missed sniper shots almost constantly, it was pretty funny to think that someone out there is as bad at sniping as I am.
In the unlikely situation I play Sniper, I just go with the Sleeper because I am literally the worst Sniper and at least the Jarate effect might help someone else finish them off.

Try K/D with a twist?
Top 2 to one side, next three to the other side, next 2 to the first side, etc.
Got a Strange Revolver and a Strange Backburner now. Would have loved a Strange Degreaser if they existed, but there is no way in hell I'd use the regular flamethrower (strange or otherwise) over the Degreaser.
I guess I have an excuse to use the badburner now.

Edit: My reasoning is this, if you can't kill a heavy with the kit you have as a demo or soldier, then I really don't what to tell you. It's not that difficult.
If you choose to bitch about it endlessly and roll on with 4 soldiers, 4 demos, a few spies and snipers, and no heavys and medics, well then you can cry some more.
I almost always play Spy, undoubtly the toughest class to play. I don't bitch about Pyros and they instantly kill spies ALL THE TIME.

Oh well when you put it that way you totally sound like less of a dick.

I don't bitch about spys and they instantly kill every class all the time (literally)
:P
Also heavies are pretty easy to kill, yet I am constantly given front row seats to people throwing their useless bodies in front of their minigun. I just don't get it. Its like when I have 3 soldiers on my team, and find myself staring at the sentry gun that has been mowing them down for the past 5 minutes. Like, staring at it because it is out of range. I shouldn't have to tell the soldiers to shoot that gun, just like I shouldn't have to tell people to not jump in front of a heavy yet...
Maybe its because I haven't played on the PA servers in awhile (tend to get bad ping)
Topic for discussion: would reducing all Miniguns' base ammo to 100 help alleviate the problem with Heavies?
The thing is, most of the buffs they've gotten over time have made the class feel more responsive-- the big three being his base footspeed increase, the spinup time reduction, and the narrowed cone of fire. Not that it was unworkable before, but unless the stars aligned playing the Heavy could sometimes feel like you were just a big target that couldn't fight back because by the time your gun was ready, everyone was out of range. So you stopped spinning, waddled forward a bit, tried to spin up again, and then whoops, everyone's out of range again. Then you die and get to spend a bonus fifteen seconds on every respawn relative to everyone else because you're so damn slow. So, overall, I think the changes were good for making the Heavy fun to play, but at the cost of throwing the game's balance out of whack. I think dropping minigun ammo to 100 would really put pressure on him to conserve ammunition without necessarily making him helpless at range. It would also be something of a parallel buff to the shotguns, because a Heavy with a Sandvich for his secondary who blows all his ammo is SOL.
My favorite musical instrument is the air-raid siren.

I would've taunted but, you know.

so if it's rolls on a long bad map
i'd rather have it roll

Hasn't this been fixed for a long time?
I'd like a strange shotgun
or, I dunno, something shiny

Was down when I got back from work. Looks like one of the new maps had a crashing bug. Removed it for now, but the server's back up.

Preferably while playing Demo or Soldier.
Whenever anyone starts bitching about Heavies while playing Soldier or Demo, I switch to Heavy.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's exactly what we don't like about them.
