I just realized that I am showing a distinct lack of class for not recognizing SubtleTie as a fine upstanding gent of high birth. He gifted me the PA double pack during the sale and I did not properly say thank you.
Wow, this blows. Dead Space 2 on Steam has a problem, caused by a patch released by EA then pulled for all versions but Steam (where you apparently can't downgrade). It unlocks all the DLC ever released for the game on console.
Sounds great, right? Free stuff! But that's the problem: it's free in-game. They didn't take the time to add costs to the new gear. You can get a huge number of free weapons for zero credits right from the start, from the very first store. There's no longer any progression or sense of accomplishment for getting items.

Conspiracy theory time: could that have been potentially deliberate on EA's part to give them another excuse to not sell via Steam and direct customers to Origin?

Oh, that's actually been acknowledged as a bug? Interesting.

This doesn't strike me as being all that different from the badass level 5 or 6 (or whatever top level was) suit that was available in DS1 when I got it. I just didn't use the suit, might've put it on once I had another top tier suit available so I wasn't ruining anything.
But thanks for the heads up. Probably won't bother using them on my first run through to have a 'purer' experience (to me, to head off that debate), but if I want to fire up a game and wreck shit, I'll have that option too.

Given that the "fix" is to download Origin and put in your Steam code to play their version, which is still 1.0.0.0, I dunno. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but it does stink a bit. To be fair to EA, they DID release the patch Steam has on their forums for retail/Origin... they just removed it promptly.
After learning that the only way to patch the Witcher 2 was to redownload a 9gb file with each minor change, I'm ready to believe that the Steam patch system could be partly responsible.
@SteevL: I guess I should be careful calling it a "bug." But they don't use the patch they gave Steam on the version of the game their own store distributes, soooo call it what you will.
I wonder if this is, in some small way, tied to the weirdness over Crysis 2 getting pulled over EA and Valve's policy towards DLC?
EDIT: Wow, and because you have access to them, it makes ammo for them drop. So even if you don't choose to take them, and try to play normally, you're screwed, because the game will turn ammo drops into things you can't use.
Why can't work be over? It doesn't look like Dance with Dragons was delivered, so I have plenty of time to play CStW/BoDVII... if I only could get home.
Now, to finally install Win7 on my macbook so I can actually play these buggers. Of all the things in the world to finally tip me over into bootcamp, this is the straw that broke the camels back.
Edit: I'm not complaining, I needed to convince myself to get this going. Not having Win7 on my machine is holding me back professionally as well.

It's number 2. Not sure if it will beat Dungeons of Dredmor, though.
If you want the Zeboyd games, PM to me a sob story about how Slash and Rainbow releasing BoDVII-CStW right after the Steam sale has left you unable to help get those games to #1. I'll give out 2 or maybe 3 copies.

From what I've heard, the top sales charts on Steam are based on revenue.
That's stupid.
It keeps the race to the bottom as far as price goes. Valve doesn't want to have everyone forced to go $1 or free like the iPhone or indie games on the XBOX.

I just played Dungeons of Dredmor for a bit. Another game with a good sense of humour, but I cannot figure out for the life of me what the Archaeology skills do. :?

bug or not, I'm glad. I need all the help I can get in the game
I now spend more time keeping up to date with this thread than I do playing games. In other news, the sheer weight of love for CStW/BoDVII has made me make a purchase without knowing anything about the actual game. Peer pressure >.<

Yeah, I was thinking the same way. If I were Valve, I'd wanted to maximize my revenue, and I'd rank games by revenue.
I'd like to see a ranking of games based on total number of hours logged. This would be meaningful for multiplayer games primarily. I'm not sure if I care about # of copies sold in any relevant way... maybe for a multiplayer game to make sure there's a chance that others will play it, but #hours logged is more helpful in that case.
I'm stoked that it's high on the list. Always great to see friends (even if they are anonymous Internet friends that I couldn't pick out of a crowd) living their dream and making money at it. Hopefully good exposure on Steam will let you guys focus on game development (assuming that's what you'd like to do) full time.
Stryker43 apparently used his freeze ray & got me the CSTW/BOD pack before I could buy it for myself! Thanks muchly! I need two of me now - one to play those games while the other keeps playing Terraria.

Alright, I guess I can give these Zeboyd losers some more money.

It started here then Slash joined in, eventually taking over. Then it got C&D'd. Then he started making his own games.

So second best at making piles of cash. Congrats on the early success!
edit: There it goes. #2.
And just enough left in the Steam wallet to bestow it on a couple friends who otherwise wouldn't play it, ohoho.
I think I should buy some extra copies so I can suggest it to people, wait for them to question me at all, and then throw the games at them.

I've heard this as well, but assume it can't be overall, so is it based on a smaller timeframe? The last 24 hours? The last hour?
