Yeah, zeal is a great item. Every ranged carry should get one, they're cheap and movespeed is boss (on top of the crit)
I duo'd with Melkster last night and it was fine. That said, TF wasn't banned and enemy first picked mordekaiser. One would think this wouldn't happen at 1300's, but it did.
So I just 2nd picked TF for melk and I took Sivir and then it was gg. Our team played well too though. Team was TF, Nocturne, Poppy, Leona, Sivir.
We were literally team ultimate tower dive
Not sure why a captain wouldn't pick Mordekaiser? He is a dominating laner who should be able to crush TF in a lane. I sometimes leave TF unbanned so that when the enemy team picks him I can pick a strong counter to lane against him.
edit: Preferably someone who can also crush a tower while he goes to gank.
Not saying that Mordekaiser is a bad pick, but I think TF brings more utility to a team. Also, I ended up laning 2v1 as Sivir against a Mord + Soraka lane. Mord over pushed but didn't do major damage to my turret and we multi ganked him with nocturne and TF.
I think enemy team was Soraka, Morde, Annie, Corki, Jax. No jungle. They laned Soraka Mord, Annie mid, Corki + Jax bottom.
I was 2v1 as Sivir against Mord + Soraka and won the lane because I didn't die (hahaha). Also since mord is a natural pusher I was able to farm with ricochet like a boss. And as I mentioned we got at least 2 ganks on mord during lane phase.
Edit: Basically I'm saying 2 things. First I think Mord is good, but I wouldn't first pick him if TF wasn't banned (and I had someone that can play TF), and second is that they enemy chose their lanes poorly.

Had the weirdest game. Playing with a level 19 friend of mine (i'm 24) we duo queue and get into a game. We win pretty quickly in like 28 minutes. Get to the scoreboard, and the opposing team's Anivia didn't buy anything. At all. I mean hes only level 14 (They had the rest upper 30s) but how do you get that high without buying any items? Level 14 is a really low level to start trolling games, especially normals. Weeeeird.
Well, unless his team mates were bitching about it, he probably sold all of his stuff before they lost for some reason. Least thats what I'd guess.

I think LB has the strongest single target burst in the game, but it is at the cost of having no utility whatsoever. I would say Annie is probably a stronger overall burst char right now with tibbers, a shield, and stun.
In ranked games each team gets to ban two characters .This can be done to prevent someone from picking a champion that counters your solo lanes or would counter jungle you. Tf gets banned cause once he hits 6 he can be anywhere in the map , backdooring you tower while you fight or picking off stragglers. His ult also instantly tells him where your whole team is.
There is a whole strategy to it and im sure someone with more experience could explain it better.
Also TF is one of the best characters in the game , if you are good at him there is no reason not to play him. He has been nerfed so many times and he is still godly.
The reason TF gets banned now is because he's replacing Eve in the meta. He punishes overextending severely. You are harassing the person in your lane and you start chasing them to tower or something thinking you are safe and all of the sudden you are stunned and it is a 2v1. This means the team that doesn't have TF has to play more passively and any mistakes are more likely to be punished.
I think more than overpushing, he punishes team fights. His ability to turn any equal fight to one pushed in your favor is 2nd to none. Basically if you start a fight, you need to plan on beating both TF and your lane opponent.

If your ult isn't cooling down you're doing it wrong
It may just have been the specific games or players, but I am noticing as Janna if you get rank 3 zephyr at level 5, you have a really cheap and ridiculously powerful poke on a short cooldown.
I'm loving how I can just pin down their ranged, let our melee get into positioning then let them all clobber them. Also, when they're trying to run away and you just flag+spear knock up. So good.

Here is a funny story about how I learned you can swap champs more than once in ranked. This happened yesterday
I was in a ranked game. And these 2 people were duo-queued. One was #1, the other was #5. I had slot #4. At the start #5 said "im going cait, and my friend is going Garen, both bottom lane".
So I felt like messing around, so I said "I pick before you, I am Cait".
Then #5 said "hey buddy, get Cait for me and we can trade"
Then I said "I pick before you, I will be Garen"
Then #1 picks Cait, and #5 realizes "oh crap, I dont have Garen"
Then I laugh and said i was messing around.
Then the whole time the rest of the people were looking to see if we can multi-swap champs, or if its a one-time thing.
One person says you cant, the other person says you can.
So I pick Garen for #1 to trade him (which was ok if it didnt work out, since Cait is my main AD person).
Then #5 only has like 3 champions or something, so he picks Morgana for me (whatever, its fine).
So then we trade and turned out we could multi-swap so everyone was happy
In summary: Yes, you can multi-swap champs in ranked.
That is a good attitude to have in ranked. I am sick and tired of people who pick a character without looking at the rest of our team and oh what do you know we have Jungle Trynd, Lanedyr, Solo Orianna, and the Cass Leona duo lane.

but yeah i don't think the damage is worth the mana at all. i still grab it at level 4 because who knows when laning will end, but it's only used if i absolutely have to

I could not believe your team went without a single MR item until about 30 minutes in. That let me build beefy (RoA + Rylai's) instead of having to rush a BossCap to stay relevant.
Also, what the hell was up with the early lane switching between Nid and Brand? Felt like Brand was doing everything possible to avoid me while my Cho absolutely HAD to lane against Nid for whatever reason.
i came to the conclusion today that right now, if i get first pick in a premade, and they are down with building a team around whoever I pick, I would like to be karma

Also, Triple Doran's Rings might need to be a thing that is allowed no longer. It is just so unfair to whoever is my victim. I don't know why, but two doesn't do it, and if I can't afford a NLR yet, Trip Doran's is just :bz
Also, I've suddenly had the itch to play Maokai. How do I make him effective late game? Every Mao I play with is a gigantic asset early game, but I feel they all become kinda "meh" later. Tips? (Tanky or AP? Gut says AP)

Why can I never get a freaking penta? Why must they escape with 10 health or someone else blows their ult they've been saving for the last kill?
Also, gunblade felt really nice on Ezreal. The lower cooldown on his ult and the tiny bit of AP scaling on his Q makes me want to try an AP build to mess around.
