I've actually never played a support besides Janna, and I really didn't like her style. Thinking about picking up Sona, is she fun at all?
I think sona is effective though boring as shit, but thats just me
you just kinda press all your buttons and watch stuff happen sans ult
The problem/good thing about Sona is only her ult is targetted. Her heal just goes to the most injured person and her q goes to the prioritizes champs then minions. This means in battle you can just spam q w e or q w depending and still contribute.
She's pretty boring, but good lord is she a force multiplier, it's amazing how she elevates shitty teams to wrecking status.
Speak for yourselves, I lose my mouse pointer so fucking often in this game that having three completely untargeted abilities sounds like a goddamn boon to me!
(no, seriously, I really need to find a way to make the pointer a lot more obvious, because it's really killing me
My friends and I have been playing a silly ARAR game mode where we let a random item generator create our builds. We did this way before hearing about Ultimate Bravery. We put it up on http://www.leagueofrandom.com/ and would love any feedback you guys'll have.
We've mainly been focusing on making the 5 man randomizer fun and silly. There's a slight chance for a joke build and I'm still working out any kinks.
Finally played a ranked game after about 700 normals.
Hot damn our team was a fucking hive mind. Was laning with a Shen as Ashe and it was just awesome, dude would taunt just as I landed my volley and we'd end up with at least a kill almost every time. Ryze was taking on 1v2 and getting a kill while coming out alive in mid with Heimer holding down the fort up top and grabbing a kill once in a while too. Just perfect team play with a surrender at 20.
But now I don't want to play anymore ranked for fear of being on the opposite team.

my first ever ranked match was something along those lines. going 5/1/20 as nasus with a fully competent team and it was amazing
I have not had a ranked game go quite as well since then sadly
Buying wards too expensive, roamers completely unstoppable.
And there was no trade-off for roaming or jungling, either!
the 'you're bad' argument is never going to be convincing. roaming, jungling, and stealth all promote passive gameplay. people last hitting minions for 20 minutes because of junglers/stealths/roamers being mia isn't fun to play, nor is it entertaining to watch.
My point was that jungling/roaming is counterable and has a risk/reward element to it. The risk/reward is kinda fucked atm and should be tweaked, but that would require a drastic overhaul to the game that doesn't seem likely . Namely, roaming sucks balls, and when you jungle, it doesn't leave you with a weak lane, as basically anyone can solo in this game.
As for jungling/roaming promoting passive play...wat. Pretty much the only way kills happen early game is jungle ganks. If it wasn't for junglers the game would be a PvE snoozefest <20 minutes
Shameful pursuits and utterly stupid opinions

I'm at the point where I cheer wildly when I get a Malzahar on my team and I resign myself to a 20 minute surrender when there's one on the other team.
Sona is suuuuuper fun people are crazy. You just need to add a triforce or two.

Sona is fun if you enjoy the universal aspects of the game. If you rather enjoy the character specific aspects then yeah she can be boring as shit. I rather enjoy being able to focus on stuff like wards and location and shit. Also knowing what order you are casting in and what power chord you will get is pretty important. a well timed 20% damage reduction or 40% slow makes the diff between a good sona and a great sona.
Although I personally feel her abilities should be targetable with the second person being chosen using the current rules. Right now, the "champ" priority on the Q is bullshit, it attacks what is closest when you hit the button, I never hit champs in range if a minion is also in range.
Sona so strong in pubs it's not even funny. Just had a game where my Sona had a horrible start up against an Akali who knew what was up and singled me out every time. At 15 min I've got 5 deaths and am apologizing to my team for feeding her. Still didn't matter, team cleaned up since I could buff them at will by mid game.

They promote passive play because there is a strong disincentive for you to make any attempt to kill the other person in a lane. Either you are afraid of their jungler, or you are waiting for your jungler. The whole concept of not moving past the river is due to the prevalence of ganks by junglers / roamers. What do you think happens when two players are both trying not to cross the same invisible line? (hint: nothing)

Sona is fun if you enjoy always being useful to your team. whisking your team through the enemy jungle while healing them up from a team fight is too good. It's nice having every button press you do benefit your team in someway, that is why sona is awesome. I honestly don't know how someone could find her boring.

Don't wards sorta clue you in to when a jungle gank is coming? At around 5 minutes stop overxtending near that murder bush that you know the jungler is in, then just ward accordingly. Sure, it doesn't always work but doesn't it work the majority of the time? Or am I just playing with super scrubs and they're all so damn predictable?
But you, pig, are a lucky one. Tell us what we wish to know, and you may yet keep your bacon.

I am slaughtering people, and getting cursed at, with Lux.
One thing I was doing wrong was that in pursuing a Lich Bane, I don't need to buy two of the items, I can skip to the sword in the middle for 400, saving myself some gold.
if you are hovering over several people in a clump and aren't sure who you're targeting because smartcasting and then you zilean ult nobody because that is 1 teammate and 3 enemies and it like wants to target the enemies or something you want to KILL YOURSELF
but as a support champ you should be using portraits to target teammates anyways so thats just me being bad
monkey shield: gives him dodge percent and armor, if he dodges while it's attack he gets attack speed!
aoe staff smack knock up.
avatar ultimate, turns him into dbz goku
monkey paws passive, he steals gold from your pockets or something.
also, i find it hilarious that my sole purpose for playing this game lately is to get ip to buy random 3100 champs that i duddenly feel like playing, then getting bored with them after a game or two.

People kill each other in 1v1 lanes all the time. Not just shitty players either - watch players like Reginald stream and you'll see very aggressive 1v1 and 2v2 lanes.
You don't see a lot of lane aggression in tournament play because it's much riskier. There's a lot more coordination in arranged 5v5s and the risk of a coordinated gank (often including globals/roamers) is just too great.

6/0/6, a dragon, and some turrets net me 7384 gold earned as Jungleplank at their 20 minute surrender.
I went from having the best game of my LoL career to arguably some of the worst play... all within a few hours.

Made manamune / triforce and went 2/6/26 for a win. Our team had 5 ignites and I never got another kill after level 1.
