iMac Mid-2011 RAM Upgrade Question

I have an iMac,12,2. It came with 4GB RAM, but I want to upgrade this. I found this article, but when it says "You can use RAM module sizes of 2 GB or 4 GB in each slot." Does this mean I can have 2 slots with 2GB and 2 slots with 4GB, or does RAM still work where all of the sticks have to have the same value?

You can mix and match, but you'll want to install the modules in the right bank order so as to operate in dual channel mode (you don't have to, but performance will be better if you do). Most likely the 2 DIMMs installed are already installed so as to take advantage of dual channel operation, so all you should have to do is install the new 2 x 4GB DIMMs in the available banks.
