What's dumber than the Oscars (barely), not quite as dumb as the Grammys, and but a hollow echo of the prestigious CableACE awards?

It's The Emmys!

As usual, this year's nominations featured a couple of steamin' bowls of bullshit soup (The Cleveland Show getting a best animated program nod instead of Archer, The Venture Brothers, or any other goddamn show on television god The Cleveland Show is so fucking terrible), but it's not all bad! Walton Goggins, Margot Martindale, and Peter Dinklage all got Best Supporting nods, and deserve the heck out of 'em. Hell, even Louie managed to snag a couple of nominations, which ain't too shabby for a show written, directed, starring, and edited by a single dude.

Well, they did one thing right at least. The Adventure Time episode "It Came From The Nightosphere" got nominated for a best animated short Emmy. That's gotta count for something, right?

Justified was good last season.

This season it was one of the best shows on television. It made the leap.


Also anyone who actually thought Community would get nominated for anything was deluding themselves. Be thankful that Park and Recs got nominated for best comedy series, that was shocking enough. Community never had a chance.

The second season feels much more like a procedural, which makes it a lot more interesting.

Im not sure what Burden of Proof is smoking because aside from a couple episodes at the start, season 2 was much more serialized than the first season. (re: Justified)

The emmys are still nominating Jon Cryer, so I feel like I can tell myself they're irrelevant when Community and Parks and Recs don't get more noms.

The list is half "oh hey neat they recognized something good for once", and half "what the fuck are you kidding me with this".
Which I guess is what happens every year.
All I wanted was John Noble and Ron Swanson so screw you Emmys.

Most of those nominations are awful.

But Best Actor in a Drama Series is packed full of terrific people who all honestly deserve it (my man Steve Buscemi leading the pack).
