How close are you sitting?
How are the picture quality settings set?
It's a 47 inch set, right? Are you watching SD or HD inputs? I know that when I have SD playing on my 32 inch 720p screen my eyes get munted after a couple of hours.
to answer : i am watching almosy exclusively hd content from about 8 feet away. i have tried tons of picture settings. smooth motion is a stupid feature that i disabled when i got th tv.i would say i have run the gamut of settings related fixes. until last night, it was only just a mild to medium discomfort when watching it, that i hoped would go away when i got used to it. but i made myself watch for 3 ish hours yesterday. it still feels off if i watch from the kitchrn, which is 15ish feet away.
Some people are super sensitive to the flickering backlight in led tvs. Easiest way to test is to go to a best buy and look at the wall of tvs and see which ones make you uncomfortable.

Speaking of the backlight, you might want to try adjusting the backlight (probably down, but you could also try bumping it up a bit). I think the typical wisdom is that when it's bright out, you want the backlight up a bit (not too much) so you can see the screen well, but at night you want the backlight as low as you feel comfortable with, to avoid eyestrain. In our house, we frequently turn down the backlight at night, or any time one of us has a headache, because it makes a HUGE difference. I know you said you tried messing with all the picture settings, but I figured matching the brightness of the screen to the brightness of the sun might not have been something you would think of right off the bat.
I had the same issue with our vizio! There are other features aside from smooth motion that you need to change/turn off. I'm not at home so I'll have to check later. It's most noticeable to me when watching animation. First animated show I watched when we got the tv was the Simpsons and it was so bad I had to stop watching. I had to contact Vizio's help to find all the features I that I needed to change. They have chat help on their website, so if any suggestions here don't help then try their customer service chat

There's another setting where smooth motion is called real cinema. Turn that off too. Turning those off really helped. It's in TV settings -> Picture -> More -> Advanced. There are a few more settings in that menu that you can also turn off/change, like color enhancement and noise reduction that should help more depending on your preferences. I turned the ambient light sensor off too.
Hope that fixes it for you!

I was going to say the same, also make sure that you are using circular polarized glasses not some cheap line ones that you bought. You could try to buy some LG Cinema 3D glasses for about 10 bucks I know they are circular polarized if you bought off brand glasses with your passive TV you could be having problems because of that.
There also may be a setting that forces the TV to display the HZ of your direct TV or dish network box if your using that, all you do is need to upgrade to a more modern one, this is free from either of those providers. This would cause off angle and on angle viewing to be a problem.
If that does not fix your problem post again and I will try to help some more.
I'm having the same problem with my hd tv , I can't watch it at all I feel so nauseated . I'm just wondering if it's something to do with my eye prescription , I'm a -6.00 in both eyes just wondering if others are close to my prescription with this same problem ?????
